@Puppiesss well we already talked about all of these, so I don't think there is need to discuss it futher, but either way: Puppiesss said: 2.who the fuck said the glutonies eat names in different ways? We literally see the gluttony fighting otto and beatrice eat names and then julius comes in with his name eaten learn how to watch smh Well we currently have 5 different types of "being eaten": 1. Completely erased from existance with personal belongings (Rem in 1st season) 2. ^ same, but with body in the comatose state remain (Rem) 3. Everyone forgets about specific person (Julius) 4. Person forgets himself (Crusch) 5. Everyone forget about the person, person himself dissapear, but it's somehow possible to know someone disappeared (warriors who died ages ago fighting Whale) That's too much of leeway for the singular power. So I raised a question in s3 e16 why we have walking-talking Julius while Rem is sleeping, and got convenient but believable speculative answer that "different aspects of Gluttony eat differently". It was kinda logical because of the dropped words like "gourmet" and alikes, while still barrely being possible to at least say: 3/5 ways to eat names are for Gluttonies and 2/5 are for the Whale with/without his mist. But it raised other question: why Crusch and Rem were eaten differently while fighting literally at the same place with the same Gluttony? The answer is either "power does what it needs to do for the plot", which is definition of a plothole (at least my personal definition), or aspects changed midfight, which I cannot believe and still see as a plothole because "it happened just because" Puppiesss said: 3. Aldebaran It could've explain the drowning just barely (I mean Al should have rescued him almost immediately for it to work, but from what we saw about him going through underwater streams, I just can't see that being possible) But the problem about falling from 3rd floor was in the Capella fight, there was no Al at that point yet. Puppiesss said: 5. Like what is the problem with this? This is just a coincedence they happen in real life Sure, but that was too much of a stretch for me, so I couldn't believe it. Well tbh this one was a small spoiler but if you pay obsenely close attention to the fight between al and capella in ep 13 you can see exactly why al was my answer As for 2 the gluttonies are just sadists who enjoy severing connections and if you want a more logical answer they can eat someone twice |

Yeah. I'm at a loss to. The point of season 1 was "I love Emilia". Point of season 2 was "Love yourself" but that seems to just be a fan interpretation. Maybe season 3's point is "I love Emilia more", or "Who's Julius?". Final words get to be the point of the series. |

That's exactly the problem MyllerPhiem mentioned. It's quite easy to fix plotholes by saying "yeah, that deus ex machina did the thing but we don't know yet". Sure in the retrospective for a hardcore fan it would feel good, but when these "we don't know yet" piling up so much - it becomes plotholes and not a foreshadowing.
Now that's even more confusing now. When Gluttony was fighting all this time he needed a name to do anything (it was especially stressed in the s3 last 2 episodes with "who is Otto" joke and even more strongly with "Fern name isn't Fern" situation). Also Al himself (future Subaru or whatnot stated it too), so if now Gluttony can eat without the name then it's even more incosistent. Answer of "that's how it works when name is assumed by memories of the others" also don't work because of last 2 eps of 3rd season because of these white knight being forgotten left and right.
Well my definition of plothole is all the inconsistencies, deus ex machinas and "huh, why?" in the series, so for me this is also a plothole. Same was with Rem in ~14ep in s1 when she got her head twisted in the cave by unseen hand and yet still was alive. I can't stretch my disbelief suspension to that extent.
Anyway, "Suba more durable" - he is still supposed to be just a human. If athlete dropped on his back from 3rd storey - he will be at the very least vegeatable till the death.
Because there are 2 possibilities.
Either that "stability" was used only once just for that moment which makes it deus ex machina.
Or it was active all the time, but for some reason once again it worked only in that specific moment which is also deus ex machina.
Same goes for Tea effect being not permanent. Once again it would be very convenient for it being drunk 2 eps ago, work just in time for prevent soul from breaking, just so it stopped working moments later.
But anyway, about "two as same", probably my bad with the example, so I could change it to:
- Subaru biting off his tongue / same scene but earlier when he recollecting his traumas
- Subaru has his arm torn off by Pride
I don't know about you, but I can safely put it in the same busket as "being rabbitted" but much lighter, so "stability" should work much better with these ones
No, I'm talking about scene when Wilhelm was fighting his wife and in the end Reinhard had to kill her. s3 ep14 I assume. There for some unexplicable reason Heinkel just poof-ed up in the right moment just to hinder Wilhelm and make whole subplot happen. There was no reason for him to appear there mainly for 2 reason:
1. It's a whole city. Chances for randomly appear in the right momemnt and the right time and in the fight of the right people (your family) is extremly slim
2. He is weakling and coward. He even tried to extort Reinhard for protection using Fern. So there is no reason for him roaming the city where fighting happening left and right. He should be covered in fear in some house or something to that extent. Yeah, I know he is a knight commander or something, but from what show showed about him, I cannot even slightly imagine him going around the town like that.
I won't. The more I think about plotholes - the more I don't like Re:Zero. Let me retain some ounce of hope for the series

