I'm watching it and I'm hoping Sawako becomes less of a doormat at some point. She needs shoujo-heroine lessons from Miyazawa or Tsukushi.

Kind of bad for the main character pair when I'm more interested in the Yankee sidekicks than Kazehaya or Sawako.

**actually Kazehaya impressed me in episode 5 with his speech

Great intro song though! hard to sing.

I'm a guy and enjoying the series massively. I guess I felt I needed a break from nonsense shows where the female characters were mere one-dimensional adherents to a single character type (deredere, etc). As kuh above me said though, the yanki are much more interesting than Kuronoma herself.

IDK, I kinda like the main character. The fact that she's oblivious and clueless makes her cute/funny. It's a nice change from typical female characters you find in shounen romance anime/manga where the lead female is cooler/better/prettier than the lead (idiot/loser) male. :P

And by Yankees I think you mean Sawako's two friends, right? Yeah, they're pretty cool. :)

Be it a shoujo, I like it because I love romance anime.
It doesn't really matter what kind of anime it is as long as you can enjoy it.
Watched Bokura ga ita, which has something similar to this and loved that show too =].

If you think about it, a lot of girls watch shounen. :P But anyway, I'm a dude and I'm enjoying this so far. I personally prefer shounen over shoujo, but there are some good shoujo series out there. Last year's fall season had Skip Beat which I also really enjoyed. I just don't like those shounen-ai shoujo stories (07-Ghost).

straight guy... though saying that is the stupidest thing I've done in a while.

this, and Sasameki Koto, are two of the sweetest shows I've seen in a while...

I guess you'll be surprised, but outside Japan, shoujo anime is more popular among males than females (proven fact).

that's because, especially in the west, generally females over the age of 10, with numerous exceptions of course, don't watch cartoons.

anime/cartoons are the domain of children or "special" people. ;-)

I'm a guy, I watch it. It doesn't matter if it's shoujo or not. If you like it, you like it, period. One of my favorite animes is NANA and that's not exactly aimed for males.

Seconded.
This is much better than borderline hentai anime

There still much great shoujo/josei anime that guys still watch like Ouran, Nodame Cantabile or Honey & Clover. Genre didn't matter, what's matter is the storyline

This is my first shoujo anime in like forever (since sailor moon, card capters?) i dont know. Anyways iv come to terms with my sexuality so im not worried about losing my masculine side dispite feminine influences bombaring me xD. I read some shoujo mangas to but usely because i liked the mangakas seinen and shounen names.

*note to self watch more shoujo anime*

I'm pretty sure I'm a guy and I'm loving this show too. I've also seen other shoujo as well such as 5 Centimeters per Second, Clannad (probably my favorite), Da Capo, and ef and I don't feel like I've lost any "manliness". (Though I wouldn't admit watching that kind of stuff to just anyone) I just have a sensitive side that needs attention sometimes.

none of those shows, even 5cm/s, is shoujo. They're emotional fanservice for guys, instead of visual fanservice.

not a guy here but I'm amazed that a lot of guys actually watch shoujo series!!

I totally recommend guys to watch this because... I just want guys to learn a thing or two in here. Not to jump to conclusion, (like Yano-san) be a very nice guy and help the ones who feels isolated, be a nice guy in general and... Not to judge a girl by her APPEARANCE!!!

Well, that's about it... I'm still amazed by the number of guys here though...

Guy here <--

I really like Kimi ni todoke and I have watched tons of shoujo animes before.
Ouran High school host club, lovely complex, nana, honey & clover 1/2 and many more. I loved all of them.

In my opinion gender shouldn't restrict you in what you watch or do. Boys go watch shoujo, girls consume some shounen who the hell cares?

Btw. this way boys and girls learn alot about the opposite sex, how they think, how they behave and why. thats alot better than a standart stuck up society of housekeeping women and working men.

I watch what I want, shoujo or shounen. As long as the story, artwork, music and characters are good then I am happy. But, I do prefer a lot of the Shoujo stuff because it does seem to be more up my street when it comes to things like artwork music and story. However, in this day and age gender should not govern what we watch.
May the Uguu be with you.

Guys, why does sexual preference matter at all here...?

It's society's biggest problem, how manliness must be well executed in all situations. I'm a guy and I'm straight. I've watched many shoujos, some of them were amazing.

If you're willing to worry about what people will think of your sexual preference while watching Kimi ni Todoke, you should also worry about what people will think of your color preference. It's worth the same.

Guy here. Since I started watching anime about 7 years ago, the genre of anime has never mattered to me. Fruits Basket was like the third anime I ever watched and it's brilliant. I'm fine with watching any series as long as it has quality. For me, I feel lucky that I found a great series like Kimi Ni Todoke. I tend to find that shoujo animes are usually really good when it comes down to having a decent plot and deep characters.
