i had this happen for a year and a half due to my school grades dropping, i then proceeded to hanging with my friends i ended up straying from my friends and back to binging on anime. People get tired of things eventually its like a phase i guess, you cant fix it unless you are willing to. i just gave anime watching a break and recently got back into it

Watching anime is no trifling matter. Lack of motivation? Make haste, and find one. Or else, might as well apostatize and leave this medium altogether.

Continuous watching of anime without break will totally lowers your motivation. When i'm not busy i always limit my self to 20 episodes a day.

Some limit you have right there.

I've been like that for a while, but I just binged Monster in about a week and now I want to watch a lot of anime again.

i used to feel like this about new anime, so i would end up just rewatching my favorites over and over. I also just had so many things on my to watch list that it was overwhelming and i felt like they wouldn't be as good as the things I'd already watched. Now i just roll with a random number generator and jump into things with no expectations or knowledge about it, if i dont like it I'll drop it. Otherwise if i dont feel like continuing, but its good i throw it in my on hold list and have hope that i'll pick it up again someday

but i also take a lot of break periods to do other things like play video games or watch western shows, etc

I drop over a third of everything I watch, almost 40%. Not wanting to finish a series, even if you enjoy it, doesn't seem strange to me. I only watched 22 episodes of Berserk, loved it, and dropped it.

As far as feeling anxiety about starting a series goes, I found that's easiest to remedy that by literally watching random anime. If you have no expectations whatsoever from a series, and didn't select it to watch because you thought you would like it, or it was recommended to you, or anything like that, it's a lot easier to just load up the first episode and watch it with no preparation or forethought. After that it gets easier to start series, as you start to become aware that it really is as simple as sitting down and pressing play.

This means you're depressed

Just do something with your life, then you'll seek again the desire of watching more anime

Gr8 conclusion m8. Are you a therapist or something?

OT: I drop plenty of shows even if they are "good". If you don't feel like watching slice of life, the best slice of life show won't convince you to continue, simple as that.

this hit me. In the past I went through something simular. I had lots of anime downloads that I HAD to watch, not just for the sake of completing but also to clear storage. I felt like I didn't have it in me to actually start watching anything at all. I just laid there and knew very well I lost my motivation. I looked at a post to look for help and this guy posted something that turned my anime life around, "who gives a fuk bout motivation and just open up a episode". I did just that and surprisingly manage to slowly get some results.