This is still a mystery, but since Pandora can change the scene instantly and has already been shown to be able to direct Great Mabeasts, such as Black Serpent (Emilia flashbacks) or such as the White Whale (where she encountered Theresia in S3 Flashback), it is possible.
There is no clear answer to this, but if Pandora was the one who did it, then it's not a plot hole.

Like it's a special device which does one specific thing once and will never be seing again. Deus ex machina in the wild so to speak. And there are a lot of them unfortunately. E.g. in the 3rd season Priscilla suddenly survived death-blows by transfering it to the necklace. It's just feels cheap. I wouldn't even be surprised if that power will be never seen again. Puppiesss said: Also wdym arm torn off by pride I'm talking about when Subaru wanted to talk to Witch of Gluttony, she switched places with other witches and the first was Pride. Subaru did a handshake and got his hand torn off. Even just in that ep there were about 5 things which were way to random/convenient so I related them to plotholes. But let's stop with the tea party specifically 1. How is it possbile to Subaru handshake Gluttony when literally second ago he was warned to not touch Witch? Like imagine telling someone "don't touch that boiling water" and you just proceed to put your hand in it seconds later. That just doesn't make sense except for plot of "let's show that Witches are scary" 2. Witches never needed to switch places and could have come together. But for some reason in that particular scene they never do. There was no reason for Pride to disappear when Wrath showed up. There was no reason for Gluttony wait for Wrath to disappear. There was no reason for Wrath to disappear when she actually came out of her way to heal Subaru after Pride's doings. |

@lessfull I will if you stop trolling like "Why Priscilla used her ability in her first fight! It's deux ex machina!" Btw Priscilla could easily kill Wrath if she didn't have this since she try to avoid killing Wrath until Lilliana saves the people from her authority. @Okeanix Google: battle shonen definition "Battle Shonen" refers to a subgenre of shonen anime and manga that primarily focuses on action and battles, with stories often centered around characters who gain power and overcome obstacles through fighting and training. That sums up the majority of season 3. It's bad because this is very different to the previous 2 seasons and not what a lot of viewers came to watch. Your baseless insult at the end was unnecessary and says a lot about you as a person. |

