So the the tension between Marin and Akira was a big misunderstanding after all, basically Akira was such a huge fan that she calls her princess privately and didn't want to talk to her for fear of overreacting, which she did here. Beyond that this final episode of the season showed all the side characters join up for a cosplay photoshoot which turned out well except for Juju freaking out.

While season 2 was a good season overall I liked S1 much more, I think that was because S1 focused primarily on Gojo and Marin whereas S2 had a lot more focus on side characters that really didn't add much to the relationship between the 2 MCs. Having said that S2 did have high production values and smooth animation but I still felt that there was hardly much character growth between the 2 main MCs other than them getting a bit more comfortable around each other. Marin chickening out at the end was a letdown and this ended with no mention of S3 coming out.

The season started off a bit slow but with a plot twist at the end made up for it.

Wonderful, I really liked the ending, even though Marin couldn't confess her love to Wakana, but I'm satisfied with that...

The character interactions have a natural feel to them imo. It's as if no writing was done, but instead had real people hang out and do cosplay together, and then just turned the scene into anime. Yes reactions are still over-the-top (like with the reveal that Akira is just a massive fan-girl of Marin's cosplay.... a gag that was funny but which I think should've been limited to one episode rather than be set up, stretched out, and teased over multiple. But I guess it does help with the flow of things in the sense that it makes the episodes feel more connected rather than their own separate things), but when looking at the dialogue itself it just seems very casual and laid-back, like an actual group of young people hanging out, which is nice.

Just like season 1, we end this with a scene involving a phone. No declaration of love as to be expected, but honestly them taking their first-ever(?) selfie was satisfactory enough imo.

7/10. Kinda want to watch season 1 again now.

It took 3 years, but we're finally back. Or so I had hoped.

While I'll admit that I wasn't enamoured with Season 1 of MDUD, even someone like myself can totally understand why some folks were disappointed with this season... because I'm on the same boat as they are.

I disliked the fact that Marin & Gojo's relationship took a back seat. Was I expecting a confession this season? No. But at the very least I was expecting our lead couple and their interactions to be at the forefront throughout the entire season. Instead, new characters such as Akira and Amane are introduced... and IMO take the spotlight away from what made audiences fall in love with the first season.

And I find it very odd that this season decided to pivot to an increased focus on cosplay. If I wanted an anime that actually focused on "cosplay as a hobby", I'll just watch 2.5 Dimensional Seduction instead.

On top of all that, this season decided to switch gears to being a slice-of-life drama. Now I understand why some manga readers were complaining that the series was wandering aimlessly in the post Season 1 chapters. If I wanted a slow paced "day in a life" story, I'll just go watch Kimi ni Todoke.

With the kind of material that was ultimately depicted in Season 2, I also agree with those folks who think that it might have been better if Season 2 was speedrun so that the show can focus on the Mandate of Heaven arc instead... you know, the final 30 chapters of the manga where the focus shifts back to Marin and Gojo?

With how critical some viewers were for this installment of MDUD, I'm surprised that the overall MAL rating hasn't fallen below an 8.00. I guess that's a testatment to how much heavy lifting Marin is doing for this series. That she's well regarded waifu material even after all this time. Remove Marin and Gojo from the show, I doubt Season 2 would have such a high MAL rating.

An anime inspired by that fictional horror game would be interesting. Or you know, video game.
I wasn't expecting this from Akira. It was even disappointing...
Well. I thought there would be a dark backstory but there wasn't one at all.
Anyway, nice second season.

This season was.... unfortunately very boring compared to the 1st one. I did really enjoy 1st season, but this one... I enjoyed the first 2 or 3 episodes and maybe part of episode 12.

Gojou is unfortunately not a likeable character, and he's a big reason on why I couldn't enjoy this as much as I wished.
I did feel that about him in season 1 as well, but season 1 the cosplay passion and emotions flowed more naturally and was so much more fun in general that compensated for Gojou's one-dimensional goody two shoes.

Sincerely, I don't really care about romance here (specially having Gojou in mind cause he's waste of time), but if they gonna add and keep teasing us with that, better if they do it nicely and give at least a minimal of progression.

Sorry, Gojou =/ you are good guy but they didn't add nothing else. As a main character this was a mistake. Would be better suited as a side character.

If Sono Bisque gets a season 3, hopefully it will be as fun as it was season 1. Otherwise if this keep up like this, the only saving grace would be add yuri to this and I am not even joking xD

In general, this was in general a bland and disappointing season compared to the 1st.

jesus christ... these girls have stomach, especially in casually talking about such a disturbing game with such a cheery tone. Someone didn't finish the plot because of it, and it shows. Poor Gojo, he's living through it all over again and i understand him 100%

... wait, WHAT???????????????? Akira just pretended to dislike Kitagawa, and in fact she has the exact same opposite feelings for her and secretly fangirling? There it is. This sealed the second season as a 10, i was afraid of over the top out of place drama for a show as this one, or even worse, dragging it until a hypothetical third season, but... it did a pretty good job in hiding it until the very end. Uhm, yeah, she didn't find the courage to confess, whatever, that plot is still up in the air as the phone falling.

