If they're going to completely disregard the original cast of characters for an entirely new set, they had better do a good fucking job with the development this time.

That's completely stupid in my opinion; why would they continue a concept with a fresh rollcall of faces where they failed to actually go anywhere to begin with? What's the point of that?

If there's a bigger picture to all of this, they had better remember to stick to it this time. There are a lot of unanswered questions related to this universe and no amount of Operation High Tensions can distract me from wanting answers.
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

if you saw the 3 minute episode titled "Another Epilogue" they can do another season but i dont think that is their intention as its just an Alternative route to the ending of Angel Beats TV series hence the word "Another" in the title of it

but ye lets see if they will make a second season with new characters

A new season with new characters would not be any fun at all. They should have an OVA of what happens when Otonashi and Kanade meet in their next life though.

One of my absolute favorite animes and I am completely satisfied with its ending. Not knowing everything can really be a plus sometimes.

Another epilogue did spark some interest in a s2 in my eyes though. Assuming that the s2 will be at all based off that, I eagerly await it. If not, I will still watch it since Key has never failed me before. Except for clannad, which wasn't my thing.

Season one was ok... last episodes felt like a drag
Another Season with the same cast would be to weird, even if they do like everyone is alive but they don't know each other on RL.
The additional ending with another epilogue just made things worst for me. He wasn't able to move on. He could have followed the example of Yui and Hinata, but he decided to stay and wait for her (make sense, even if the odd are really small, when compare to the amount of time he have things are bound to happen... eventually he might even see them all)
huh?

I really would like to see a season two, but with different characters and maybe just some few returning ones making a cameo appearance.

The Another Epilogue episode to me was just a side-story; to put it in a simpler way - a "what if he stayed behind" episode.

Something worth keeping in mind... even if the soul of any of his friends come back.. they will most likely have a different appearance and memories as well (maybe their lives didn't suck that much this time around and they had a gf/bf/lover/concubine/consort/w.e u want to call it). If that is the case it would just make a very sad story as he might not recognize them as just treat them as any other soul... or even worst, he realizes that they are them but there is no way they remember who the hell is that crazy guy chasing them around.

So here are some other random thoughts:
- Regarding Kanade, worst case scenario she will come back as a dude and he realize it is her...* giggles*
- Creepiest scenario, he goes bunkers and start treating everyone as a possible ex-member of the Afterlife Battlefront and tries to make them cosplay as his old friends...

I would also like to watch a second season to see what they come up with. The show was enjoyable, even if the ending took forever.
huh?

Its ok having a second season but with new characters, maybe they could do a second season but a prequel to the first angel beatz story. like a story of how the angel players or was that angel system created. something like that. then after that they can do a 3 or 2 episode OVA showing how the characters both season 1 and 2 are doing in the real world how they were reincarnated or something like that.

A second season would be great if it had new characters in it and a new story, they can do a maybe prequel storyline to the first angel beatz, maybe showing how it all started and how the angel players and angel system was made a storyline about the first players who went against the will of god. and after that maybe a 2 or 3 episode OVA where they tell us what happened to the rest of the characters, like showing their new persona/reincarnation in the real world.

sorry if its a repost, my first reply won't show.

Having just watched it, I would be very much interested in a second season. Even though a lot of the promise of the first season will have already been spent, with more time they could rectify a lot of what made the experience ultimately unsatisfying for me as a viewer, despite wanting to like the series very badly.

I would not want a second season.
Why is that?
Because what I just saw was such a near-perfect thing I don't want a second season to compare it to. I feel the story meant to be told was finished and everything we wanted to see - we already did.
And frankly I can't imagine how would that work - if anything they might do a different setting with loose relations to the parent story but then - it would be just a different anime altoghether.

It was really satysfiny to watch (the fact that I gotta wash my face 'cuz it's all wet from tears strenghtens the fact) and even though I'm sad it finished, at the same time I am happy this is the ending I got to see.

Why do so many people act like season two is confirmed? XD Especially on Youtube...

I would like a second season if they animated the gap between the novel and the anime, or maybe even from the beginning of the novel until where the anime starts. It'd be great if they could do more with the side characters and give us a few adventures pre-Otonashi.

People who don't want a second season, what do you think of that? :P This way the ending wouldn't be ruined (though I hate the ending myself XD)

All I can say is, I'd like a small 5-episode OVA... The ending was such a cliff-hanger, I need to satisfy my thoughts on what I think will happen.

At the last episode, Otanashi hears Kanade humming a GDM tune, and goes to touch her shoulder.
Maybe after he touches her shoulder and she looks at him, she has no clue who he is... Or maybe it's the wrong person. And the new series/OVA goes on from there.

That, or maybe Otonashi will find links to all his partners, and learn they all live in the same town or are closer then he thinks (Small world, eh?).

There's tons of possibilites, and I really hope it's a good new season. Because really, even though it was a really confusing anime, it was REALLY good. I really hope the new season makes us happy.

