Things are starting to come to a head now in the series. Among other things, we've gotten confirmation that not only her family, but Lain's friends were fake as well, and the Knights are seemingly no more. My own question now to myself is whether or not it was all worth the wait. I personally don't think so. Mostly because the series unravels and climaxes in its' own unique way. The god discussions were quite interesting to me, especially in regard to the point that although beings can be all knowing, all present and all powerful, what makes them a god is whether or not they are worshipped. There's not really much else I have to say about the episode for once.

I can't lie, I was feeling a bit suicidal for a second there.. Kek. But towards the end; it felt like lain was trying to escape the animes in of itself. What a eerie feeling.

It is at this point in the story, where interpretation of what the story could mean really runs wild for me. It also seems to be going in a particular direction with Lain's rejection of the 'real' her being in the Wired that I think is really interesting. I am extremely hopeful for the last few episodes.

lain became all alone. also the knights got killed pretty damn fast lol. thought it would be harder to get rid of them. and looks like the story now will depend on what Lain chooses to do next. because she inst a real human being but wants to be.

Christ what an episode and as usual a lot to unpack but not as much as last episode lol, I took away a lot of emphasis of God hood from this one.

So the Doctor, Eiri Masami, uploaded himself in to the Wired and is actually the voice talking to Lain proclaiming to be "God of the Wired" and her creator. He believes another identifying trait (or the identifying trait) of being a "God" is having followers thus having a form of recognition, Lain then uses her powers of the Wired to dox every single member of the Knights around the globe which is fucking insane. Although it seems it was effective as even Eiri Masami applauds her work, he states he won't truly disappear as long as he has one believer that being Lain.

I feel a lot of this episode was also Lain's becoming self aware or coming to terms with herself, she's seeing how she is this God like entity, being told by her "creator" she doesn't have a real body and is more like an A.I that was born in the Wired with the irl body being some fake or hologram as well as her family and friends, additionally her shy personality is suffering from the effects of being erased and her worst night mare of not being needed in the real world is coming alive even though she tried hard to not stand out. Eiri Masami actively seems to try and tell Lain to throw her real body away and persuade her to join him in something since her love will mean he will keep living, however she rejects that and i think that's really powerful. She refuses to believe the other "Lain" in the Wired is her real self, and instead wants to hold onto the belief that she is real person/human which brings that self awareness in. Honestly loving where this plot is going even if i'm probably fucking wrong as shit as i have been on about 90% of my theories about this show so far lmfao.

The Black suits also played a crucial and interesting part in this ep. They were the clean up crew for the Knights and work under a client, it's unclear but it seems they themselves have a massive association that spans the globe since the Knights seemed like a global following and the Black Suits seemed to be able to match that width. I'm guessing the "clients" end goal is containing the Wired, being the iron fist of the law that decided the Wired will not be some special safe haven and instead a sub system that will better reinforce the current real world order, and as they said themselves, removing Eiri Masami's program because, "We have no need for Gods." Honestly such a hard line, speaks volumes of the role the black suits and their clients will be playing of in this story.
Also the scene of that one member taking his headpiece off and talking to Lain directly i thought was really important. Very symbolic he took the headpiece off first to look at her directly as that scene then felt 10x more personal like he was speaking to her not as a black suit, but as a person. His declaration of love to Lain that follows i think is more akin to how a person would express their love to a God, even though his work involves actively trying to stop a God like entity and rejecting God, doesn't mean he can't still be a man of faith or religion and i want to say that for some reason he puts his faith and believe in Lain.

Was also shockingly surprise how Lain's "father" left on a good note. Although we don't see what happens to the family, i really expected him to break some dark truth that he was deeply involved with Eiri Masami's work on the 7th gen programs and only ever saw Lain as an experiment to watch over, but no, it was really more like a father saying a some what heartfelt goodbye to a child he really considered his own. Lmao looking back at it, he may not of been the best dad, but give him some slack, i couldn't imagine the amount of pressure he felt knowing he was caring for a unbeknownst God as if it was his own, and trying to led them in a healthy direction.

