Great episode, this is what i have been waiting for the whole season, cause it wouldn't explain why everyone that read it has praised it to high heavens.
I still expected a better explanation and a real WHOA moment, which didn't come, but im guessing (hoping) everything will be explained in the second season.

from episode 8 to 13 it was actually a top tier almost flawless adaptation, even tho we didnt see much of the tarot club and their activities because of the anime format, we could relate to the characters and their feelings and sorrow, my godness what a ending

It was alright, tbh the ending felt more emotional in the novel.. they removed the part were leonard hit his fist to the ground really hard after seeing dunn and klein

Either way, it's a 7/10 adaptation of Volume 1. I cant wait for season 2, 30 episodes.. πŸ‘€

I suggest reading the novel after this from the start, there wont be any regret.. this novel is one of the best things ive ever read

the best episode of this year. I watched it 2 times consecutively, man I was literally crying. captain Dunn smith's death was very painful but the most painful scene was Klein's meeting with his dear loving siblings, his brother, Benson and sister, Melissa for the very last time and the smile he gave them at the end as a clown. "IT WAS A HAPPY SMILE, AN EXAGGERATED SMILE, A RIDICULOUS SMILE."

no, gray fog. his consciousness was connected to gray fog by which his spirit didn't dispitate and got healed . and by the connection of spirit and body gray fog also healed his body. of course there is a reason behind his body getting healed which would be a spoiler if I tell. the healing has restrictions and the number of time he could do this is also limited . in season 2 it will be hinted the reason behind this indirectly. let's see if you can catch it. in first 5 episodes, on completely different topic.

@fanaticrat never cried once during volume 1 and the donghua adaptation was almost flawless for the ending (it didnt feature leonard crying tho)
Ince zangwill reveal and 0-08's puppet show and dunns "we saved tingen" were absolutely amazing
I think the flower scene could have had a better exaggerated and ridiculous "smile" but it was still amazing (in terms of visuals and soundtrack)

Legit latter half of the season (especially 6 and 9-13) made this adaptation go from a 7/10 to a 9/10 (this is still preference tho)
Not worried about all the cut content because they said they will adapt it in season 2

Well, that was at least a very good and competent ending to the season. Unfortunately I think I’m better off reading the novels at this point (if I ever get to that one day).
Sure I’ll continuing checking out future seasons, but it’ll be out of the obligations of a completionist and I don’t think my overall stance with this “adaptation” will improve significantly, even then.

All the power to the claimed majority that did enjoy this, with that being said.

@Ryuseishun Supposed? Its excellent ratings, with an approval rating of over 90%, aren't just supposed; they're massive. As an adaptation, the anime performs very well, beyond skipping content that has already been hinted at and will be adapted in the second season, which will have 30 chapters. We'll see. Novels as good as these make the reader's imagination soar, and in that respect, no adaptation will ever live up to its literary work, which in fact it does. The original writing format will always be superior. In audiovisual form, it will have to adapt to certain television "standards," but here there's very good direction, OST, and animation to go with it. Could it be better? Yes, but based on how they've planned it, it's turned out well. Still, to each their own.

Proper finale to a properly directed and animated show. But I'll have to rewatch. Chinese is simply too fast for me. Luckily dub is good, so I'll give it a shot. There are bunch of nuances that I have surely missed simply by trying to process all the writing.

@Skullwild thanks for the heads up. I won't mind it as much since it's a tribute it seems and not a recreation like we had few seasons ago where ms. Hudson was a busty redhead jerking off to Sherlock. Way to ruin the canon works.

@RaiseYourChicken I don't know about others but the first episodes hooked me immediately with its unique vibe/permise and I feel it is natural to be confusing when you are transmigrated into unknown and mysterious world with partial knowledge of it. So 10/10 for me.

it had fantastic visuals an the actions scenes are fantastic an well coreographed but the story is just interesting enough to keep one entertained, it does have a slow start an it relies a bit much on lore early on but it gets much better on its second half, the cast of characters is fine but no one stands out for the most part

What an amazing end that was ! Mind-blown !
LOTM season 1 was so fine from the start right till the end. Peak animation, story telling , music, characters.
The thing that broke me was Klein having to say goodbye to Melissa.
Melissa and Benson already lost their original brother Klein but still 'cause of Zhou they were able to have some more precious time with Klein only to be taken away from them in the end..πŸ’”πŸ’”
Dunn standing tall and strong with his heart in his hand feeling proud for saving Tingen from doom..
🫑🫑πŸ₯Ίβ€οΈ‍πŸ”₯
Ince's got something big coming for him in the form of Sherlock Moriarty.
Can't wait for season 2

Anyone else feel like there a nauseating amount of camera panning? the art style was amazing no doubt but holy fuck the cinematics were starting to get sort of disorienting by the end of it.

As someone who only watched the donghua, I’m so glad I didn’t drop this series. Honestly, it turned out to be one of the most unique and captivating shows I’ve seen, possibly the best of 2025 in terms of peak storytelling (6-13 Actually Good). It left such an impression that I can’t wait for Season 2, so I’ve decided to start reading the novel right away

The 1st Volume (this 1st season) ends at chapter 213
Ch210 is the Quill 0-08 talking part (the chapter is titled "Story")
Ch213 is titled "Another Look" it ends with the Clown handing over the bouquet of yellow flowers symbolizing 'Happiness' to Melissa & Benson

it ends with: The clown brought the flower before Melissa and Benson. The flower was golden in color and symbolized happiness.

Melissa and Benson looked at the clown in a daze. All they saw was a wide smile plastered over the pastel face. It was a happy smile, an exaggerated smile, a ridiculous smile.

(End of the First Volume)

That being said, I still really recommend starting from the very beginning if you can afford it, or at least way early on in the early chapters
So many details and Klein's inner thoughts , and character fleshing out had been left out
+ foreshadows of things that will come in handy much much later in the best way possible!

you can read it up to ch100-ich for free on the official publisher website called "Webnovel"
or you can read elsewhere as in Epub, Pdf, or other websites of you are broke like most of us, on websites such as NovelFire, Novelight, Ranobes and such
