At least Pitou's more cat/ant-like instead of being human, either way.

Does it really matter? Pitou as genderless would make more sense though. Wouldn't it just be easier if people used they/their pronouns anyway?

We're still not done with this? :/

I thought it was already an established fact that all chimera ant (except for the queen) are all males.

Like i post earlier, Pitou is officially male, by databook.

彼 is also used when the gender is unspecified, though. So it doesn't really prove anything. I'm just going with-

Manga version: Male
TV Version: Female

It doesn't really matter, either way. From this point on, I won't care whether people use 'he' or 'she', because Pitou's intentionally meant to be very ambiguous in this regard.

Which chapter in the manga where it says Pitou is male? Haven't read the manga for long time. Can't remember.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I've always been under the impression that Pitou's gender was indeterminate and unimportant, what with it being a non-human monstrosity and all.

Even animals have genders.

But yeah, I pretty much stopped caring. Neferpitou sounds & looks too much like a girl for me to think otherwise.

Yeah, plus she's cat-themed, and most label those creatures as effeminate and having feminine characteristics.

Female, for many reasons.

I do think Togashi may have been undecided when he first introduced the character, but in the later part of the manga, she clearly is drawn with breasts, an hour-glass figure and referenced in ways that indicate she is female. In the anime, she is undeniably female, I wonder why anime-only viewers would even question otherwise.

Traps are supposed to have female qualities. That's why they are called traps.

Anyways don't know about the manga but Pitou is a female in the anime.

Woman is in the anime because has........ boobs? In the manga also has boobs. She is a woman.

Pitou can't be called a "woman" because she's a Chimera Ant. The term you're looking for is female.

And no, just because she has boobs doesn't automatically make her a female. Like Wyzdm said, they're called traps for a reason. You see that picture I just posted a few posts earlier? That's Poison from the fighting game Street Fighter. He's also a dude.

As for Pitou's gender, we'll probably never really know. In an official data book, Pitou is referred to as a male but in the anime/manga, Pitou is never referred to as a male nor a female (he/she), always as "it".

Hunterpedia

In the cover of Volume 28 which is implied to be based off the coronation of Virgin Mary, Neferpitou takes the middle position which corresponds to Virgin Mary's.

So....... Togashi did even divine trick?

I'm a guy, so I prefer Pitou as a "female" :)

Wrong, all wrong
"Traps" as they're always portrayed in anime/manga are just boys who look like girls or just overall androgynous boys. They never have breasts like a woman.
Poison and any male character with breasts are transexuals (and even then Poison is not confirmed to be a transexual, they're leaving it up to the audience to decide as the character was conceived as a female). Comparing that to Pitou is a complete false equivalence because Pitou is not a transexual (as far as we could possibly know at least).

So no, saying "lol poison" does not invalidate the possible breasts of an ambiguous character because they're two very different things.

The official databook says pitou is male, that's all there is to it. I'm guessing a lot of you aren't aware, but transgender people do exist, and pitou and kurapika are heavily coded as trans. Looks don't decide gender. Please respect his pronouns and gender bc otherwise you're honestly just being rude.

I say a she. You can't say that the manga uses "he" or whatever because japanese pronouns aren't gender specific, so the translators just chose one.

What reason is there to believe Kurapika is trans? Feminine-looking guys exist too.

Looking at the evidence, I believe Pitou is technically male. However. Pitou isn't of the human species, they're a chimera ant. Human concepts of sex and gender don't need to apply to Frankenstein insect monsters, so in the end, it really doesn't matter.

Alluka is trans.
Kalluto is cross-dresser.
Kurapika is male.

Neferpitou, imo is androgynous in manga (tho I believe royal guards are non-binary) and female in anime.

But in the end, does it even matter? (Lol)
I mean you guys can ask it as much as you want but neither me nor anyone can change your mind if you have your own answers. And a characters gender isn't the most important thing out there. Believe it xp

(But Kurapika IS male god.)

I am confused about something. I originally though that chimera ants have no gender (they just resembled male or female) and they reproduce by phagogenesis, but at some point it was said that once the Queen is dead the soldier ants would start going around the world and copulate females. So they do have reproductory organs? But what about the Royal Guards, could it be that they dont cause their sole purpose is to serve the King?

About Pitou's gender, in the manga i guess she is genderless and definitely not a male, but in the anime she clearly is a female, so for me that settles it, it is much more preferable that way at the end of the day. In some forum or comment section i heard someone say that gender is about the personality characteristics of someone. I dont know if it is only a Japanese thing, but while what sex someone is is absolute, the gender of a man whose character is just like a woman's would be, for example, is female. So anyway, Pitou is either "she" or "it", but definitely not "he".

I'll raise another question. Is ALLUKA male or female?

"the official data book lists Alluka's gender as male, and two of Alluka's brothers, Illumi and Milluki, refer to Alluka as their brother. However, Killua, the person closest to Alluka, specifically states that Alluka is a girl[3] and refers to Alluka as his sister multiple times.[4] While Alluka may have been designated male at birth, Killua's interactions show that Alluka may identify as female. Still a Female for me.

Maybe Togashi wanted Pitou to be a Male at first, but Pitou appeared to be androgynous and did have the feminime side. Pitou even became more female as the manga goes on.

And Pitou is indeed a Female in Anime.

So it's basically

Manga= originally going to be Male, but became a Female later on
Anime=Female

At the end of the day Pitou is a Female.

Yes I'm stubborn, but we can have our own opinion. Pitou is a Female for me. Feel free to clasify Pitou as a "she" "he" or "it"

On the side note: Pitou is my favorite character, that I can't watched episode 131 anymore. It's tough for me to watch her die.

Not to Hisoka and certainly not for the ants.

He is a male btw, don't be confused by earlier scans. Togashi likes being ambiguous with gender once in a while (just look at the Zoldyck family if you read the manga) and we often get confirmation of one's characters' sex way later than their first appearance.

Family? There's more than just Kalluto?
