I stand by what I said before: skipping him going to dungeon last week so we weren't left on a cliffhangers was a good decision. Now we had a moment to see how he got there and it's done.
Nice to see Sera getting some more scenes. I'm not a fan of her (yet), but she seems important and it felt weird that she just appeared on side here and there.
And it seems Ryo's power is going to get know more widely... not just from his dungeon rescue, but now also that hero heard of him?

I have been so into this series that in anticipation for ep 8 I went back and rewatched the 7 episodes already out again and after watching ep 8 I feel unfufilled. It was a good episode but I don't know what I was expecting. I guess where it left us off just did something for me. Maybe too much for me. It was a bit more of a chill episode which I did enjoy.

In manga, Ryo's punishment was to take 3 jobs a month and he / his party chose Whitnash because it seemed easy. I guess they are bit shortcutting it for the anime. Now i wonder what other details are different. :D

Still the world and characters in this series seem interesting, i wish there were more translations out and light novel seems actually pretty packed but i'm not much of a LN reader. Animation could definitely be better but story and characters and the fact it has been made into anime to introduce such a world is still nice it exists.

Ahh yes ofc the Ryo will not receive any praise from the general public for his heroics...but I should have really seen that coming tbh.

But Ryo and Sera seem cute together in this episode :}

Finally, it seems Ryo is gonna head off on an adventure next week so look forward to that!

@stealthyone I see where you’re coming from. All I’m saying is, even if it was just a friendly match, Ryō is someone who practiced swordsmanship day and night with the Fairy King, who’s basically a godlike figure in the anime, so it was just a bit unexpected to see him lose like that, that’s all.

The Fairy King only trained him for about 20 years, but Sera is an elf with possibly centuries of experience. I’m sure Ryo could overcome her and everyone in their world eventually, but not right now. Remember how he struggled with Leonore, though I’m sure if Ryo and Sera worked together they would destroy her. Still, Ryo is insanely powerful and getting better with each fight.

Wait, what? I mean, I ain't disagreeing with you since I don’t know for sure, but twenty years?! Where did you come across that information? He looks 17 at most, without counting the years before his reincarnation. How is he twenty years old? He doesn’t look it at all.

How the fuck are they gonna glaze up Ryo like he's the second coming of Jesus Christ every 2 minutes in every imaginable context and then have him be beaten so casually?! It's kind of awkward, no?

@PrynnTze Who's doing the glazing? The old wizard, the guild master, and abel. Aside from those who survived level 40, it's not common knowledge Ryo is super amazing.

Ryo was beaten so casually by elf girl Even when Elf girl said that he miraculously kept up with her multiple times? When he wasn't using magic and she was for swordsmanship?

Nah it's not awkward. Maybe for some viewers.

He has a hidden trait “Eternal Youth” that stops his aging, which is why he doesn't look older. He’s immortal, for all intents and purposes, so that’s why he’ll be able to be friends with Sera for a long, long time. Also, we’re shown Abel as a child when it's showing time passing by in the kingdom. By process of elimination subtracting Abel’s age from Ryo’s perceived passage of time during his training we deduce the time passed. It’s also sort of hinted in the manga, and more clearly in the LN that he was training for roughly twenty years IIRC. I hope that helps.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Edit: It’s wrong that I called Ryo “immortal” because that implies he can’t die, which we know he can. He’s gotten hurt plenty of times already, we’ve seen it. I guess it would be best to call him ageless, just like elves and other long-lived beings.

@stealthyone I completely understand everything now, thank you so much. I wonder how I managed to miss all of that. Was it really stated in the anime, or only in the manga and light novel? Because I honestly don’t remember anything like that being mentioned in the anime.

Then again, it might really have been stated, and I just missed it because I’m watching 16 different anime this season, haha. Sometimes that completely wrecks my memory, watching so many at once ends up frying my brain with all the information from different shows.

It’s easy to miss a small detail like that, especially when you have your hands full with other stories at the same time. I’m glad I was able to assist you, enjoy! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Natalie's emergency call for help for Ryo to intervene in the dungeon, it's a quick call that certainly calls for his magic to get to the heart of the zone fast.

Ryo vs. the demon prince, and the former proves his powers alright like a mofo, unfazed and unmoved. The thing is, the information of the devils against demons like Leonore intrigues Ryo because of conflicting information, and Clive's team certainly were underprepared against Leonore stealing the Sacred Jewel with space-time magic.

Hugh's news reeling from Harold's news about Ryo defeating the demon prince, now they know that they have a threat on their hands. On the other hand, the kiddo coincidentally meeting Sera again in a bar, she's certainly happy to see him whenever the chance arrives, and her requesting for a friendly bout as the teaching swordsmaster for Margrave Lune's knights, it only proves more that these two are made for each other in terms of their commonalities. And Hugh catching Ryo along the way to help him out on his secret quest to see some merchants in Whitnash, what awaits the magician?

Hugh's "punishment" to Ryo, yeah right, it's more like not trying to pit themselves against him...
