It is still appreciated there but there are many complaints by fans who desired more from it but got a bit disappointed. |

One piece is a big franchise and there are a lot of fans in Japan that are willing to watch it no matter what the review says. Its just like supporting one of their favorite franchise. |

You can find plenty of people, both in Japan and in France, who saw the movie and enjoyed it. This includes both individuals who were already fans of One Piece and those who weren't (or who had dropped off at some point in time). If the majority of people hated the movie after watching it, then the initial box office numbers would be pretty good for only the first few days. Word of mouth would spread. In this case, that's not really the situation at hand and records are being broken. Results still trend a little divisive yet fundamentally positive. It is, however, a different type of project from the normal One Piece film template and that is why not everyone will appreciate such an approach. My conclusion is that's fine, different people will enjoy different things. |
