If only the Shingeki no Bahamut OP were released... We'd see that up at number one.

#1 for CD Singles this week sold 336,101. No chance of that happening overall, so I guess you must mean amongst anison...

No point arguing whether AgK is good anime because all these are subjective. What makes a good anime are different from each individual unless you are one of those self proclaim elitist and think everyone need to have same taste as you. SAO and Gundam Seed are selling like hot cake and better than most anime but most people in MAL wouldn't call both of those anime masterpiece. Shinsekai Yori anime sales is crap but people still consider it a great anime here in MAL. From sales perspective, things like publicity does help your sales which AgK didn't get much, thus lack of viewership and sales.

Akame ga Kill didn't sell well because it's really a generic fighting shounen series using edgy to disguise it as something deeper than it is. It's extremely rare for generic fighting shounen series to move BD/DVDs unless it has the support of the Fujoshis like Ao no Exorcist and Magi had. I bet Nanatsu no Taizai is going to sell significantly less than Akame ga Kill, even though it's already a massive success looking at the manga copies it had moved.

Lol, implying generic fighting shounens don't sell in Japan, also implying that AgK is a generic fighting shounen. Facepalm*

It was NEVER faithful to manga.

It was skipping stuff like character growth and story information ever since the first episode, not to mention generic-ized art style and toned down, well, everything.

Pure exaggeration.

And how dare they toned it down by omitting little girls who were raped by dogs and pregnant women who were eaten. Completely ruined characterization, duh.

Let's adapt Berserk but take out entire Eclipse story arc.

BRILLIANT IDEA.

AGK doesn't have any good characters except for Esdeath for people to really get attached to so they don't buy anythnig and watch it on TV instead, yes you can watch them on TV :)

The span between the anime, movie and the blu ray release probably killled alot of potential buyers :(

Those Love Live! sales. The producers must be happy right now.

AGK deserves that sales considering what they did to the anime.

Yes, of course they deserve that. How could they transform a shit manga into a decently good anime?

Because that dull side story about 3 girls being raped by dogs and tortured was TOTALLY relevant to the story, like Eclipse arc, and...wait, it wasn't. At all.

I see no reason to discuss adaptation intricacies with akg haters.

It helps to establish the tone
.

The adaptation has been a horrible mess since Episode One and that's why anime failed.

If it was a faithful adaptation it would have sold way more.
