Shounen (especially battle shounen) is love, shounen is life, it has always been my preferred genre in anime since they day I got into this medium. Also you made clearly an over-generalized statement implying that I only watch shounen which is evidently wrong. I have watched a good no. of anime from several other genre that aren't labelled as shounen as well and still do watch them, plus I liked quite some of those non-shounen anime as well, they mostly just aren't my biggest favourites, that's all. Though there still are a few anime in my top 20 favourites which doesn't belong to the shounen category, like Code Geass, Fate series, Vinland Saga, Yona Of The Dawn, Psycho-Pass, etc, so it's not like I don't have any top favourites outside of battle shounen, which it seemed like you were trying to insist. |

Most of my top favourites being amongst the battle-shounen type show that, but there's actually a lot more to it than that, since there are a fairly good number of anime outside of the battle-shounen type that I like as well. Yes, most of those anime aren't my top favourites like the battle-shounen ones, but still I do like those anime as well, which would show that I do indeed like several stuff other battle-shounen as well, which my Top favourites mostly don't reflect. Like say, I still do like anime like Baccano!, KonoSuba, Madoka, 5-Toubun, Barakamon which most definitely don't fall into the battle-shounen type. Alongside that, even in my Top favourites, there are a few anime like Code Geass, Fate/Zero, Vinland Saga, Death Note, Psycho-Pass, most of which are quite mature-themed anime and significantly different compared to battle-shounen. So yeah, while it's obviously true that I do have a big inclination towards battle-shounen type, there actually a lot more to it than the plain statement many people make that I appreciate only hype battle-shounen and my tastes only lie there. |

Well, it's pretty obvious you were sarcastic. ;) Since Shōnen's just a mere label and not a genre, it does indeed cover almost anything. The only way to categorize works into demographics are the publishing magazines. Saying "I like Shōnen" is the same as "I love ice cream", without mentioning the flavor. Anyway, sorry for my "tangent". OT: Dropping Death Note so early before its decline, while at the same time being patient with the melodramatical, "sad" Haibane Renmei ripoff called Angel Beats by a guy who can't write even when his life depended on it, is a true pity. :( |