@Draaloff Zero media literacy. with stories often centered around characters who gain power and overcome obstacles through fighting and training. Who gained power? Who trained? The main obstacles weren’t overcome through fighting either. The central battle of the season was against Regulus Corneas, and that fight is literal proof that brute strength is meaningless — even the strongest, Reinhard, couldn’t do anything to him. That sums up the majority of season 3. No, it doesn’t. Season 3 follows the main storyline, and we see well-developed characters paying off, showcasing their growth in this arc — starting with Subaru and Emilia. It's bad because this is very different to the previous 2 seasons and not what a lot of viewers came to watch. Season 2 is different from Season 1 — just like Season 3 is different from both. Re:Zero has over 10 genres. It doesn't need to constantly repeat the main character dying, especially when one of the core lessons learned in Season 2 is the value of life. How is Season 3 actions different than White Whale fight, Garfiel vs. Elsa, Elsa vs. Reinhard, Elsa vs. Emilia, Subaru & Julius vs. Betelgeuse, Wilhelm’s action scenes, and more? Every Re:Zero season had plenty action and multiple character fights. How first two seasons are "not battle shounen" Season 3 following the values established in previous arcs doesn’t make it bad. On the contrary, it shows that the story respects its own narrative and that character development actually matters. Thanks for proving that the hate towards Season 3 comes from people who have no media literacy and don’t understand what Re:Zero really is. Re:Zero isn’t just Subaru looping or dying over and over — it’s a dark fantasy epic that blends over 10 genres, features 100+ characters, and delivers everything from deep worldbuilding to meaningful side character arcs. It’s not about "Return by Death." Season 2 Part 2 proves that. Season 3 proves that. The upcoming arcs in the novel prove that. If you're just looking for torture porn, then I’m sorry — but that’s not Re:Zero. You’ve basically dismissed every value and development in the first two seasons, yet you defend them — without even understanding what they truly were about. Okay? |

This season was 90% battle shounen, and that's exactly why some of us are complaining.
@Draaloff I’ll admit that season 2 was a lot better than this one. I wouldn’t say S3 was bad, but there wasn’t much special about it. With a few exceptions like Pricilla getting down, Subaru’s speech and the death of Regulas most of the season was meh. |

@Okeanix That's a lot of words to say very little. Fitting for this season that also did so very little. You can shout "troll" and "media illiteracy" all you want, but it just makes you look like an immature loser. - Subaru survived multiple things that should have killed him, and could have allowed for some time loop problem solving without him "not valuing his life". - Other season had fights, but this season was almost entirely back-to-back fighting. Battle shounen. - I don't care how many genres or characters it has; I just want an interesting story. I did not get that. As you're clearly not open to discussion, I see no reason in giving further replies. |

@mohamedo_abuduru Correct, fights alone does not equal battle shounen. But season 3 is groups of people fighting and very little else. |

@Draaloff so... what does equal battle shonen then? you're calling re:zero battle shonen because it's "just fighting" and then you say fights alone isn't what determines if it's battle shonen. also, season 3 is "groups of people fighting and very little else?" the entire first hour and a half episode passed without much action. and the fights themselves contain more dialogue than the average anime episode. you're just complaining about anything. try reading between the lines a little bit, because this season was filled with key character moments and mystery development that you obviously either missed or don't care about. |

@mohamedo_abuduru my apologies, the first 2 episodes are an exception. I've previously said this, but failed to do so this time. Beyond that though? Almost exclusively fights. Subaru's speech was a welcome break. Liliana's backstory might have been too if she wasn't so stupid and arrogant, with her only surviving on her own because she visited a lake and gained brainwashing magic that makes people like her. What little "mystery development" was thrown in had no payoff except for Subaru being conveniently knowledgeable about star folklore (which is one of many deus ex machina moments), although I've been told that the novels establish him as a star nerd earlier on. |

The babies, whiners, and low IQ folk have have descended in abundance. Shouldn’t you all be watching your shounen or something instead of bothering the adults with your bitterness?
@NoviSun You probably wish your supposed "adult" IQ was high enough to actually answer him lmao. Also, no one is bothering your smart ass, so move on please. |

@Puppiesss
The problem I have with that what it's just too convoluted for my tastes.
I'm talking about when Subaru wanted to talk to Witch of Gluttony, she switched places with other witches and the first was Pride. Subaru did a handshake and got his hand torn off. Even just in that ep there were about 5 things which were way to random/convenient so I related them to plotholes. But let's stop with the tea party specifically
1. How is it possbile to Subaru handshake Gluttony when literally second ago he was warned to not touch Witch? Like imagine telling someone "don't touch that boiling water" and you just proceed to put your hand in it seconds later. That just doesn't make sense except for plot of "let's show that Witches are scary"
