Definitely not wrong based on age.
Whether it's the correct decision or not for you and/or her comes down to a range of personal factors, but the age disparity is immaterial. People should never submit to just being a slave to their biological age or falsely imagining that your specific numerical age or even general age bracket and generation defines your interests, lifestyle, values, priorities, experience, or anything else. It definitely does not. It's a generalization and generalizations, similar to stereotypes, usually arise from some form of truth of observable trend rooted in a material circumstance, but that only means they apply to the majority or to a large group. It doesn't mean they apply to the minority in every single group which has always existed since the dawn of time and will until the end of time.
Such broad rules should never be imposed restricting relations based on age like that. The only cases where it makes justifiable practical sense is in cases of pedophilia/pre-pubescent children because any sexual relationship during this time could interfere with the healthy sexual development and maturation of a child (and then this is also compounded by intense societal stigma) and cause physical injury and harm, but it's all puritanical white noise hand-wringing when it comes to post-pubescent sexually developed humans and completely arbitrary. The typical popular and currently ascendant Anglo-American WASP Puritan/Victorian view on this is such pure and utter disposable rubbish and nonsense to me, always has been, and always will be. It's completely out of line with both history and biology and is an unscientific, ahistorical ideological experiment which probably will prove a blip on the radar of recorded human history. Those alive in the time of its hegemony should be able to look outside the collective mental prism of their own era, recognize that, and not kowtow to it.
Don't be a wind-up toy, take your diktats from biological age and allow it to inform how you choose to live your life the way some folks do, anymore than being a male or female or being of a certain race, ethnicity, or nationality/citizenship has to control and govern your life and inform all your choices, preferences, and daily lifestyle and activities. There's already more than enough people around to do that (and there always will be) and let such herd mentality/groupthink, tribalism, and artificial segregation run their entire lives like a programmed script fed to them like data into a computer.
There's already too much both ageism and age-related segregation across different societies. Within reason and accounting for each individual situation and its plethora of all possible nuances, age shouldn't have any relevance in determining the nature of people's familial relations, platonic relations, romantic relations, or sexual relations. |
