i take back that they were no good animes in 2009, i just saw the first episode of trapeze and it is awesome!!!!! If you like stuff like Kaiba, anime that is original and art is creative and fresh check out trapeze it is probably the weirdest and druggiest show of all time

Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Kimi ni Todoke. The other is a hilarious comedy and the other one is just heart-warming to watch.

I just have seen a few anime out of 2009. The best for me was One Outs, although is was partly out of 2008. I have seen some others like; Sengoku Basara, K-ON, Ristorante Paradiso, Canaan, Valkyria Chronicles and Phantom. I want to see some other shows, but I don't think they could beat One outs. Still have to finish Seiken no Blacksmith, but that is certainly not gonna beat it.
Sengoku Basara was awesome figting, Ristorante Paradiso was something different (a bit in the style of Bartender). Phantom's was awesome till episode 21 or so, then it get less cool. The others were decent, altough Canaan was nothing more to me then nice art and a crazy cab driver.

Hmm probably nothing is worth mentioning beside Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Also I'm counting on Macross F movie. Other than that there were couple of just okay series (like Keion, Clannad, FMA, Nyan koi), some mediocre and lots of, lots of crap (e.g. Akikan, Asu no Yoichi, Asura, Caanan, Element Hunters, Eden, Kurokami, Boobsmith, Tatakau Shisho, Yokuwakaru and... yeah that's a lot) . And some I really, badly want to forget like toradora, so-called Spice and Wolf II and DTB 2. This year left me in despair...
