I lol'd at the Black Rock Shooter cameo.

Looks like this is a retelling from the beginning, incorporating some of the material from the color trailers. I definitely noticed that Weiss didn't have a scar at first.

(Also looks like some people commented about later episodes in this thread...)

Amusingly, I watched this just minutes after rewatching the last episode of the original's first season. Also I watched it in English. Based on what I heard, I'm pretty sure they brought back the original voice actors. Though Ruby's voice got a little lower/less giddy, it seems.

The character introductions did feel a bit rushed, especially with Blake seemingly suddenly cutting ties with Adam, but the fact that she apparently applied to Beacon (which is implied by the acceptance message) and the fact that she smiled at it suggests that she was already looking for a way out of the White Fang. Also I'm a little surprised that the mooks all followed Ruby outside, but I feel like that kinda also happens in the original -- not that I've checked it in years though. Meanwhile, we didn't get Yang's trailer, but oh well, I wasn't even expecting any of them, lol. On the other hand, I like how Weiss's trailer fight got formally incorporated into her backstory. The personalities of her family members were also exhibited meaningfully.

And yes, I noticed when
got shown while that one line was narrated. A bit ominous...

And yes I also noticed that the cookies scene wasn't remade. But I think they might have been pressed for time. This episode really was chock full of a lot of backstory.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.
