Hey, these are some sketches I did during class a while back. I probably saw similar pictures on the internet and they stuck with me while I daydreamed...so they probably resemble other characters (but I'm not sure who..sorry)

As I already said, I did them during class so you can see notes from the opposite sides of the pages I think. They also look kinda dark and blurry..meh.

Please let me know if you like them or what I can do to improve..

Difficult question to answer, and I don't consider myself talented. I think most people have a level of potential to a point where studying and training mode (with the right approach) will get them to a good level, but don't quote me on that. I've been studying art recently (anatomy/gestures, value studies, etc) and I think it has paid off.

Although I really messed up the proportions and now it's hard not to laugh at my own drawing...

I've meant to go through some of those Loomis books but I have to get motivated somehow..

I used SAI (+ tablet) and I believe kiwii-chan used SAI as well. 4 mb program ftw.
Oh I think you're generally supposed to use spoiler tags for your images in this thread to reduce huge picture loading all at once.

I envy you for having sai TT^TT. I love that program so much but only had it for the trial.

It's $50 for the license. That's not much compared to Photoshop and PainterX. That's like a video game!

it looks nice, but the background...you cant leave it like this. You put a lot of work into the rose, but the caulis ....hmmm not very good. the two leafs, dont look really natural, they look like you hadnt much time or you were tired. What will look nice is a combination with a simple sketch ( caulis and leaf) and your rose.

but It is actually good. =)

i was actually planning on fixing the background a bit more but i am tired because of working on it for a while. i just scribbled that in so it wont take as long later (i need some more charcoal). and i will probably try to fix the leaves and stem a bit as well.
