@LSSJ_Gaming Nobody is openly themselves on the internet, I literally AM a hairy overweight Persian man that has down syndrome but my profile picture is a simple "LR" (you have to really focus if you can't see the L). But idk if you're okay with getting shit for it then really I don't have much to say.

I want to see more people comfortable with being able to participate in the community regardless of their immutable qualities and I know I'm not going to be well liked for it, but its important to me and many others to have someone willing to push for that step for a more accepting community for fans of Japanese animation. The community can be pretty exclusionary to some groups and I feel it is important to try and push that barrier by speaking up more. I've been a part of the community for 7 years, and I don't want others to be scared away just because of who they are |

| @Tropisch I don't agree with LSSJ on many things, but we could just ignore her instead of arguing on MAL. Every time we argue with somebody we don't like, we give their ideas a free platform, even if the attention is all negative. And while I typically disagree with her, there are some times where the people arguing against her are worse, like in this thread. The best idea would be to just ignore her in these threads, and if somebody must argue, they should not make it about her being LGBT. Don't forget, political tourists come from both ends. |

| @Lhundrup It's literally not a bad thing to call out toxicity. When there's so much wrong with the community someone needs to step up and try and point these things out. People are being excluded for who they are and hateful away and have become the norm with nobody seeming to care. I've grown past my hateful days as a teenager and now want to help the community grow as well. All this anti-woke bullshit has poisoned the community and gatekeeping has gotten so bad its infuriating. Art is for everyone, yet fans of Japanese animation are quick to hate on others and push other people away and I am sick and tired of it and need to do SOMETHING. It feels like nobody else wants to speak up so I wanted to take initiative and be that person. I just want a more accepting fandom instead of the toxic cesspit it has become as it gives a really bad impression to the general audience if the community is so bigoted and spiteful of anyone who is a minority group or even just a casual or newer fan. It's so tiring and I want to fight off this image and help the community do better. I have people who support this and met great people through this push, but I want to do more, I want to make this place better, and for the most part it just gets more hatred from jerks trying to purposefully make me angry to get me to slip up and give in to some of my anger instead of keeping to a more eloquent approach since sometimes I struggle to keep my emotions from clouding my writing as the anger at the people just being hateful can get to me even though for the most part I try and not let it do so. |
