Though the ending leaves it a little open for them to do something with it. Also.The anime covered volumes 1-4 from the published light novel and a bit of volume 8. GGO(next game) is volumes 5-6. After that in another small arc in volume 7, Mother's Rosario,where Asuna is the MC with another new girl(No she isnt part of the harem at all). Volume 8 has a chapter which can become an ova where Kirito and the rest(except Agil) go on a ALO quest to obtain Excaliber.This is between GGO and Mother's Rosario. Volume 9 - 11(latest volume) are the Underworld arc which probably ends in volume 15. There are a lot of stuff to animate IF the decide to. |

There are already 11 or twelve out, and the author says he is not done yet. So, if the anime is as successful (or even half as successful) as it seems to be (SAO blows charts of sales away) there can be 2, 3 or even more seasons |

I have a feeling A-1 is gonna spoil it in the opening sequence, if they do adapt it, but i should've made it a bit more vague though. |

| I'm pretty sure they're going to do the GGO arc. It's a popular series; there's no way they're not going to continue it. I'd say wait a year or so. We'll definitely get some news by then. |
