yo machikado mazoku literally a gold.
some of the best comedy / gag without any cheese (cheap and tasteless 'fun') + great production quality.

MAL score and most user-based rating system are all joke, Imagine trusting plebs and hivemind. Find users who have good sense and rating and use them as a reference. Check my guide to rate
Your taste is trash. Cope, seethe, mald

Danmachi is alright. I thought they did good job with Food Wars.

OPM season 2 was acceptable. The hate was overblown.

Pretty bad studio nowadays.
The last good anime that they made is High Score Girl.
I miss the Shana, Toradora, Slayers, Utena, Honey and Clover, Railgun, Little Busters and Heavy Object days of J.C Staff says
Least they are not Studio Pierrot bad just yet.

In my opinion, looking at older and newer anime they've done, with the exception of Slayers, Slayers: The Motion Picture, Princess Rouge, Maze (and that anime was terrible) and Utena, about 75% of J.C. Staff's art/animation quality for its anime don't cut it. Usually the art looks rougher compared to other studios, the movements are choppier, and the colors don't match or are ugly, some of the worst looking examples are Voogie's Angel, Hyper Speed Grandoll and especially Virus Buster Serge, (but then again it's because Obari's artwork sucks 90% of the time) and the infamous Garzey's Wing, Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer was probably the worst of all. I even saw parts of the Galaxy Fraulein Yuna OVAs and the animation/art was just mediocre. Most of the stories of the anime I mentioned aren't that great either (the radio drama for Voogie's Angel was way better than anything the anime version showed).

They got slightly better in the newer years, but still could be better. The Demon Girl anime I'd like to watch if I didn't have to pay for an account on HIDIVE, and there's no way in hell I'm looking at Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? the minute I found out they started shoving incest shit in it and the MILF fanservice isn't all that impressive neither.

I'm more of an (old-school) Toei Animation, Sunrise and AIC fan.

I believe that I still feel a sense of aversion to that studio and their anime. I'm more a Sunrise type of guy btw.

Also, there is something about that studio that just doesn't feel dominant, daring, hip, innovative or competitive (think Disney). A studio without those qualities has no chance of success (like Microsoft or some big business). Are you gonna make more money selling bland T-shirts or ones that seem more stylish?

They're pulling off four shows simultaneously this season! What a remarkable feat by J.C. Staff! Or so is what I want to say but what's average remains average no matter the quantity. Even if J.C. Staff were to release 10 or 20 shows per season, if their output is average it'll still be taken as average. Honestly, I now avoid watching any action series done by J.C. Staff. They should just stick to romance series...

JC Staff is not a bad studio. If anything, I think Gonzo and probably Pierrot are even worse. I think they've now gone into an average state almost on par with both Gonzo, Pierrot or some other crappy anime studio for a couple of reasons.

I have not seen Food Wars, OPM 2 or the new Konosuba movie yet. But the most recent JC Staff anime I've seen was Index 3. Because of how shit it was, I decided to not watch any more from the To Aru franchise.
When I watched Index 3, I noticed how awfully similar it was to another 3rd season from another similar show from the same studio, Shakugan no Shana. Not to upset the guy who made this forum, but I personally think that both the 3rd seasons of Index and Shana are on par with each other when it comes to quality for reasons I might mention when recommending each other. But that's not all. There's also the Familiar of Zero which I think is even worse than the other two shows I mentioned and I dropped it right after the first season.

So yeah, I think JC Staff nowadays does suck. But still, they're not a bad studio because they also made great shows like Toradora and Azumanga Daioh. And from what I've heard, shows like Sakurasou no Pet and Utena are also good JC Staff anime.

I like to think of J.C. Staff as a shot gun. They push out so many anime that some are bound to be good/great, and others bad/terrible, while the majority end up in a waste land of mediocrity. It's a shame since many of my favorite shows come from J.C. Staff, to the point where they were legitimately my favorite studio for a time, but it's become increasing apparant over the years that their average work is nowhere near the quality of Toradora, Golden Time, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, etc.

They could be one of the best studios out there if they focused their efforts, but they'd rather put quantity over quality most of the time.

I completely agree with this statement. These days they just make too many anime at once, so they all end up being quite mediocre.

Im glad the discourse of the thread has gone smoothly
I know not everyone or even a good amount who have posted in the thread will see this but Id like to just thank everyone so far who have posted their opinions. Its a rather small sample size but I feel its at least reflective of the general mindset of the community and insightful for my future discussions on the studio

As for my short opinion on the contents of the replies. I feel its a shame people mention that they do too many shows therefore they have low quality. Now this is just MAL scores that Im going post and of course has nothing to do with quality of the series in of itself but it helps say current perception of the general fandom
Lets just look at Winter 2012
https://myanimelist.net/anime/season/2012/winter

J.C did 6 shows all at once that season

and all in all except Kill me Baby if you don't count it they do have good scores so more people than not liked the shows they put out that season
Now sure you could argue all those 6 series/seasons are shit if you want as proof of quantity over quality but I hope you've at least watched all of them unlike myself who watched 5 of the 6

And don't worry @TheKawaiiToon I'm not upset

I really miss Kugu Rie leading my JC anime.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Something else I've noticed also, remember how in his review of Hyper Speed Grandoll, Bennett the Sage mentioned how a lot of Central Park Media licensed/dubbed anime (with some exceptions) just weren't good and how that now defunct company went for quantity over quality, or licensed a bunch of hentai? I wonder if J.C. Staff's going the same route, quantity over quality, or seeing how they've done some borderline hentai stuff like that piece of shit Sprite: Between Two Worlds/Manami and Nami, fanservice/nudity over story and characters?
