Wow, God forgive me but her nation deserves nothing less than to be utterly left to be destroyed by any advancing force of nature or foreign enemy.

The way they treated her just becasue she has issues with showing emotions is utterly unforgivable. From her backstory I can see that her parents invested in her since early age so that they can live like royalties from her hard work. I mean, she fought monsters, lived alone in mountain for a month, been buried alive in desert and slept on spiked bed and this is the love and affection she gets?

She is too kind of a soul, a true saint. Anyone else would tell them to f**k off and just leave. But because this is her home nation and her parents live there she gave it her best despite being socially awkward and the thanks she get is 'we will get a lot of money from you, goodbye!'

Her younger sister is the only one who showed any kind of affection toward her, and giving what some people said here (since I didn't read the manga), I cannot say if she is genuine or is it just a façade. Man, Philia sure has it tough but hopefully new age of enjoyment for her is on the horizon.

I will watch this with interest as I really have it for tragic heroes like this.

Jeezus, that title! Ahh, gotta love light novels, where the first chapter is actually the book's title itself!

The anime looks alright, nothing really too spectacular. I'll give it the one episode watch and see if the characters catch my interest.

I just finished watching episode 1 (it's funny how MAL thinks it hasn't come out yet). So far, this show looks very good. I can kinda already suspect some things that will happen in future episodes and how they might play out. that being said, patern recognition is an aspect of having adhd and loving anime I find annoying.

still, I look forward to more. I hope the anime proves me wrong. love twists in a story.

Okay, we've been introduced to the world and the main character. It looks like it'll be at least entertaining. I'll give it a chance.

PS: Philia had such shitty parents. How do you think it's a good idea to sell your daughter? Bruhhhhh

Basically, was happy this got an anime..have read the manga up to a point, and it is looking good.

This is just straight up so ridiculous. This has got to be one of the most melodramatic anime of all time. It makes me so mad not even because of the characters actions, but because of how badly executed this is. Nothing in this makes sense at all. Well, i'll watch it for now. Really loving the sound design.

I hope Mia runs away from home to join her sister. Would serve that country right to lose both their saints; they clearly don't appreciate what they had.

OMG, 2nd prince is pure trash with no capability of thinking thus he selling national treasure for one year income. Just like parents of both saints. I hope FL's little sister will be saved by 1st prince. FL clearly will find new home, admiration and love in her new country.

The prince is so cartoonishly evil that he sells the best saint in the world just so he can marry her sister.

I just forwarded through the 2nd half during the scene with the prince and the parents; It's so stupidly predictable. Shouldn't have taken that long.

I don't have an issue with the protag's 'emotionless' situation, or the cliche loving, bubbly, sister, or the 'Knight in shining armor' coming to the rescue of the damsel in distress.
But I sure as heck have a great problem with the villains of the story being so freakin' cheap. It won't be interesting to follow the journey of the MC if the obstacles are just a bunch of villain-for-the-sake-of-villain for no interesting or creative reason at all. At least the prince has the classic greed and selfish reasons for it, but the parents?... just straight up hating, like a spell has been casted on them or something.

Good aesthetics though, and the OST as well.
I'll apply the "3 Episode Rule" since I'm curious if there will be hints of the sister secretly plotting the MC's current predicament all along, and the MC being a saint for a new empire might also provide some interesting stuff.
@Jozuwa-_- About villains. There is possibility FL will save the world because she is the greatest. Previous best saint saves the world from king of demons or something. It's forshadowing imo.

I wish they had a rating of Huuuhhh? Interesting art style, gorgeous backgrounds on the carriage journey.
Philia's character is nigh unbelievable though. She is very unexpressive, OK. But to have ZERO idea of what the people around her are like and what they're planning. Hard to accept. Hopefully this ham handed first episode will introduce a better story.

