That is less appropriation, and more of a long term cultural shift driven by consumerism.

No, and this just shows your complete lack of understanding on the subject. Being against cultural appropriation isn't holding up cultural beliefs as a sacred cow. You don't own your culture. So you don't get to decide who follows it, who can talk about it, and who can adopt or change it.

I'm too lazy to see if this has been said yet but can we take a moment to realize He used the rise of anime in pop culture and the ironic self hate that was becoming popular at the time to make himself famous. Pretty fucking genius.

Cultural appropriation is an interesting discussion, so I'll be glad to have it.

Frank is also a big internet figure so talking about him, what ideas he represents is fun too.