I've also heard on a few forums that the new season may be a haruhi sort of deal, where there's new filler episodes to fill the gaps, or repete episodes, but they explain and show more, so we can get an understanding of the confusion.

I also liked another post I saw on here, maybe the OVA/season season will be based on Yui and her friends BEFORE Otonashi came, or even how the after-life was made, who was incharge, and how the SSS brigade came together.

There's many possibilites, and I look forward to watching the new OVA/season.

PS: There's already an OVA and sequel to the anime, which was released quite a while ago. I'll post below:

***SPOILER***

On the OVA, Otonashi is still in the after life, and he's the student council. A student in class realizes he's in the afterlife and breaks down, then Otonashi comes into the room and talks to him, soothing his emotions. He then leaves the room, and the OVA ends. (It's a 3 minute OVA episode...)

There's also another random episode added, where the SSS are doing yet another challenge from Yui... They need to build as much tension as possible, it was hilarious. I laughed a lot in this episode.

Cheers!, I hope this info can come in use to some people!

lol I agree with that, I didn't liked the ending myself too. It was too... "shallow-minded". Yeah, Shiina would probably agree with me. :')
I don't want a second season, but maybe an OVA of 3 or 4 episodes how the rest of the casts past were. Or like Devries (ben jij Nederlands soms? Je naam klinkt er zo naar...) says, how this certain after-life was made or how the SSS brigade came together.

Oh and I almost forgot something, I also DEEPLY want to know who was *this* one guy who they were talking about in episode 12, that one who made himself a NPC and such. That's one of the few things that disappointed me from this anime and one of the reasons why I gave this a 7/10, because some things were not really well explained and it was a little too fast-paced. I get everything from this anime and it was definitely not confusing for me, but the writers sometimes forget to put some thoughts in a few things, especially this guy and how the after-life was made and there are a few more things that I forgot at the moment because it's late and I'm kind of tired. (orz...) So that's why there NEEDS to be at least an OVA of Angel Beats! to explain this stuff. Would be really nice. :)
Oh and the most of the cast were a little too two-dimensional for me to rate it higher than a 7... but that has nothing to do with a second season, lulz. *facepalm*

why would we want a second season? it wouldnt have any plot at all, otonashi would just kick everyone asses out of that world -_- i liked this anime very much, but if they are going to make a second season, they would need a whole new cast of characters... or maybe to continue the story from where it left of, with all of them dying in a massive car accident and then going back to another world with the appearance they had in the first season... or mixing it with dead note and making otonashi one of the shinigamis so he can give the book to some random douche XD

in the end... i hope they do a second season with a new cast of characters

I really don't get why half of the people are rejecting a second season, I loved this anime and I think a second season would be awesome, whether it be new cast and new members or taken place in their new life showing how everyone meets up again or whether it be in the past showing all the characters past life's with more detail, either way I'm all go for a second season, I loved the music, lighting effect and story line and alot of other people did to.

So showing that the series got a positive response why not make a second season? if you other people don't want one then don't bother to watch it, 'nuff said. I'll see the rest of you in the near future when season 2 finally arrives.

This isn't needed at all. What's needed is more episodes to flesh out the show. Do a re-run with new episodes, or a remake. That would be good.

This. Kind of like Haruhi, but better. Expand on the short arcs that obviously had more room to roam. Answer more of the big questions. And SLOW THE F*** DOWN.

Or do an after story type thing with all the characters meeting up in the real world again and having a good time. :D

I would be satisfied with a second season or OVAs if they covered any of these scenarios:

1. Showing who the creator of the Angel Player program was and showing all that happened with him and why he had the one NPC guy guarding it (I sort of agree with the theory that the guy guarding it is the creator of the program. Why would he have someone else guard it? I think he wiped his memory of the parts where it was actually him that fell in love with a girl, but she left.)

2. If it covered the Heaven's Door manga/novel and went up before the anime started. That would be awesome to have the origins of the battlefront animated and show more of the backgrounds of the characters.

3. Now, I know the guy that made the series said in an interview that the Another Epilogue thing was just an alternate ending, but he could change his mind. I'd like to see it so that more people come there, and Otonashi helps them accept their lives, but in the process they make him question whether or not he should keep waiting for Kanade. I would really love it if these new character that he helped would help him leave the world. And at the very end they would have Otonashi disappear from the world. That would be perfect, in my opinion.

The one thing I could not stand would be if the second season or any future OVAs that tell about what happened to Otonashi, Kanade, or anyone else, after they disappeared. This is on of those times where I prefer it if they don't tell what happened. Sure, it would provide closure for us, but I think it would ruin one of the things I loved about this series. The part with Otonashi and Kanade after the credits was good enough for me and was a wonder ending to the series. I think the end point of the series there was perfect.

I partially agree. A whole second season telling what happened to them after they disappeared wouldn't really make much sense. I can't imagine what the plot would be. But I wouldn't mind a few OVA's of them meeting up and having a good time in the real world. I definitely think that there should be an anime adaption of Heaven's Door or a re-make of the anime series with around 20ish episodes (or both, but that's not likely). While the manga so far has given us more about some of the characters, I really hope that there's more to come in the anime department. 13 episodes isn't enough.