This is a good episode 1, but the premise is so absurd I can't help but feel annoyed. Like I get this is a Cinderella story but instead of a helpless princess being thrown out its the most proficcient, talented and competent miracle worker ever in every field imaginable, who was basically doing charity work for the kingdom. My god must the people be so dumb? I am mad not only for the poor main character but for how unrealisticly stupid the "bad guys" are...
Animations are great, VA is top notch, can't wait for episode 2.
@djoes Yeah I got the same feeling, really annoying premise and really dumb seeming characters. I get that shows don't have to be realistic but a country can't be run by cartoonishly stupid and evil people and not fall, they could at least make their evil deeds seem more realistic than "I hate you even though you're insanely good at what you do". Really should've given them a better motive for doing what they did, cause it's complete nonsense to get rid of good talent, they should be trying to KEEP talent and utilize it instead. Or better yet they should've gone the super villain route and "used" her to their advantage when selling her instead of just doing it for money and petty hate reasons. It's just really hard to take anything going on seriously when the writing is so stupid.

Sadly this sort of thing doesn't really work very well when it's not a comedy or unserious type of show like Saiki K. I'm hopeful it'll get better after episode 1 but we'll see, a show that's trying to be serious at least has to do it well enough.

Felt like punching her parents. I can understand Philia since it's kinda like with me and my sister, my sister is outgoing and liked by all, my parents always favor her, only difference is Philia is truly a saint to still love her sister, in my case I get jealous of her and hate her.

@Threee Im surprised you watch things you clearly dislike. Are you an angsty teenager?

I cant fathom the reasoning behind this.

You did read the synopsis yes? So why you expected anything different is baffling.

This is exactly why im glad Japan doesnt care what ppl outside Japan say about animes.

As long as series sell well in Japan, thats all that matters.
@animefanftw123

yeah, this sweet, comely, capable and dutiful lady being abhorred doesn't make a lot of sense even with the exposition, but sometimes you have to swallow an absurdity to let the story be

I mean it's not like anyone liked Steins;Gate any less because the main plot explicitly depended on the conceptual category error fallacy of physically compressing data with a black hole

if you just accept the premise and don't get too worked up about it, ep1 was a good watch and I'm looking forward to more

@Crowfinger My Happy Marriage, and yeah, it really is similar to that one.

Although there the FMC's family situation was more believable, with the her being the daughter of the first wife, coming from an arranged marriage, came as no surprise the father and the stepmom/stepsis did not like her.

I genuinely liked Steins;Gate less because of the whole black hole compression thing. I really enjoyed the series when I watched it, but that really sticks out because of the more grounded setting.

The "everyone hates her for no reason" thing here would be less annoying if more people were at least neutral to her. Or if it was a comedy, though I think we have enough comedies. I plan to see it through though.

Shoelacer settings are spreading to shoujo...lol, not complaining. Call it Otome-Aparida, or Otome-Beast Tamer.

Yui "FGO Morgan & Violet Evergarden" Ishikawa doing emotionally damaged polite cutie again, good. Thats a typecast I can stand by.

Can some manga/Novel pals give some spoilers (ofc, tagged, please) on Mia? Is she a Green Tea Bitch/White Lotus-type shoujo villain, or she genuinely loves her sister and is clueless about her souless abusive family?
And IF the second, how bad she's gonna react to her big sister exiling? Try to escape/run (and succeed)? Do a scene and scream accusations in a official party, with lots of testimonies to sink 2nd prince and her famly social standing? Take advantage of her popularity to overthrow the royals? Just sulk in helpless depression? At least try to contatc Philia, to see if she's living a nicer life?
@Fabris: As requested, some mild spoiler-tagged info on Mia.

I actually confused this show with not one, but two different upcoming villainess shows that I've read about... And I'm pretty disappointed now that I realize this is neither of those.

Literally everyone was telling her she sucks or talking behind her back. That scene in the room where the prince and her parents were plainly explaining their evil plan and laughing at her was so embarrassing to the point of comical. "They paid how much for you? What idiots! Ohohoho!" They all should've had mustaches so they can twirl it, even the mom, as they all let out a witch's laugh.

