| I don't understand what's great about Shinichiro Watanabe. From the 4 shows he directed that I've watched, 2 of them were frankly pointless, waste of time(Bebop and Champloo)... the other one fails spectacularly at delivering on a good premise(Terror in Resonance) and only one is great at what it sets out to do(Kids on the Slope). |
| I don't know man, I kinda love most of your favs. Ergo Proxy bored me to tears though, plus I really really hate that kind of aesthetic. But I can also see the appeal of the show and I like what it was going for. But that's all the bad. EoE is still the best anime movie ever made, Aria is my favorite series and I own the whole manga, and I'm 30 episodes into Sakura and it's super nice. So yeah, that's about it. Oh, and I love Shinobu. |

| I'm going to watch Hyouka this year. If it sucks, I'm punching you in the face. Fuck me, Zaregato is one of the worst series Issin has ever produced, which is why you barely see it advertised, I bet most people don't even know it exist. The series is a jumble of his most used tropes and cliches put into a little book, so much so it'd make Koyomimonogatari blush. I wont judge your favorite characters harshly, because they're actually pretty good. I like Nisio, Isin, he's one of my favorite authors, but is basically the anime version of Stephen King in regards to his writing. He's not that great of an author, minus the fact that, unlike King, he doesn't admit it, just has a lot of works that are hit and miss, and most are the latter, sadly, despite his immense potential he limits himself down to generic tropes that any 15 year old can write. It's sad, really, but at lest he does what he enjoys, and makes money off it. I wont deny the fact that at times he is very clever in regards to his characters, for instance, Kaiki Deishu is one of the most complex, and well thought of constructs I've ever seen, yet, in contrast, he makes annoying tarts like Mayoi that make the audience cringe when she's on screen with jokes Issin thinks are oh, so hilarious! To be honest, Issin reminds of a decent, quirk fanfic writer. |
