i never understood why the homunculi are working so hard to manipulate and maintain the military so their "sacrifices" could stay safe. If they need them so badly, why not just lock them up in a cage or something instead of wasting all that effort?

As for how Ross is getting convicted I'm pretty sure that's just the manipulation of Envy disguised as one of the higher ranked officers making up bullshit for the soldiers to believe

Synopsis
Edward, Alphonse, and Winry arrive in Central, though Ling gets arrested for being an illegal immigrant. Sheska accidentally reveals some information on Mustang to Envy, disguised as
Captain Focker, one of her superiors. Armstrong informs Mustang that he was unable to tell the
Elric brothers about Hughes' death. When they meet up with Mustang, he falsely says that
Hughes has retired from the state military.
However, they soon learn the truth after encountering Ross. Winry soon finds out the truth as well after visiting Gracia and Elicia. Edward, along with Alphonse, arrive to apologize, since
Edward blames himself for Hughes' murder.
Gracia encourages them to push forward, even though she is holding back her tears. Envy comes up with a plan to stop Mustang from investigating
Hughes' murder, and the next day, Ross is arrested by Colonel Henry Douglas as a suspect for it.

YOU BETTER LEAVE THE BEST GIRL ALONE!!!!! DOnt charge her with any crimes!!!! Yes, Maria Ross is the best girl, both in FMA 2003 and FMAB

I don't blame you for saying so, personally can't decide between her or Sheska.

Pretty good episode
Followed the manga mostly .
removed two or three things I wished they would have added , but oh well.
Either way , this was mostly a " how and why " episode.
Showed why and how the brother came to be how they are.
with Ed seeing the Truth .
then Roy meeting the brothers
Ed vowing to take 1 year to recover and him consequently being able to transmute without Circles thanks to him having seen "IT" ( and Al not remembering).
And finally Ed's Exam to become a state alchemist , where he promtly attacked Bradly who told him he still doesn't know the world xD.
Thus showing how the fuhrur gave Ed an "ironic" name : the FullMetal Alchemist.

Next week , they goin' to Liore/Reole ~

oh , and the score was pretty darn awesome. Akira Senju delivers !!

This was a great episode overall, just when the whole thing with Lieutenant Hughes is over, the Elric brothers find out about his death. I really did like Maes as a character, funny, a good but ever so overprotective father and a beloved friend and ally. Things are picking up here.

Again this episode was okay. I really liked Riza and Hughes wife in this episode they were awesome. But why I still think that this episode was 3/5. Mustang being soft in my opinion does not match to his character. Why? Because he said that he deeply cares about people he love. So if he actually cared about the boys he should have told them about Hughes and to be careful. Beside he killed so many innocent people in Ishval so how is it that he manage to kill people in ishibal but he is not able to tell the boys about Hughes? I know he did not want to do it but he still did it and somehow is living his life and trying to become the leader of the country. Let's talk about Ed. This idiot manage to understand why Hughes was killed instantly but didn't understand that his master saw the truth for years? WHAT THE ACTUAL F? Btw I hate Yao. This guy is so lame.

New OP and ED! I prefer the first OP, but the current OP is really nice as well. I absolutely love the current ED too.

So finally Ed, Al and Winry find out about Hughes' death. I thought Mustang would tell them the truth, but in the end he didn't have the heart either. Between not having the heart and maybe he's afraid of blaming Ed and Al for Hughes' death. I don't know, I liked him from the beginning, but from the preview of the next episode it seems that something will really start to change for him... it will most likely affect Ed and Al too.

I'm honestly very surprised that Havoc's new girlfriend is Lust. I don't know how it ends, but these homunculus are driving me crazy. Especially Envy who keeps changing their form to trick people including Sheska who has fallen for their trick. Argh. I wish she didn't tell that devil what Mustang was looking for T__T

I don't know what will happen to Maria and Havoc after this... I'm scared to think about it

I didn't like the plotline for this episode. I hate when authors make people lie and pretend someone's still alive to not "hurt" someone. Nobody does that crap in real life. You get sad, cry and move on. Second, why the fuck is Winry crying over Hughes who she doesn't even fucking know that well and why is Ed telling military secrets to his wife? You trynna get her killed too? Worhtless episode. The kids are old as fuck and they're soldiers!!! Why the fuck would you ever treat them like that? Hughes was also a soldier btw. He was gonna die regardless of what Ed or Al did at some point cause hes a soldier and he signed up for that shit.

It was so neat that they followed up with the blond subordinate of Roy's dialogues about wanting a gf / his continued appearance with actual plot relevance. Gods,,,, I love how tight they run this ship because puzzle pieces just slot into place one after another in the most elegant way. The adults protecting the brothers and their different perspectives on what constitutes as belligerent honesty is refreshing. I like that they actually treat them as kids, and it was heartbreaking to see Gracia using what they knew about Hughes/his personality to comfort them and urge them not to undertake the blame for his death and grieving in quiet. Each of the kids ways to express and process their grief is interesting to see and the loss and confusion as to how to proceed,,, mannnn tears man. LOL AND NOT TO SAY ROY MUSTANG IS BECOMING MY FAVOURITE BUT there's so much going on with him. Change the institution from within and how he's so deliberate in all his actions.... It was also cute to see Sheska protecting his dignity and also Sheska appearance so +10000 lolz
