you know for once instead of just criticizing the topic question can you actually just answer it? I asked for clarification on why I should cast a negative light onto one anime's fandom just because of the actions of some super-fans and wondered why I should treat those super-fans as exclusive to one anime. As you can see I don't readily join in on bitchfests, internet lynchings, or stone throwing without proper explanation. |

As you can see I don't readily join in on bitchfests, internet lynchings, or stone throwing without proper explanation. If you have to question "why" then you may as well not join in at all. There's nothing to be clarified - the OP is asking what anime has the worst fandom and that's that. I don't see why it matters if they're in other fandoms. You don't have to treat them as exclusive to one anime. We're talking about the fandom as a whole - not the individual fan that's causing this. You're overthinking the question. |

We're talking about the fandom as a whole - not the individual fan that's causing this. No you're not. The topic is using the actions of some extreme fans within a particular anime fandoman then trying to act as if that group of extreme fans are representative of that anime's fandom. Sorry if you can't see that by talking about the fandoms you are also inherently talking about the fans themselves. |

Sorry if you can't see that by talking about the fandoms you are also inherently talking about the fans themselves. Some extreme fans that's more then one fan. If they didn't represent the fandom in some way or another, then there wouldn't be an anime with a bad fandom to begin with. An anime fandom always has a good side and the bad side, and this thread is focusing on which fandom we think is the worst when it comes to their bad sides. |

Lelouch is an awsome protagonist and all, but people say they won't watch the new Code Geass OVA since it doesn't even have Lelouch. Way to stay faithful to a series, ass hats. And the Death Note fanbase is full of people saying it's the best anime ever when they've only seen 2 other anime series. Mostly Bleach or Naruto. |

| To be fair, all fandoms have a few bad eggs, but some of them do have more than others. I tend to believe that Naruto has such a bad fandom because of a combination of overexposure and sheer ignorance. I gauge that many fans of Naruto that I've encountered in everyday life have really only been exposed to Naruto and think that it's just the best darn anime on the face of the planet due to a lack of branching out and trying new anime. They don't know that anything better than Naruto exists. High School of the Dead fans could swear that it's so great. That is all that I can say about that fandom. Jenii said: Hetaliatards, Narutards, Moetards and all others aside, there's another fandom that doesn't really make sense. "Golden age anime" elitists who think that every single anime from the 80's-90's is the greatest thing ever and everything since 2000 is bland unoriginal trash with horrible animation. Also, Cowboy Bebop fans (not all, but those who watched only Bebop alone) who think it is the most godly anime ever just because they saw it on Adult Swim and refuse to watch anything else because "everything else is moe comedy highschool trash", or simply "not western enough". Yes, I met plenty of those people. I've never encountered fans who thought along those lines. I personally love Bebop, and I find it sad that it has fans of that caliber. DYRE said: BloodRequiem said: KyoAni fandom is built around group membership as reward for mandatory circle jerking. It is the anime equivalent of a death cult. So basically they are simple minded Amine/Manga Fans, probably seen shows like Fairy Tail and Medaka's Box and make a generalization that the "new" Amine/Manga must suck like they represent the entire medium. Honestly, I think people like that are a bit less annoying than the opposite group, that won't watch any "old" (before 2000) anime on principle, if only because they're less common. Anyway, every fandom has its share of good and bad people in it. More popular shows are going to have a much more vocal fanbase, though, which means you're going to notice the bad fans a lot more easily. I have a friend who thinks in a similar manner, but her biggest qualm is the "inferiority" of the animation of old anime. Her feelings about old video games are much the same, and it just irks the heck out of me. Talk about shallow. |

| I'd have to go with Hetalia. I don't normally let a fanbase ruin a series for me, but Hetalia's the exception. My biggest problem with them is that they're so hard to avoid sometimes. I've seen Hetalia being brought up in the comments of completely unrelated YouTube videos just because a country was mentioned. And apparently half of the fans are full-time Hetalia RPers or something, because that's all I ever see when Hetalia is mentioned. Also, series with a lot of shipping tend to have less-than-pleasant fanbases just because some people take their favorite pairings so seriously that they feel the need to argue about them (like it will make any difference) or bring up non-cannon pairings at inappropriate times. |

| Hetalia, definitely. And One Piece, even though One Piece is pretty alright. And Naruto. And Death Note. And Bleach. And FMA. And... Well, pretty much name any extremely famous, often overrated anime and you have a grade-A example of a horrible fanbase. And despite it being my "starter" anime (for which I'll always like it at least somewhat for), I have to admit that a lot of Lucky Star fans are really, REALLY annoying. tripleaaa said: I think the serious "waifu" crowd is the worst part.
