| Keep track of anime and manga I was watching/reading. Also meet some other anime fans and befriend them. Granted, I feel like I don't really befriend a whole lot of people on this platform awhole lot and even then. I prefer to voice call and do other shit while watching anime. I haven't met many people willing to do that sadly. But yeah the keeping track of anime and manga main reason. |

| I joined because this site is the best way to keep track of what I've been watching/reading but also to make more online friends T_T I feel like I need more online friends like I did way back in the day. Plus I really like the idea of forums and I wish they were more popular these days. Also an anime forum is a bonus |

| I actually joined MAL due to irl friends suggesting it to keep track of what we watched, our usernames were an inside joke and that's how I got this one lol. As for the forums, I prefer the old school format. The orange-social-media-that-shall-not-be-named is such a boring echo chamber and imageboards are just too brass for me, MAL is the sweet spot. |

| I had a massive watchlist on Kiss Anime when I was an older teenager, only for it to die alongside the website. Even though I am not much of an Anime Watcher anymore, I came here to save and review Manga/Manhwa/Manhua I read with some Anime titles Plus I am a bit ashamed to admit I am unable to remember most of the stuff I watched in the past, at least MAL can fix that issue Interacting with random fans of Japanese Entertainment got me to stay |

I'd been looking at it before I registered, but setting up my list at the time felt like such a gargantuan task. To this I still can't settle on ratings or even a rating system, it feels so arbitrary for me. I'm a very vibes based person! |

| Before i knew the MAL website, I stored anime names in doc files. It was so problematic that it was sometimes hard to handle after a total of 200 anime list. Sometimes I forget the anime types that are included in the 'plan to watch'. So it's difficult to pick the new best one that i'm willing to watch. After creating an MAL account, handling a big list became so much easier and I can even make it public. It’s awesome! |

| The website I was in was about to be closed. The owner announced they couldn't maintain it anymore so they told everyone they have a week to export their lists and whatnot But 2 months prior to this I had learned already that MAL was a thing and it had a few anime that prior site didn't have, I just enjoyed my peeps there so I wasn't in the mood to leave at the time |

| I made my account around 2014, where people in a lot of groups I was in used MAL, so I felt pressured to have one. I didn't start using it until 2016, though (In 2014 I think we still didn't have the seasonal viewer to make adding anime easier... and also I thought you had to spam the + button instead of adding the episode number directly), when I really decided to go serious about anime. I've used the MAL forums over the years, but talking specifically as to why I started using them A LOT ever since half of last year (And also why I've been watching a lot of anime since then) was because I wanted a place to discuss ideas I have, connect with people, but it can't be any people, they have to appear interesting, and MAL people fall into that. |

| MAL features a broad database and a litany of cataloguing features for one's own list that makes it simple to keep a record of series you've watched and what series you want to watch. Additionally, any given entry's MAL page also contains links to related, ancillary media pertaining to the same series. Why MAL over other anime cataloguing websites? Because this is one of the few that hasn't "modernised" with user-unfriendly UIs like flat design. |

| I saw the Fantasy league event and I thought that it would be interesting to play it, but then I found Forum games and I started playing, It was the first time in my life that i've used any kind of forums and it was pretty fun for me, I started posting and posting more and more and a year after here I am |

| I made my account in order to track the anime I watch, but I was using mal way before that. Also, I like forums and Mal is the only site I know which still keeps the traditional form of forums while it is still alive to this day. |
