Ghin ended up as a great villain and Zoro vs Mihawk as well as Luffy vs Krieg ended up as great fights. It's as if the show knew exactly what I thought the downsides of it were and fixed them. Now I can only hope that, assuming Sanji will join next episode, the formula will be changed from what it's been since episode 2.

I guess Luffy's confidence comes from where Ghin suggested, his resolve. Luffy knows what he believes in, he knows when to pick his fights, and he knows he will be the king of pirates. Since it's all set in stone for him he doesn't need to flinch, no matter what scenario presents itself.

To touch more on the fight, it was juicy. I loved the endurance style battle, it's as if Luffy had to beat through weapon upon weapon and even armor with sheer force and will power dodging gimmicks along the way, and once all of that was done the battle was his. The double gum gum bazooka was great, and I love how Luffy had no hessitation while in the steel net. I wonder if and when we'll see him break composure. We sort of did when Buggy broke his hat, but it's not in the same sense, I want to see what could possibly make his revel in hopelessness, if there even is such a thing.

And Nami, I don't care if you need to kill Arlong or something to be "free", you're still scum in my book. You left your friends to die without saying anything, no crying makes up for that. I forget if she knew what was going on at the time, but I'm pretty sure she at least knew about Ghin. You could reason that she thought Luffy wouldn't be able to leave for a year so she took the ship but even then that's still leaving behind Usopp and Zoro.

For a bit of a nitpick, I still feel like characters, specifically villains wear their ideologies on their sleeves too often. Buggy was all about only material things being treasure, and Don Krieg said countless times "the stronger guy wins because he has stronger equipment and forces!", as if in both cases to beat into our heads that they're wrong. It's not necessarily a big issue, but I prefer it to be at least a bit more subtle than that.

Even if he was a walking armory with a 1-ton weapon he lugs around all the time, seeing Krieg suddenly appear at the top of the mast in an instant was impressive. That didn't stop him from getting owned by Luffy's Rubber Sledgehammer though! The man still sleepfights on his own two feet despite getting a really big concussion from that impact and it was hilarious.

Gin intends to go back into Grand Line because it's the only thing he wants to do. With that poison in him acting up and all those men crammed into that tiny boat, I doubt that he'll make it far but the idea of the Straw Hats possibly encountering the remains of their ship later on is pretty sad.

It's funny that everyone was celebrating Luffy's victory while he sinks to the bottom only for Sanji to get notified about him not being able to resurface by Zeff. He always falls asleep while drowning that it's become a habit. Nami's arc is finally gonna begin! The Arlong HD version OVA was actually the first time I watched something OP-related to completion so I'm excited.

Goodbyeeeee Don Krieg.

Of all of the major antagonists Luffy has battled so far, he is by far the least interesting or dynamic, he was just "bad guy". Overall just super undeveloped.

Oh, that and he, like, wouldn't die. Stay down, man. Shit.

EDIT: I will say that I appreciate that he is the first enemy Luffy has faced that has experienced the Grand Line, that is a smart progression on Oda's part, but he is more bully than villain to me.

However, seeing Sanji and Luffy bond is a treat every time I watch this arc, and it reminds me why I loved Sanji so much as a kid.

That was a nice fight, I also want to see them in the future.

Nami is really annoying, she left them and asked herself if they will still accept her? Shut up lol

He was on a plan for the whole time. Luffy was just amazing there. He knew when to strike. Go to hell Don Kreig. This man is pathetic. He didn't had any strength accept his filthy weapons. He fought disgusting. Good Luffy, he just broke his armor and showed him who is the boss. Captain Choirboy Monkey D. Luffy wins.

Good to see Going Marry again. Screw you Nami!! Foolish girl abandoned them and now regretting. However she is the only navigator Luffy wants. Lucky her!!!

Luffy's punches must have been pretty crazy to be able to punch through Don's armour.

It's still boggling how many weapons Don had inbuilt in his armour. Bullets, darts, gas bombs, explosive spears, steel nets, flamethrowers, etc.

So is Ghin gonna die or not? He did say he only had a few hours to live.

What's up with Nami? She's going on a death mission or something?

These multi-episode fights that end every arc are my least favorite parts of the show. The stories surrounding them are great, though.

Okay, that felt like a satisfying end to the fight for me.

Man, Krieg is so strong but he is a complete coward who relies nearly solely on little gimmicky weapons that he just gets destroyed without them, even though he's so powerful.

I thought for sure, even though I saw the introduction and saw Sanji spinning around on deck of the Going Merry (or another ship?) with his legs, that he'd somehow lose a leg or something similar to how when Zeff saved him, but nope. I'm happy he was able to save Luffy.

On another note, how actual stockholm'd is Ghin. Guy is basically on-par with Don Krieg in raw strength, and yet he still, even after the dude poisons him and revels in his (thought-to-be) eventual death, he picks him up and says they're going to start anew. Like, no man, you don't start anew from that. I'm curious if we'll see Ghin again. I wish we never see Don Krieg again (though, given that he lived.. I think we will, perhaps as some weird half-robot guy with all the machine/tech he likes to use currently).

Also, I think perhaps I was correct in the earlier prediction? Nami might be related (her dad?) to Arlong, that's why she resents pirates so much and she said how she wants to be free in the last scene of this episode! How far back are Ussop and Zoro?

i was here to write the same thing lol

This last part of the episode was kinda sad, but it offer so many options to the author to make Nami's backstory. Im so curious and looking forward to it and to know more about her.

and i also need her to become part of the crew again, i already miss her ( ɵ̥̥︹ɵ̥̥)

Is anyone else seeing the panda throwing a peace sign at the end?
Or am i going crazy?
And it seems Nami has abandonment issues, cutting everyone of before they get the chance to cut her of.

terrible arc full of suspension of disbelief to the max! 🤢 one piece is mid 1/5.
the stoopid arc continues in the next episode even, because Sanji is a total bitch on it like... join already.

That was a really boring fight. I hope in the future they'll concentrate more on exploring the world and meeting new interesting characters.

you'll be disappointed tbh, the show never change its pace and ridiculous humor, yea that bad it is.

they were absent during all these three or so eps, I don't know where they reach up, I guess luffy will pick them later on