This was such a improvement over a already great season 1 that i won't write for too long, so many other people already commented before in this thread what i already think, even if, as a down side, there is no announcement for more anime material for now despite of the fact it's a extremely popular series (for deserved reasons) and i don't think it will be automatic to receive more exactly because i liked it to this extent. Season 2 raised the level about basically everything, what i wanted to watch was a much bigger cast, including a male cosplayer of female characters (also since i'm one myself, obviously not as great as Amane), and it immediately satisfied me. Gojo became more confident without turning into someone completely different, Kitagawa never stops being adorable, Akira's reveal turned from a concerning timebomb to the best possible twist in existence, seriously, what should i complain about? Not finding interesting the videogames they're all into? Come on. There is one much more important detail: unlike the average modern western show, this is a series with a message but never made it overpreachy and never treated the audience like someone to smugly educate. That's the way you do it.

10-/10. If it actually ends here as a animated adaptation, i will feel sorry, but at least it always stayed a joy to go through.

I remember reading the reveal that Akira really likes Marin and can't help herself so she said the things she said, I was like "lame af" while rolling my eyes up. Then again, Kisekoi has always been a "fantasy land" where everybody accepts whatever hobby you have and gets along nicely. The only negativity that's in the series is that girl who made fun of Gojo's fixation with hina dolls and that's it.

Animation is spectacular, even better than season 1 I'd say. Art is pretty, and quality is consistent throughout the season. One thing I noticed from watching episode 1 to 12 of season 2 is that it's tiring. Every scene is energetic, no time for me to rest. Season 1 took a more calm approach and honestly I prefer that. Every episode is like watching a Japanese youtube video with texts and over the top delivery by the characters.

This arc was like whatever for me in the manga too, but I believe all the whacky transitions are creative liberty by the animation studio and some work while others don't, so reading it isn't as exhausting.

I'd say this barely gets an 8/10 from me. Had it not been for the animation, this would sit on a 7/10.

What a disappointment of an ending another show that got 2 seasons and that's it. this season also added a crap ton of useless side characters to turn away from the relationship of marin and gojo and you know the series is done for when the idiots at the studio make an original ending to ruin the story also really was pissed there was 0 ecchi and very little comedy after the school cross-dressing thrash arc also really hated how much that FEMBOY was in this show i knew we were not gonna get a confession cause that simple never happens with these shows guess this is a yet another series i have to add to the stink pile even if i regret having to do it and this series isent even good enough for me to wanna read the source material on top of that

Oh look, someone needs a cosplay stitched, and guess who came back from the dead to do it... our good old simpleton drone, Gojou. And ofc the crossdressing weirdo is back too... like anyone actually cares. At this point, I feel like we’ve been doing nothing but a photoshoot for the last 3–4 episodes, or maybe my memory’s broken, because I can’t recall anything else. One thing I do remember: we were supposed to have a confession... wait, where is it? Oh right, this show doesn’t actually do romance. Almost as forgettable as the whole season, but hey, we move on.

Speaking of forgettable, who even are half these characters? Even outside of cosplay, the group dynamics are weak, not helped by the mediocre, boring supporting cast. It’s honestly baffling how, after all this, I still can’t tell who’s who... oh wait, that’s not my fault. And did I mention again that literally nothing happened? Oh, and miss crossdressing lady or whatever her name is, look at her, a hardcore, like really hardcore simp. So that makes her soooo cute, right? RIGHT???? Makes me wonder what was even the point of this character besides just adding another face to Marin’s endless queue of fangirls?

This season is actually horrendous and a baffling attempt at turning into a SOL. Newsflash show: to make a good SOL, you need good characters. I can’t even name one here, but hey, keep trying, because it’s clear you’re not putting any effort into the romance side. This and Takopii have really shown me how much people can be blinded by sakuga and flashy direction into thinking nothing-burger shows like these are good. Literally the definition of “carried by animation,” and I hate to even use that term.

This whole scene was absolutely pathetic lol. What a terrible way to end a season. They didn’t even tease a certain character at the end, so fingers crossed that means season three isn’t happening.

Wow the props and the studio, they really bring the Coffin scene alive.
Amazing cosplay for sure.

Omg turns out Akira is a fan of Marin lol

Well of course we didn't get the confession this season, but hey first selfie is a little W.
Congratulations Marin.

Great season, love it as much as the first one.

The overall adaption of the season was magnificent. The movements were so fluid, which was amazing to watch. You can tell how much love for the series was put into this. Really loved the side characters, from the classmates noticing and accepting Gojo's talents, to the cosplaying friends. Marin, as always, brings so much energy anytime she's on-screen. One of my favourite female characters to watch. Overall, another amazing season, and I'm really looking forward to another one. W Anime!!🔥🔥💯🐐✅️