Kinda weird tho. I should've mentioned it before but why the fuck are the shadows look so abnormal, so strange. So she gone off the rails, totally she has, she must be on some strong drugs tho. She connected wires or wtf is that and the groomers are here, so let us make it end and quit the internet/Wired that she should has done even way before, btw how would she pay money for the house and wtf is up with these parents? Do not they give a fuck that their elder girl literraly lost an ability to speak and she sneaks throughout the house and acts very strange, do not they give a damn that their lil' daughter made from a cutie room into the mad scientisto' lab or whatever it is?

Imma be honest, things look so weird now, the sinister valley effect, hope it will not require any essay in the future

And OPening feels different now

And when I thought I was understanding Serial Experiments Lain, this episode comes and makes me even more confused.

I think the most confusing part really was the beginning, because what Lain was saying seemed like it should be Masami saying it. Who wants to be the god of the Wired, Lain or Masami? By the end of the episode it really seems that is Masami the one with that ambition.

It's also revealed that Lain really isn't a human, and was created in the Wired. Whatever that means I suppose, because I'm not sure I fully understand how did she ended up in the real world, but anyways. Masami was the one that created her, and now was using her to make him the God of the Wired. For that he used the Knights, that did a lot of stuff for him, including making Lain more and more confused about her identity, so she would end up find a ray of hope in Masami, the "God".
But Lain is opposed to the idea she only exists in the Wired, and does not want to be part of it.
Someone pointed out how it's interesting the contrasts between her and Chisa, from the 1st episode, because Chisa did exactly the opposite, she was from the real world, and killed herself so that she could only be in the Wired.

Last episode it was hinted that Lain's family were only taking her in for some experiment, and that is officially over, for some reason. This scene was really confusing though. What was up with her sister? Was that room Lain's room, or her sister's? And if it was hers, why was it "normal" again, with no computers? If the dad ended up "loving" Lain, why is he leaving her behind, all alone?
So much happened, and I didn't really understand it.

We're already by episode 10, and this anime maintains it's very limited facts exposition, and we're here catching everything we can, without really knowing what's happening.

I'm not sure what's happening in the end either, Lain is using her Wired powers to end with Masami?
And what is Lain exactly? Her not being a human is kinda interesting, because I didn't mention earlier, but I always thought it was weird Lain had a different skin color than the other characters, she seemed much more pale (in a way, morbid) than even her sister and parents, and this might be why.

@PokefanPT

The show never truly confirms if Lain was created in the Wired, the answer to what Lain really is intentionally left to be ambigious. And LaiN's existence reaches beyond the Wired, the ending especially shows that.

Ok wow.

There goes everything I guess. Cool seeing the knights get hunted down.

Also there goes Lain's family. Her fake dad I guess loved her? but then there's also Karl saying he loves her. Idk all kinda weird.

What a dark episode!

So, Masami, unbound by the limits of the physical world, has uploaded his consciousness into the Wired, and now that Lain is on his level, he's here to... I don't know, fight her? Or maybe court her? Two sides of the same coin, really.

In a very heavy episode, the most disturbing part was the scene at home, especially the exchange with the "dad." It's now explicitly stated by him that they're not family, and it hurts a lot to hear, even if we already suspected. Poor Lain, I really felt for her. The scene at school was also difficult to watch.

The Knights are all gone. I guess Lain is safe (from them, at least). I had troubled understanding Lain's reaction, but it makes sense in hindsight: not only is it against her morals, but she didn't ask for this, and she probably feels like it pushes her further from her humanity, which she really doesn't need.

The line between what's real and what's not is blurrier than ever.

Technobabble. Jesus, as in people being so hysterical with a messiah to mistake them for a God. Was mostly telegraphed. Truman Show family was telegraphed. Sister may have observed Lain. Alice being Lain's enabling projection was telegraphed. Knights hitlist was like the only new thing. So many caricatures, I cringe badly. Colored Masonry sigil for once. Mysteries debt compounded.
