Very solid, most of the criticism I've seen completely misconstrued many of the events that happened or ignore a lot of prior events in order to call them plot holes. It had a few inconsistencies and the pacing could've been better but thematically it was a masterpiece.

Still think it could have been better, but there’s been worse I’m sure. Thought it was decent for what it was.

Tbh I never really had any problem with the Ending. It's not at all bad some idiots whimpered and propagated that its bad. Eren after unlocking the powers of the FT could simultaneously see the past, present and future that had made already complicated things more clumsy for him. As Isayama had once himself said that he wanted the anime to be close to RL. And the ending was very realistic, even IRL Wars can never come to an end. So the dumbfolks crying that Eren's sacrifice was waste, it wasn't. He wanted his dear ones to have a good life and he succeeded at the cost of his own life and freedom. The war state shown at the Ending deserves more appreciation.

Might as well go along w/ Zeke's Eldian Euthanasia plan because it removes all titan powers? No, he didnt because that's not where all his motivation comes from.

Eren wanted to exterminate all the titans but also wanted to be free and hated the idea of seeing people in cages and being caged himself, he was always ready to do anything to defend his vision of freedom even if it meant getting into trouble or killing those who opposed it. It would have been contrary to Eren's character if suddenly he who was ready to kill adults at 9yo meekly accepted Zeke's plan which literally means, give up the future you've fought for.

Thats what i meant eariler when i said his motivations cant be reduced to "Ill exterminate all the titans", and thats why he doesnt go along w/ Zekes plan, exterminating all the titans is not where ALL his motivation comes from even though it plays a role, so we already agree.

But his vision of "freedom" was always flawed to me, what does it mean to be "free"? We are still puppets of our surroudings feeling that we have "control" and are "free" to choose our actions but we never do. When Eren says "My actions are governed by nothing but my own free will" to armin, it doesn't make sense because we just dont have "Free will" or "Freedom".

I guess that end was in Isayama's head right from the start. It made the whole thing into a sort of moral fable about "when does a freedom fighter become a moral monster? How far can you use violence to achieve your goal?"
You see the exact thing on the news every day, same as its been for millenia. Isayama has the right to put in his 10 cents on the subject ie "there is no solution, it will go on like that forever."
But we all kind of know that anyway.
That said I would love to see a sequel with Gabi as the main character lol.

I think we also agree on the second part of what you're saying. For me, too, his notion of "freedom" has always been vague. I think that's Eren's paradox: he wants to be free and is so obsessed with freedom, even though he doesn't even know how far his freedom is defined. He told Armin that he's tried to change the future many times, but all his visions always come true, down to the smallest detail. In the end, he's ultimately a slave to his own power.

I think the ending is a solid 7/10 nothing more nothing less. That said I genuinely believe that the only reason why people believe that the ending is shit is because aot kinda was a 9 or 10 for most of its run so since the ending isn’t on that level people tend to believe that the ending is worst than it is.

Exactly, he is a slave to his power, but what i also meant was that if we take that power, hes still not free, no one is.

I can see why your list is private.

lol I'm not insecure enough to hide my lists or attack others for theirs (in fact I didn't know they were private by default in the first place), but go ahead take a look now that i unprivated, although I don't see how any of that is relevant anyway. Why don't you just list the critiques you have and we can discuss that instead

It's all fine until Mikasa kisses eren's fuking severed head.

Basically Eren's weird confession of his love for Mikasa was the only off putting thing for me.

Otherwise I like how the concept of "history repeats itself" is shown.

Solid ending.
What Eren did was evil, but at least ending managed to rationalize it somewhat.
Definitely does it deserve all the hate it gets.

It ain’t good. Eren doesn’t make sense. Ymir doesn’t make sense. Armin doesn’t make sense. The mechanics of the world don’t make sense. And the action in the end is nowhere near as well thought-out as previous seasons.

Really don’t think it lands at all, unless it landed face first

Exactly 👏🏻👏🏻
He did say that was his goal, to deprive the world of the means to attack Paradis, which he did..
What I really liked about the ending is that you could see that Eren succeeded in protecting the ones he cared about the most, but in the end, the cycle was eventually going to repeat itself, because people never change, and as long as there are people, this vicious cycle will never end..
Expecting an ending where somehow everyone survives and is happy is like expecting a Dostoevsky novel to end like a Disney film.. That would have been ridiculous, that is the best possible ending for AOT, and it's a great one.

Perfect ending. It fit the show and manga perfectly and really gave that kinda bittersweet feeling i was hoping the ending would be. i think the people who disliked the ending are just people who either wanted the ending to be really happy with eveyone living happy lives or every character dying and the show ends very bleak.

I thought it was a bit wack when the manga first ended but after seeing it adapted in the anime I've warmed up to it. It's still far from perfect though

Also LOL @ the pretty much evenly-split poll results
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

can someone explain why ppl think it's bad?

The creator said himself that "Mikasa is a mother figure for eren". he changed it because of twitter/reddit, he's a anxious person.

Eren always've fought for freedom, so why would he want to be with a person who is restricts him ?

ymir loving friz isn' makeing sense, he changed it
because of mikasa plotline

mikasa also become center of the history of aot last minute

historia got forgotten

titans had plot armor as fuck

killing zeke shouldn't stop the rumbling

eren in 1 sezon said to Pixis that humanity can't became ally while faceing bigger threat, that's what's happening withn the walls.

eren in 1 sezon trusted his friend while faceing annie and they got killed. While eren acts alone in 4 sezon he achives his goals. why should he trust his friend in the ending ? he asked that Hange, she didnt anwserd

Eren won't take alliance powers because "they are free" but he closed them within cell in 4 sezon

eren lost agenda between sezon 4 and films

eren should've just hind in the crystal

eren should have won, and he was supossed to, he was basicly god

eren said that he won't paradis fate let unknow by letting humanity live, but that's what he dose

explaing things with fraze "only ymir knows" because Isayama knew that Mikasa plotline didn't any make sense

Isayama was cooking something with Historia and Ymir, and Rumbling would have been reference to Noe from Bible but he gave that up because he got too big, to the point he's not even creating manga anymore

there's a lot, A LOT of things to hate, i can go on and on

The ending is fine for what it was. It wasn’t great, wasn’t bad, it was just fine. Literally never understood why or how this ending is mass hated or was considered one of the worst endings of all time. Wasn’t fantastic or amazing or anything but I really don’t see nearly as much flaws for it to get as much divide and hate even after all these years. It’s just a good 6 or 7 out of 10 ending.

Pretty indifferent to it but the memes are good, amazing how Reiner is treated as an ahole by the alliance at the start, but hey Annie has suffered enough right? Levi shouldve done what he said to her when she was trapped--Limbs off at the joints!

It made the entire thing more forgettable than it could have been. The ending didn't have any lasting impact instead I kinda blanked it out from my mind so I can at least have some positive opinion about the rest of the story. In other words, still don't like the ending.
