So thieves are apparently a problem in this show and there are missions offered to deal with them. The one from this episode had a large bounty.

Also got to see how well Noel and Alma work together as partners. It's an interesting take on how missions are handled by the duo although not much has really change yet about their relationship.

Zero hesitation in ruining an entire family for the sins of the parents, Noel sure is merciless when it comes to betrayal.

Alma's backstory is a dark one, the prologue to her current story I found quite compelling, spent all her early life surviving and killing to be best but ended up without purpose, until she met Noel. Really interested to see where their relationship will go.

Really love how dark this episode was. Could tell that the wine was poison for the same reason that was mentioned. How was some poor village going to be giving out wine to people? Suspicious. Love that Noel punishes betrayal so extremely.

Noel and Alma get along great. Cant wait for next episode.

The best part of this series is how Noel gives people exactly what they deserve. If you’re good and loyal to him he’ll take care of you, if you try and double cross him or cheat him you’re going to get what you got coming 🤷🏾‍♂️ don’t feel bad for the mayor at all.

He could’ve just been honest about not having the money or being down bad and I’m sure Noel would’ve helped out or charged a much lower fee. Instead you lie on not one, not two, but three separate occasions and try to kill him with some cowardly shit? An eye for an eye is fair. I do regret the daughter having to see it, but I mean she should know her dad a piece of shit and hopefully as she get older she’ll understand what Noel did

Love the Alma focus as well in this one, she’s so badass her combat ability is really fun to watch. But after learning her backstory I’m not even mad about her enjoying the thrill of the kill. Mom is a rape victim, she and her siblings turned into child soldiers and forced to kill each other for supremacy, trained to be the ultimate weapon and then after 21 years you say you don’t need her anymore? It’s like, she couldn’t have friends, siblings, romance and now you’re taking away the only purpose she had. It’s no wonder she’s latched onto Noel so hard. Can’t wait to see more of their relationship developing and their quest to join the regalia.

I don't get the hate the show is getting for no reason ... it's really nice, the characters are fun they have interesting backstories, the world set up is good enough and makes sense so far, the animation is weak but not terrible they maintain 2D throughout and when it matters it does look decent enough just feels a little older, the roughness of how a society like this would run in a real life scenario is great and they don't care about showing everything. I might go and read the manga after the show is over tbh

Noel is absolutely brutal. Has nothing on his mind besides money and power. Takes a 500,000 fil job and extorts the village chief for 820,000 fil because the chief attempted to poison them. On top of the 820,000 fil he probably will cash out the bounty of 2,000,000 fil making a total of 2,820,000 fil.

He didn't extort anyone. They backstabbed them and then tried to kill them. You reap what you sow. The mayor knew exactly what he was doing and was only sorry he was caught. The daughter needs to get her shit together if she expects to get ahead in life. You can't blame the seekers for the situation your parents caused, that's just idiotic. Noel and Alma did nothing wrong. They were hired for a job and completed it even though they were constantly lied to and put in more danger than they expected. Noel has a goal and will not let anything get in his way, there's nothing wrong with that.

Eh, gonna drop this, I think.

I can respect a person who is hard in order to get by in a crapsack world.

But Noel crosses the line from hard into nasty, which I don't find respectable, or entertaining, in the slightest.

I had hope that this would be recover-from-betrayal story, but instead it seems be a weekly party-gets-betrayed story. And the latter doesn't interest me.

And Noel responded by trying to kill him in return. I don't find it unreasonable at all that she continued the revenge circle-jerk.

That's the thing about revenge plots... they're always pointless and dumb when you look at them from an outside perspective. It's only when you look from a participant's point-of-view that they make any kind of sense.

I don't like Noel all that much, but I can't fault him for his action. Even though I also don't take it kindly when someone betrayed me, but personally I'd let the father off a bit easy because of his daughter by not accepting the money she offered.

That's right, the head bandit guy had a bounty on his head for the 2,000,000 fil, good observation and hopefully Noel cashes that in so that he can have enough money for his new group (I'm assuming he'll need money to pay them and/or for supplies).

I'm liking how Noel deals with adversity despite his somewhat feminine appearance, in fact that kind of makes him more badass in a way lol. Regarding Alma, she's pretty cool too but with the outfit she's wearing how can a guy not look at her although she also had a point with the dad ogling her in front of his wife and daughter.

technically Noel got over 1 million out of the mayor since he was paid 200,000 up front and then got the 820,000 so if the head counts towards the bounty he will have gained 6x his original 500,000 for this Quest

I don't think he would have helped out imo. Noel seems pretty straightforward and if the village chief wasn't gonna pay him the stated amount it prob wouldn't be taken too kindly.

Something along the line of "why should that be my problem?" *Insert eye gouging here*

Something about these darker shows is kinda, idk, intoxicating? I can't stop watching.

Ah yes the good old obligatory comedy scene of waking up to a naked girl.
They made short work of those bandit, those talker skills really work well with Alma.
Unfortunately that family didn't count on Noel being so smart, he saw right threw them.
Feel sorry for Chelsea, he parents screwed up big time.
Interesting hearing about Alma's true back story.
Looking forward to seeing if they can become a regalia.

Quite interesting. I understand why Noel would want revenge on his father, but his behavior doomed an innocent girl to a fate possibly worse than death. That doesn’t make it bad for the story, though. I hope his character is explored further and that he develops together with Alma

This is a very promising anime that is being forgotten because it has mediocre animation

Uhh, no, her dad's stupidity doomed her. Dad:

1) got into debt with the mafia.

2) lied to Noel, the person who had come when no one else would AND who had helped that town in the past, multiple times.

3) actually HAD the money to pay them, but

4) straight up tried to murder Noel and Alma after they'd done the job that saved his entire village.

Dude got off *light*.

Chelsea turning on the man she'd spent the episode glazing is very teenage girl behavior, but her dad is an idiot AND a scumbag. Hopefully she learns this lesson without having to get pimped out to pay dear old dad's debt.

@MaouHero I wouldn't be surprised if she's sold as a slave to pay her family's debt. It's a surprisingly dark moment left in ambiguity, but it makes sense for a world like this where people largely deceive and use each other for their own interests. Having been brought up in this world, Noel showing that he has a heart in moments like these where he has to act cruel for the sake of moving forward is really impactful. If she ever reappears in the future as an adversary, it would be interesting to see how Noel would take it.

What Alma did is what I'm afraid of doing if I opt to sleep in bed rather floor.

<3, the leader of the society seems like a decent guy. He doesn't want [senseless] blood-lust anymore and sent her to someone that may benefit her future.

So they got 3 mill from this instead of planned 0.5 mill (200K advance, 2m head, 820K girls savings) that's really cool since she can do an effective 6x accel with her 5x accel thanks to Noel and they got slightly over 6x the money here.

This anime seems to be all about people putting up a facade and actually being vile, also people having a really bad gambling or debt problem. That girl really fucked up, she should have let her dad die (and maybe mom too) and asked Noel for help. She says she hates seekers, but seekers aren't the reason she's fucked.
These bad characters really tick me off. All 5 we got so far (2 of his past mates, the family of 3). The mom is complicit and the girl is fucked too, if I saw my parents about to kill people who saved us, and then they killed my parents, I would have zero ill-will against them. Good riddance.

While I agree with the first part that Noel might have been a little more cooperative with honestly (hell, he took this job not expecting good pay and wanting to help people), I disagree with the 2nd part. If she simply let it happen, I would have been sad she saw it, but instead she saved him and blamed the victims. Also there is no way that whole family, or at a minimum the daughter because slavery, is screwed. All she had to do was let her dad die and then whatever for mom.
