| I hate in Eureka 7 how they pronounce Eureka's name like Errr-eka. (In the dub anyway, I haven't seen the Japanese, but maybe the dub felt the need to copy the mispronounciation from the Japanese version?) It sounds so weird! Why name her Eureka if you're not going to pronounce it like the word is supposed to sound, why not just name her Erica? *frustration* having said that I am really enjoying the show :) Also I think it's really funny how in Code Geass, for a major female character who was supposed to be half-Japanese half-European descent, the creators actually went to the trouble to choose a name (Karen) that could be either Japanese or Western, and then the english translators didn't even translate the name as Karen, they translated it as Kallen. What?? Having said that I did see the dub first and didn't figure this out until I saw some episodes in Japanese, so she will always be (awesome) "Kallen" to me :) But I still think it's funny. Lelouch on the other hand has my favorite name of any anime character. But why are there so many characters named "Zero" in anime? Do the Japanese have some kind of fixation on that number? Or do they just think it sounds cool? |
