That's probably the most generic anime of the season. I am surprised I've got this far but I've seen enough.

I was confused. If her kiss was staged to trap the teacher in a blackmail scheme, then she has no genuine gratitude for what he did for her. She's fake.
If she kissed him and was casually seen, then she wasn’t to blame—but she also didn’t defend him from the blackmail. That mistake also shows her gratitude is false.
Either way, the scene ruined the character.

There’s a possibility that her immaturity was responsible for this act of betrayal against the person who performed a miracle for her. If that’s the case, she stopped being lovable. She became a little villain.

In any case, the teacher is extremely masochistic—he gets beaten from all sides and doesn’t fight back. It’s irritating.
If he believes the betrayal kiss was intentional, then he should make his pupil’s life a living hell, and his mentor’s life three times worse for using blackmail to trap him in a contract he didn’t want.

That ruined the brilliance of the final speech, which lost much of its impact because it wasn’t clear whether it was being delivered by a little villain or not.
It was a really bad episode.

@Myetx 60% of this anime will be Allen letting his harem bicker over him. TBH Lydia is the best character in the series and one of the best done tsunderes ever but I doubt this season of the anime will make it to the better part of the series. The next arc will be decent though but the series really improves at volume 5 and beyond and at most the anime might reach volume 5 then stop.

If it does end there that will be a brutal cliffhanger ending though. If this doesn’t get a 2nd season and you don’t plan to pick up the light novels not gonna be worth the watch.

Thank you! I’ll definitely revisit the scene. It seems to hold a plot twist, an unrevealed moment that, once revealed, will change the scene and how it's understood. There might really be something there. As for the mentor’s intentions toward Allen, I don’t think that’s the case, since he’s already protected by his girlfriend’s family to the point of having a mother-in-law figure. He does intend to force Allen into something, but I believe it’s not because of his feral family, I mean, to protect them.
