Over half of the novels are about thought of the characters and descriptions which are left out in the anime so only someone that read the novel can truly enjoy the anime (Yeah that's pretty much stupid).

there is one significant plothole i know in the Anime and the LN on how kirito and liz were able to survive after they skydived off of a dragon, even in the novel they say they slid down the mountain and landed without damage

now THATS a major plot hole and a fact that no fan can deny, haters could easily use this to bash the show but they didn't even think of it
