I've been curious why when I read some reviews people talk so bad about a specific anime yet complete it all. Anyone know?

most probably they're too lazy to change it to dropped or get the numbers in the completed list go up
Attack on titan ended on chapter 131 no one can tell me otherwise

There's some strange attraction for those series so bad that you can't help but keep watching, to see how much more terrible it can get. Like this series that we recently reviewed...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5if1CHkPspo

... it's a train wreck but when it comes to train wrecks, it's amongst the best lol

Also, a bad show has lots of talking points but a good show just makes me feel great and offer nothing to criticize

If you're having crippling depression, hopefully our videos will send you to another world and have you reborn as an isekai protagonist

Some people just don't like dropping shows. Personally I don't want to drop shows that are only 1 cour long. It could also the completionists curse.

Why do people keep asking this inane and stupid question?

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Because it's interesting to see how bad it will be in the end especially when we are talking about some highly rated crap.

Completionism for me. I don't like to drop stuff. I've only dropped one show so far.

Some people are masochists and enjoy suffering through bad shows, and other shows can become a 2 if they crash and burn at the finish line.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Or to give a properly rating. That was my case with Your Lie in April. I force myself to watch it until the end to give a perfect, solid and satisfying 1.

It depends on which parts of the show made it bad. You're only thinking that the first few episodes should be enough to indicate that a show is bad, but sometimes it goes downhill midway or towards the end.

Completionism is a thing too. Some just want to finish the entire thing and then judge it for what it is.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

For me it's completionism combined with a weird obsession with trainwrecks.

The only anime that I have completed and I gave him 1 was angel beats, I saw it with my brother (he had already seen it) and he told me that the end was sad or I don't know what would happen at the end. obviously that also disappointed me, and the anime didn't give me anything really good to give it a higher score, so I gave it 1.

It's really not that complicated:

1. Certain anime catches your interest.

2. Therefor you are willing to watch certain anime (duh).

3. If the first 3 episodes aren't drop-worthy but nothing special either, you are willing to let it develope and see how it turns out, because in your eyes it still has potential.

4. After completing the whole thing you now have the full picture in front of you and realize that they wasted the whole potential this anime initially had (and in Tow Ubukatas case even murked the living hell outta a whole franchise). But you can't know that before completion.

a 1 scoring is reserved for truly rancid shows that have no redeemable qualities including your own enjoyment.

it confuses me when people never give out a 10, but will easily give out 1s. Like you'll set your lowest standard, but not your highest.

What are you saying doesn't have any sense lol XD if you put an 1 or 2 or whatever it's just because is your opinion. So, do I have to put an 1 or 2 to a series and dropped it? I can at least finish it and having better reasons to think why it is that bad, because I finished it

Because some people just completed the anime and thinks that it is shit, which is why you have some peeps who complete an anime and give it a 1-2. I have my fair share of examples.

Sometimes it's enjoyable but you're able to recognize that it's really bad.

Or if you changed your rating on a show that you watched a long time ago and came to realize it's not as good as you remember.

When people watch animes that are not liking it could be because they hope it will get better, no dropped anime rule, masochists, completionists, or they just dont like to drop something, for me its no drop anime rule, it feels like a waste of time drop an anime so I just finish it

At first, I never liked dropping an anime, wanted to finish them all, but yeah, now if I'm 2-3 episodes and it's really bad I just drop it. Such a waste of time.

I am guilty of this for two reasons:

1. Most of the time, I am already more than 3/4th of the way through a show when I realize the show is shit. So I don't want to just give up on it. Might as well see how it ends right? And I don't want my conscience telling me you wasted your time watching this show when you could have been doing something else. Also the shorter a series, the more likely I am going to finish it (if I enjoyed it or not).

2. If the series is well renowned to be good or very niche, I want to complete it so I can say: yeah I watched; I didn't like it but I did see. So I can properly form an opinion on it.
"Bro, if you set your mind to it. You can jack off to anything."

Some people like to rate based on completion to give a fair assessment of an anime. I'm not one of those types. I don't see the point in watching an anime until completion if I don't like it and it still disappoints me in the end. It feels like a wasted investment in time when I can watch something that I actually might enjoy. I'm also someone who doesn't take reviewing or rating an anime seriously. I just rate based off enjoyment

I don't like leaving stuff half done, makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy. I also don't feel like I'm entitled to have an opinion or something if I haven't experienced it in its entirety. For example, going to a restaurant, ordering something, not liking it and leaving to never come back again. Of course there's a huge difference between a dish you disliked and one that made you puke, but I rarely ever see stuff that I'd actually rate a 1 or 2 out of 10. I just don't watch stuff I think I'll dislike or that look sketchy. A lot of time it is a matter of just enjoying the train wreck, the "so bad its funny" kind of thing.

I'll be honest, the only reason I finished Pop Team Epic was so I could confidently say it's the worst anime ever made and not have anyone be able to tell me that I "didn't give it a fair chance" or something like that, lol

Only reason I completed Beyond the Boundary was because a friend recommended it

Weird question. How am I supposed to know whether I'll truly hate it or not until the very end? Am I some kind of a prophet? That's why even after dropping Fairy Tail and One Piece, I quickly skimmed through all the episodes available, just to see if something can suddenly change my mind. I give "2" not because everything is 100% constantly bad, but because it's getting on my nerves too much to forgive, to the point of hatred and not caring if there is anything good in it, and the reason for that is different for every anime. And some people, maybe, watch stuff just to write reviews, who knows.

Because having tons of drops looks bad (ignore my manga list) but yeah. It can be a good way to build your anime knowledge and solidify what you truly like and dislike by watching stuff you don't like and also if it's only like 12 episodes, I might as well just finish it right?

People above me have mentioned reasons that make sense. I personally tend to only give low ratings to anime I dropped. When I already feel like I dislike or lost interest in a show, I just dropped it. That's why I have like 130+ dropped anime

I think they didn't finish the show, example: the show has 12 eps. then they decided to drop it, but they already watched like 8 eps. so they just put it on completed instead of dropped, 'cause they feel like they just wasted their time or they want to add more on their completed list. ¯\_(ใƒ„)_/¯

I have 12 completed anime with a 1 rating and 22 completed anime with a 2 rating. I looked at my list and all the 1 rated ones are from my completionist phase. The 2 rated ones are a mix of my completionist phase and because I keep joining the seasonal anime challenges on A-P and thus I end up torturing myself because I want to finish the minimum of 8 which means I end up watching at least 1 f-ing TERRIBLE piece of rancid garbage every season because of it.
