OVA is between the first and second season. Hope this helps. Both season follows the manga. The manga has a lot of volumes and a third season should come out eventually. |

Nope, the first episode probably would do a recap what happened in the first season like most sequels. Rest will be manga based. I thought the second season follows the whole 52 of the first season since it is related to the manga o.o |

Anyway to ACTUALLY ANSWER THE QUESTION, yeah, season 2 totally disregards everything that happens in the second half of season 1, restarting a bit after Hayate enters Nagi's school, though after all the character introductions. There's no recap at all so they assumed you know everything up to that point. IMO, you would do well to see at least half of season 1 before jumping in to season 2 just to get a general idea of what happened. Either way, to describe both seasons, I'd say season 1 was just random comedy while season 2 is a bit more traditional with a mix of random and romantic comedy. |