I prefer a prequel

As for second season... why the hell not? It'll work out somehow. I'm pretty sure they can pull it off if they wanted to.

Like Otonashi helping the new group, new group wonder what kind of person Otonashi is, and we're shown occasional flash backs from Otonashi (extra footage of season 1).

I donno, I think it could actually work. Otonashi can be the mysterious Student Council President with a past that other's wish to read, while he himself occasionally put an end to their "defying the god's" act and stuff.

This is one of the bigger plot holes in the series. But think about what Otonashi said in the last episode. His soul "wondered" into the world. His soul was probably wondering between Heaven and the place the series takes place in. He didn't know if he had regrets because he couldn't remember. His soul probably wondered for many years before ending up where he was in the first episode.

Hi everyone, first, i'm belgian, sorry if i'm not clear in what i say !

So, for this eternal question, i think it's the creator of " Angel Player " which led Otonashi in purgatory, when Yuri comes on the room with all the computer, a men explain to her 2 thing :

1 : The Shadow comes because love appears in this world

2: The " programmer " like he say, don't want the purgatory become an eternal paradise, Kanade just want to say thank you at Otonashi, but he dead without regret, so it's impossible for her.

Otonashi can't remember his life, maybe because he comes from paradise for/by Kanade.

If she have no really emotion, it's possible because she walk in the Purgatory with this eternal regret since a long time, this regret that the gnawing inside.

Apart from the need to thank Otonashi, she seems to live quietly in purgatory, this is opposite to the programmer rules, so, bring Otonashi in Purgatory can disappear Kanade.

Otonashi have no regret for his life, so, he have 2 choice :

- Accepted the disappearence of Kanade, and disappear himself, is the first end of the anime.

- Never accepted that, and stay in Purgatory in the hope of the return of Kanade, with this, he is not in peace, so for him, is not an eternal paradise, but an eternal hell, is not opposite to the programmer rule, this can be the alternate épilogue. If Kanade return one day in the Purgatory, and if she remember Otonashi ( It's clearly impossible for me, but after all, nobody know really how all the spirit reborn, we don't know how this " Purgatory " works and where he leads ! The " true " end show us Otonashi and Kanade in the street, maybe a street in an eventually " paradise ", that can explain why Otonashi recognize the GirlDeMo song ? )

Last thing, i've read on many internet site a possibility of coma, that " explain " what Kanade and Otonashi walk in the street, but no ... it's ridiculous, if they are all in coma, Angel Beats! have no sens, Otonashi can't be in coma without hearts ....

I hope I made clear, it's pretty hard to explain it in another language haha ! And sorry for the writing mistake.

A second season would not really be angel beats if it did not have Otonashi or Kinnade and seeing as how these charatcers no longer exist, i seriously doubt there will be a second series.

We need to understand is that these people we saw in "Angel Beats!" are NOT the same people they once were. this was stated by yuri herself (if i remember correctly towards the end), THAT life is over and there is NOTHING they or we can do to change it or get it back. (well maybe WE can but it wouldnt match up with the original story line!) this is one of the core messages the author was sending.

Even if Kinnade and Otonashi were to fall madly in love, they wouldn't be doing it as Kinnade and Otonashi even though they have the same soul bindings that partially judge thier personalities and what attracts them to others. It would be as two different people, familiar in thier etherial souls and possibly similar in looks but they would be different in thier lives and teachings, they could have a very different set of feelings about how things should work.

We must also remember that they may not have reincarnated in the same world they left as well as there being obvious discrepincies between the time in which it takes for a soul to find a new world and incarnate in it. Case and point, the fact that Kinnade recieved Otonashi's heart (after he died) and because of this was allowed to live for a while longer (though not long enough to expiriance highschool graduation or true love) and the fact that she has been in that world for much longer than him (by at least a month so that events could unfold for the battlefront vs. angel plot.) means he would have had to be drifting along in limbo for serveral months, maybe even a few years, lost in the cosmic steams until he found a place his soul resonated with. They could be in a different world now (at least kinnade and otonashi), or in the same world twenty years into the future.

If i had to guess, id say that many of the people who's past we saw were living in the 80's in asian countries and the time we assumably saw Kinnade's and Otonashi's reincarnation was in the time of modern cellphones (2000).

So my final conclusion is that if a second season were to come then it would be a prequel of some kind as that world needs only some backstory and explainations to become complete so that nothing else would be needed, Otherwise, it would be a completely different show in which a few of the characters joined back up by way of some cosmic fate to try and show and explore another message about life and the adventure it leads. It would be toying around with different concepts with familiar faces and feelings.
The show itself has seen it's end so i suggest you accept that and learn these lessons while applying them to life. The show has a simialar fate to our heros. the tale is over but a new one beggins, lets see what they do!
