So, I've been thinking a lot lately about age and what comes along with it. I was wondering at what age do most people just want to quit getting older?

I think usually at the age of 19, people begin to feel the pangs of getting older.

Probably between 20 and 25, since that's about the time when you've matured enough to get a good idea about the kind of person you are, and it's also the point where your body has finished developing, no?

Unrelated I adore your icon.

On topic, probably mid 20's or so. Bodys at its prime, got a basic concept of life, etc.

I suppose that you are right. Everyone that I talk to about this irl always say much older but I already dread the next birthday. Ha, it's ironic that everyone that has posted is younger than me.

Not really. :)

To be honest, I've discussed this topic with a friend of mine who just turned 25 the other week. He was saying that 25 is the exact age most people realize they're getting older and stuff, and I disagreed saying I haven't realized that yet and never intend to (which is true). :)

I'll agree with the person who said 20-25. I've just learned to deal with getting older because you can't stop it. I'm 24 btw

EDIT: I think it would be probably 25-30. Actually I think 20-24 is still pretty young to be complaining about age.

After that age is when you really have to get serious and think about settling down and what not. Long term job, possible significant other, kids and such.

I'd hate to think what my cousin is thinking right now. He works at a AT&T store, is 31 years old, living with his friend and his friend's wife and still single. He's just lucky that he looks amazingly young and is really good looking.(No homo) Most people think he is 25. I'm just curious why though he hasn't found a girl to settle with. Great personality and looks something has to be up! That's just me rambling about my family though..

I think that I began to realize I was getting older was when I started checking people's ages to make sure I wasn't talking to a teenager, lol. I need to be as positive as you are about it.

I think it seems the older you actually do get it's harder to find a relationship, it's just another downfall.

Nahaha, I'm 21 and I feel the same way. But not because of anything physical, but because there are certain things I need to start doing and things I should of already done at this point in my life. I'm a pretty useless guy, so I'm starting to feel some pressure to get on with it lol.

Ah, I see what you mean. I guess I somehow overlooked that.
A lot of woman at that age already are taken or probably have a kid. Either got to get lucky and find someone single soon, have to be willing to take in a child that's not his, or aim for younger girls in their 20s.

Aw man that's got to be tough. Now I feel like I got to go hunting for a girl now too! lol

I think you would be surprised how many girls in their early 20's have children, but I think you be mistaken to let that affect how you looked at someone. I do think it goes both ways though most men are also taken by that age and as you get older some people lose confidence. Ha, so maybe you should go do that, lol.

Some where in the early to mid 20's. I am 24 now and this is good enough for me. In hind sight I would rather stop getting older at about 12. Life was good and easy back then. No worries at all.

I'm 21 and I wanted to stop at age 17-18 even though drinking age is 19 it's almost not worth getting older just so you can get into a bar/club, I mean it's fun but only once in awhile not worth your youth, I had a problem wise people always told me don't rush to get older, and I never did but now my problem is I hate the thought of getting older so it starts to weigh me down. Plus with age means more problems, bills, getting out on your own, figuring out school after school, wrinkles, when are you going to find someone and settle down, payments, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!

All this is my opinion though others feel differently and I completely understand this is just my nighttime babble feel like talking message me on my profile!

By the age of 14, I wanted to grow so soon. Now that I'm 19, I want to go back. Nineteen isn't too old but I focused on my responsibilities and what adults are supposed to do so yep. Biggest mistake ever.

I am 50, and I decided when I was 49 that I was fed up with my demographic and thus decided to hell with them I am 19 till I say otherwise.

Too many people think there is some sort of magic benefit to being considered 'mature', but considering how I have seen several stages of life now, infant, child, teen, young adult, 30s, middle age and now the thresshold of senior, I can tell you, the second you give up on being a kid, you've lost the only good thing life has to offer you.

Hey your body will continue to develope regardless of your consent, some things will occur whether you like it or not. You will in time experience the slowing down part and you will miss the performance level of your teens. If you don't do a lot to avoid it, you will end up slow, ugly and more or less flabby and round at the middle. Men tend to end up bald a lot. Women are no longer 'firm' where that is a bonus.

I miss being able to game all night, and I miss being able to perform sexually a dozen times a day with no effort. But I really appreciate the value of 50 years of wisdom, which no college can give you for any price. An average 50 year old will likely know every bit as much as a professor in his 20s regardless of his degrees. B ut not all knowledge will be of use on a resume.

I think I was my best when I was about 27. I was past the inexperience of my teens, and I had already escaped the first part of the 20s when you are struggling to discover who and what you want to do for the rest of your life. That, and if you don't know anything about relationships by 27, you will never get it at all :)
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.

The optimal age is your current age minus 5 years. ;-)
I'm one of the older people here. The years haven't been too bad to me, but if I could pick and choose I'd take my body from when I was late 20's, mental energy from my late teens, and my overall personality from right now.

Well, maybe one day people will be able to implant their brain into a vat-grown body, so then they wouldn't have to worry about age.

I don't get how people gets the habit of drinking frequently. Well I tried few glasses before on an occasion (in which they forced me to lol) and Idk it tastes so bad and all. Why would anybody want to drink this and complain on hang-overs by morning.

Most people don't drink alcoholic beverages because of their taste, and most who do only do that as an acquired taste.

Not all alcoholic beverages are created equal. I don't know anyone that would willingly order every single drink/mix any given bar has to offer. But at any rate, yeah, there's no fun to be had in drinking frequently.

after you make it through puberty, you begin to die. literally. theres a line when your body stops growing - and begins to decline. you literally hit the top and then your body starts to age.

I'm 29 now, but I feel like life is over and nothing I do matters. I don't know what to do for the remainder of my existence. I've accomplished all of my goals and more (personal, academic and financial), and now it just feels like I'm coasting. Maybe I'll turn into a drunk. Maybe I'll go fishing in obscure solitude up by the lake and mountains. Maybe I'll risk traveling to a foreign country to see what they have in store for me. All I know is, I've lost interest in nearly everything. I still feel like a 23 year old, but my thought process is further ahead and I just want to forget about age altogether and just say, "how old do you think I am?" and whatever reply I get, I say "then that's how old I am."

It probably depends from person to person. Some say 30, some 40...oh well, I never put much thought into this topic.

This is more or less true.

My decline is next year. At the age of 25. 'Cause that's when you reach your natural plateau of growth. It can be affected by alcohol and smoking. You're more likely to get injured and it's harder to lose weight.

This obviously depends on the person, some ppl just have better genes. but I believe I'll be really healthy and at the peek of my game till around 35. (Since I'm sporty and I don't eat junk)

You won't. Like I said on another thread, when I turned twenty, I actually turned twenteen. Mentally and physically I don't think I've changed since I was about roughly 20/21. I probably won't notice any differences until I hit twenty-five, maybe. Then I'll wish I'd stayed frozen at twenty.

Dunno I'm only 17 yet I want to stop growing already.
The right to drink?
Bullshit I don't care about it.
The right to smoke?
Why would I wanna die faster, just to look cooler? that's not me

As for how you'll look that's just on the outside, isn't what's on the inside more important?

Sincerely it's how old you feel not how old you look, your responsabilities etc....

Now as everyone said already I have a lot of friends older than me and they started feeling "old" at around 25, but that's not true for everyone.
