They really did. The homeless man from episode 3 was Skinner all this time. Even Doug has suspicious it was him but he keep silent all this time. This Anime could have ended sooner but 1) they choose to make Skinner's whereabouts so obvious 2) Skinner is stupid, he choose to hide in the most obvious place, contrary to the constant show claims, very few people are searching for him in the first place so it shouldn't hard to hide considering he has a hacker to protect him 3) the fact he didn't use plastic sugery to hide his face instead just a glass and a hat is even more stupid. 4) how tf Skinner could write without much issues if he's blind? 5) how Skinner have the cure and no one even Hersch could do something about it? If the cure wasn't that hard consdering what he wrote, I wonder why not other scientists can create something to cure Hapna in the first place. It's a huge plot hole itself 6) how the cure could be created and distributed around the world when they are no time for the end of the world? What was even the whole point of the pill found in Skinner's mansion. It was forgetten by the end.
The assasasin? He was just created justify a final boss which it was unnecesary for this Anime since he has very little relation to the plot and characters in the first place. Attempt of doing another Vicious? Yep, they failed. Both are edgy but at least one wasn't nerfed and it was important to the character. Here? It was the opposite. The "final battle" wasn't even good. He just die without issue when the part of the building collapsed despite he survived injuried in the water, I can't believe they nerf him even more than before lol. How Axel survived the same building collapsed despite being injuried? Plot armor obviously. The guy with glasses? He did awful things to the point of killing his own military ally when he tried to snitch on him (despite the military guy was also helping the guy with glasses making him look like a hypocrite at the same time) yet he say a few words to Abel and let himself arrested without much issue. What was the entire point of his character if the writer is not going to do something with him?
And yes, everyone was at the airport! Yeah! They don't explained why they were "revived" in the first place making the whole point stupid af. What stuff make them special? Their blood? Why not studying to find a cure rather than forced them to join a team? It creates more questions than answer, it was more simple it they were just criminals and nothing more. Even Eleina, despite the cult episode says she was raised in a cult. The same cult who don't allow their people to have contact with the outside world yet somehow its obvious from the scene Eleina was not alone in that airport's scene. Plot hole.
Hopna was made to expose the bioweapon development of the government? Then why is he attemping to destroy humanity later? Imagine killing humanity cuz some humans are bad. Do he know what is he doing it? Sure, the hacker girl, the people from the Island and his grandmother probably never consumed Hopna but they have friends or relatives who did. That's why supporting him makes no sense. Even if they are not affected, they shouldn't support what he's doing. It's like supporting genocide which this series openly support.
If anyone want to watch a good "world went to shit after a revelation" aka a true apocalypse, go to watch Devilman: Crybaby. It's much more believable than boring Lazarus "end of the world" chaos.
Now for something some people rightfully complained: is it woke? Yes, Lazarus is woke but not so woke as your tpyical Western Animation. Most Lazarus's female characters are still femenine, fanservice scenes of female characters still exist and male characters still protect female characters in many episodes. Such stuff are replaced by men with wigs, no fanservice of female character and female characters being the only important characters in Western Animation. Global warning, humanity are bastards, climate change, evil US gov is more a gray area here, sure it was annoying and the comparasion they try to made with Hopna and climate change is a bs comparasion for obvious reasons but it could be much worse if Lazarus was more like Western Animation wokeism -like characters preaching about climate change or the main characters being pro-climate change- but it didn't happen. The infamous scene in Ep 3 was the peak woke moment in this show, note they didn't even mention Doug "reason" of why he commited a minor offense again in the show since probably the writer realized the character whole background was his race and nothing more (he is the only Lazarus's member who we know less), probably to avoid a controversial topic and the trans character which he only appears in the same place since making him more relevant is going to cause issues with the audience since Jill was already unpopular from the start. I have a feeling the dialogue between Jill and Doug is not something Watanabe write or created considering he said he has to change some things, it looks like someone infiltrated in Lazarus's writing team and made the dialogue and then it was completely forgetten by the next episode since it was never mentioned again (Doug) and the character (Jill) dissapeared from the show. While Lazarus is not really woke as your average Western Animation, this should been a warning sign of what Anime must not be.
It's been fun criticizing Lazarus. Lazarus fails as a Watanabe's Anime and fails as a stand-alone series.
Lazarus is the worst Anime from 2025 and the worst Anime made in the 2020s
