Not this again, you will find your answer here: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2069994. Do yourself a favor and watch Steins;Gate the way it was intended to be watched so go with the release order which is:

Steins;Gate 01-24 > Steins;Gate Ova 25 > Steins;Gate Movie > Steins;Gate Ova 23beta > Steins;Gate 0

Any other watch order is fan-made so ignore it and ignore the dumbasses recommending that crappy fan-made watch order. That shitty fan-made order only serves to poison the well and confuse the newcomers so seriously, simply ignore it.

Most likely not, I will say Steins gate starts off really slow, in the age of instant gratification and constant stream of content of people nowadays don't see what they like within the first couple episodes they will instantly judge the entire series based on those episodes and then proceed to drop it to watch whatever next they want that is faster paced.

Exactly. And that’s the mindset of a slothful person.

It would probably be popular for a season but wouldn’t have left as big of an impact

Steins;Gate is my all time favourite anime but I do believe it wouldn't be quite as succesfull if it aired today. People are more interested in epic action or colorful animations, like Jujutsu Kaisen. Steins;Gate has way too much build up for this people to give it a proper chance, so yeah, I'm happy it aired when it did

still plenty of people watching it for the first time and loving it (including my friends), so I think it'd still become popular if it had aired today. Doesn't really matter though, because it'll always be a timeless classic as far as I'm concerned.

People have low attention span nowadays. If it had aired today, it would've been the most underrated Anime aired that season as most people would've dropped it by then.

I do think so. The production quality is good (even today there is a metric tonn of worse show than this), the OST is memorable, the plot is top notch (even today there isn't many other anime which was able to pull off something like this), the characters are well flashed out, the moral of the story is universal. In my opinion even the first half was interesting enough (a good 7/10 watch). So I do not see why wouldn't this be a hit today?

As much as I love Steins;Gate or hate FMAB, I don't think Steins;Gate or FMAB would be this popular if it aired today in 2023, we have a different kind of audience now and most people rate the whole show based on the first couple of episodes and Steins;Gate does have a slow start so I believe a lot of people would have dropped this masterpiece, It wasn't bad but in my first watch the first half was a 7/10 at best for me, the 2nd half is a 10/10 though and it was the part that made me love Steins;Gate to death.

In other words, I believe Steins;Gate, and FMAB (that piece of crap) aired at the right time which helped them with popularity.

Bro.. you need to get over yourself. I can't count how many times I've seen you complain about FMAB on forums when no one even asked. You steady reaching for any opportunity to bring it up for no reason cause you're forever salty its rank #1

Oh well, at least we both love Steins; Gate
he’s right fmb is actually mid and only rated high because of the time of its release

Yes, it would. Even if it were still set in 2010 instead of 2023. The themes and subject matter of Steins;Gate are timeless.
You’re response is obviously bias it would have been rated a 6.03 at best

Nah, Steins; Gate does time travel best.. look at every other anime that took notes from it. Erased, Tokyo Revengers, Re Zero ect. The logic in TR is especially dog shit and was still received well. I watched S;G in 2021 and its still among my favorites after nearly a hundred different series. The only difference between now and 2011 is the fact our attention spans are collectively worse from technology & consumerism

How does this refute anything I just said?^^
I said people would start to pick flaws in the time travel concept and you're literally just telling me : "Nah, it's best" ...haha

Sorry, I didn't know there was an ACTUAL answer to this highly subjective and speculative Question. xD
You, your taste and your favorites do represent everyone in the world then?
The only difference between 2011 and now is people's attention spans changing? Nothing else?...

My dude, I think you need to stop speaking in generalisations and just accept other people's takes on stuff^^
lovely take

Isn't it popular as is? Why would it be any different if it were to air now? Tho, nowadays people care more about the animation than the story, and waiting some episode is a big thing...

Damn dude, you dug up this topic from the grave just to comment this? :D Damn, haters of this show are quite determined.
it’s not “hate” it’s just recognition of how garbage it is. It’s actually quite funny because when I seen someone post a list of their top ten and steins gate was on the top and I was like hmm what is this watched it and was so mid it doesn’t even hold a candle to jobless reincarnation

It wouldn't.
First, as almost everyone pointed out, the first half of the anime is plain boring. Even I had trouble rewatching it.
Second, one of the most important aesthetics of an anime is the era it was released in. Had Serial Experiment Lain been released now, people would've just called it a pretentious anime or even a woke piece of media. Steins;Gate was released at 2011, the age when anime had just transitioned into "modern anime".
Third, tastes have changed. You have people here unironically comparing Demon Slayer to Steins;Gate. What do you even expect?

I know this'll sound ridiculous but one of Re:Zero's success factors was people who started it for bright colors and cute waifus.

None of them are as known as Rem/Ram/Emilia. Even my non-weeb friends knows Rem.