By all means, make your main character mistreated and miserable, but can we be a little more interesting and subtle about it? Even My Happy Marriage did it better. I'm sure the show wanted me to feel bad for Philia, but the sheer dumbness of these scenes had the opposite effect and made me care less. "I should make a statue of myself with the monies" made me roll my eyes so hard.

I love Yui Ishikawa's voice, but I don't think the show's worth watching for that. And I don't think she's been getting the best roles in recent seasons... maybe Gundam will be different.

It feels like they did a "Kicked out of the party" story except on a country scale and kept the same incompetent/greedy "party members" that don't appreciate hard work and/or OP skills. Except this feels like it has a little more weight because even though she basically dodged a bullet by getting out of there, most people actually will feel bad when rejected by their parents even when their parents are crap. (Kids usually wanna be loved by parents and it takes a lot of work to get over not being loved.) They even have the one party member that still appreciates the outcast in the sister, but if the sister leaves the Party/Country as well, the country can genuinely get wrecked.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Will the party come chasing after her accusing the new group of "stealing" her or swindling them? We'll see.

So let me get this straight the country that got blessed with two saints akin to having two nukes while everyone has one decided to throw away their strongest one to another country just because her personality is not up to their liking not fearing her flattening the country out of anger or taking any measures against them?

The first episode introduces Leticia, a perfect but emotionless saint whose fiancé, Prince Reinhardt, breaks off their engagement because she’s “not cute enough.” Instead of being free, she’s sold to a neighboring kingdom, where new challenges await.

Leticia remains calm and composed, making her an interesting protagonist. The animation is clean, and the soundtrack fits the regal atmosphere. The story hints at future court intrigue and personal growth, making it a promising start.
@goldemarine um...Leticia is from last season, FL's name is Philia

It is compared to My Happy Marriage, and to some extent it's true, especially with riria singing the OP.

But Philia is shown as this stoick individual who does her duties perfectly, hence the monicker 'perfect saint'.

I'm gonna love this, but for different reasons to My Happy Marriage. She is already overpowered. The question is, what will make her smile?

I guess the people of this country she's in values "Look" over "accomplishment" (smile + boobies > saving an entire country)

This is some shit.

And yea... part of it resemble "Cinderella", with the bad parents and the MC taking the punishment and treated like Trash. But with also the Prince hating her...

And now her only salvation is to be sold off to another country and hope she doesn't end up being just used as a tool.

.

I don't know why doesn't just escape/ run away from this crap... you're not even enjoying the stuff you do anyways, there's literally no reason or excuse for her to stay there...

.

TBH in a way... this also somewhat reminds me of [7-loop] and [Yarinaoshi Reijou], where the female MC is also treated (and die) to their shitty country. And ends up with them being somewhat saved in a different country.

Tho the part I am unsure of... will this series also end up as a "revenge plot" similar to the other 2 series? will MC end up as enemies with her sister?

I'll be honest I f*cking despise these anime where someone is actually awesome but almost everyone they know at the start of the story is like "actually this sucks" and they suffer and suffer and suffer until the good kind good people show up and are like "no you're awesome they're wrong" and the people from before are like "oh no without the person we hated because [insert vapid reason here] everything is falling apart and breaking because we are completely incapable without them" and so on and so forth.

I'll keep watching, mainly because I'm curious how her sister will react to finding out that her beloved (at least to her) sibling was literally sold like property by their parents to another country where they'll never see each other ever again. I hope she shows some agency and like, leaves the country to find her sister or something. If saints are super powerful people then Prince Comically-Evil-Douchebag shouldn't be able to stop her, but I get the sinking feeling that it's going to be one of those insufferable anime tropes of severe miscommunication that could be cleared up with one conversation. At least it would make some sense here if it were to happen; evil parents and evil prince have no reason to tell the truth when a simple "she died in battle"/"she ran away" would suffice. I get the sense that if that's what actually happens, the sister will be tipped off that something's fucky when the evil prince tries to court her after the supposed heartbreaking loss of his fiancé.
