We chat, not spam or debate.
Wait, we can't debate here? But sometimes casual chatting turns into a serious discussion, that can't be helped.
Don't be pedantic, it's more about keeping out the Spam.

I heard that.

How can it be casual if we have rules? Just out of curiosity. I don't remember having limits on chatting in real life, so why make it different on the internet? Just a thought.

stupid threads should be closed/deleted. no need to ruin the fun in good threads though by restricting them like crazy.

Spam doesn't exist anymore. There's no restrictions on it.

Casual Chat is part of a reform to try to remove some of the retardation from MAL. It now adheres to the global rules and there are no specific exceptions or laxities here. People can chat and talk about inane stuff, but we're not tolerating the spam. It's going to be hard to adjust for the old timers but it is going to be enforced.

The poor server hamster just can't take the overload. He needs to rest once in a while and the occasional twig has to be removed from the hamster wheel.

Never hurts to go over the rules. If there's a major change to the rules, there'll be an announcement, and I'll link it here.

A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.

Okay, while that quote kinda makes sense here, it kinda doesn't....what with how Spam and Casual Chat are different now...but whenever I say Spam, I'm referring to Casual Chat still. Silly Asako ^.^
Hmm. That's going to be hard to tell the difference between Spam and inane stuff. Usually inane stuff in Spam...
These rules are gonna be hard to follow...

By new rules do you mean the sticky Asako threw there, or have the General Forum Guidelines been changed as well?

Well inane stuff is just where conversations generally lead to rather than a thread that starts with inane stuff and can only be replied with equally stupid crap.

As always, if the reply adds something beyond a lol or an "I agree", the bump is perfectly fine.

9. If a topic is more than a month old, please consider whether it is wise to post in that thread. If you do decide to bump it with a new post, you better be adding something meaningful - basically anything better than "wow that's so cool!"

This. However, we might be doing something about people who bump News Threads that are 2 years old.

Posting nothing but an image is considered a nonsensical, worthless post and will be deleted, yes. You can use a macro image to highlight a point as long as you write something (significant and on topic) to go with it.

This says it's frowned upon, but does that necessarily mean it's against the rules?

And can you boot up a conversation with something that's random and off-topic to the last topic? Like if there's a massive '2 hours ago' gap between posts.

Having only one chat thread defeats the purpose of naming the board 'Casual Chat.'

I agree with Lyme in that there should be a forum game board then.

Good.
Cos I'm as confused as hell right now.

What I still don't get is why Kimmy made this one to merge all Chat threads together instead of leaving GSTS as it is and making that one the merged thread. It wouldn't matter if non-GSTS people didn't like it, because apparently everybody has to get along together here anyway...
