One Piece?
If it ever ends, quite possibly.
Okay apparently no except for Splitter here. Keep in mind that LOGH is like 99% dialogue driven and you pretty much have to have a moderate understanding of politics in order for it to mean anything to you. Clannad AS is without a doubt the more approachable of the two series since it is meant to appeal directly to the basic instincts (sex appeal, emotion, angst etc.) whereas LOGH tackles multiple issues on multiple levels and frequently tackles them at the same time so it can be a lot more difficult to follow what is going on.
Anyway If I absolutely had to measure them up against one another I'd say Clannad AS provides cheap thrills, emotional rollercoasters, and laughs and passes the time well enough with one really good arc before the end, while LOGH provides a more thought provoking experience over a long sometimes slow paced story that challenges the viewers conception of what the progression of events all mean and on a much grander scale than most anime will ever try to tackle. Also in LOGH when one event happens it tends to affect another, which tends to affect another and so on until it sometimes affects people on the other side of the conflict all the way across the galaxy (civilians, soldiers, politicians and people on all levels of society, which we actually get to see), whereas in Clannad After Story the individual girls arcs tend to be largely self-contained making it easy to focus on whatever story they are trying to tell at the time. Once each girls problem is solved however they tend to get pushed out of the story in terms of relevance but for a few future gimmick appearances, whereas with LOGH people tend to come and go as the story shifts it's focus to them, which sometimes can lead to an entire episode without a main character appearing even once, but more than likely when they come back they'll quickly become relevant to the narrative again for some time to come.
Of course I admit a bit of a bias here since I like stories told on a grand scale with lots of political intrigue and complexity, but hopefully I've been fair to both shows as best I can in my position.
Fun Fact: On the same day Clannad After Story took the top spot from LOGH on MAL's rankings, LOGH took the top spot from Clannad After Story on Animedb's rankings. This means that if they want people can now fight over which poll is more important, or they can realize that it's just a poll and not turn it into a competition.

YAY FINALLY. LOGH is so shallow compared to After Story anyway. And After Story has great animation, whereas LOGH is hard to look at. Ater Story SHOULD be no.1 since it's the only anime to ever make me cry seriously ;_;
The characters were all guys too, where are my kawaii waifus? What a sausagefest.
