with the main character being the most annoying bum in the entire series and the worst plot I've ever seen this one is definitely the worst villainess anime of all time hands down.
Excellent episode and anime. Would have been even better if they did away with the forced romance with the Duke. Alicia is the definition of the independent woman who doesn't need a man. Especially one as creepy as he his. Hopefully season 2 can focus more on her since she's out of the kingdom now.
Duke suddenly having amnesia...this sure came at a VERY wrong time.
Even having the spiteful guys along to give him a nomal pep talk, Duke only confirms their worst fears, and it's clear that Alicia needs to tackle this unsettling trap, because she wants exile to head to Laval, though being targeted by the same high-level magic that is more or less the same as Liz's, but on a memory-erasing level.
The school in uproar over Duke's situation and Mel's uncovering of Alicia's unintended fault with her exile, not to mention things about Roana Village, there's just too many things going on concurrently. Obviously, Liz confronting Alicia who only gets the news thereafter, but the fact that Duke would fake his own amnesia just so he could send her off to Laval, it's a dream come true that romance has to stand in the way of her objective. Just as is the liberation of Roana Village, Alicia's sendoff is quite the heartpain, and while Duke did not disappoint with his farewell kiss, the villainess route still stays true even to the end.
What a fakeout for Alicia to finally let loose her villainess traits all the more, as she approaches Laval's gates.
Damn, this show just loves to subvert expectations, yet keep the tones in line and check. It's decent, I'll give it that.
@KANLen09 hello, you seem to know what you are talking about. Let me ask you couple of question about the final episode.
1) Duke eased his own memories, if so then why?
2) If the Duke regained his memories why was villainess still exiled?
3) Why did the show take a 180° at the end. I mean, they could have liberated roana and left it there. But they had to mess with memories, and exile.
It's annoying, I was just enjoying then they had to filp, the LN isn't finished, nor is the Manga and season 2 will take years.
I love how the story progressed to this point. it's way better than other trapped in otome game as vilainess anime thing.
in the end, Alicia also has a special black rose blooming for her without her knowing.
Tbh, this anime was quite underwhelming. It was not bad but not great either. The whole anime felt somewhat childish.
The main character acts like a child for the most part trying to play the villain and all, while the other characters were all kinda one-dimensional. Not to mention, the prince was quite the boring character and all the romance scenes felt forced and cringe worthy. The prince might be the first anime character voiced by Ishikawa Kaito-san that I didn't like at all. Probably won't watch a season 2 if it ever gets one.
Not enough people are talking about the fact that being "exiled" for them is being sent to their ENEMY NEIGHBOURING COUNTRY. Yeah great idea, send the person who now hates the kingdom for being exiled to your enemy, they totally will not take advantage to get intel on them.
And even if it wasn't a high ranking noble like the MC, what kind of country would accept high profile criminals? Do they trade exiled criminals? So silly.
Also, not Duke kissing Alicia literally right after she tells Gill she doesn't want to be with him 💀. And I keep forgetting there's a 5 year age gap 💀.
Bro was 12 when he started liking Alicia at age 7. She was 10 and the other boys were 15 when they joked about going on dates with her. She was 13 and Duke was 18 when he started openly flirting with her. Not to mention that random bed scene where he was shirtless??? Hello? That has to be some type of sexual harassment. And now shes 15 and he's 20 saying he loves her and wants to keep her in a cage... And gets turned on when she says no because he likes his women fiesty 💀. Duke my man, you wilding.
All in all, I think this series really dragged towards the later episodes with the same silly problems coming up over and over again with Liz and her followers calling out Alicia in public.
I'm mad that we got 12 episodes of Alicia + dumb Liz and zombies farce when the real Liz is a decent person, like I feel like my time has been wasted for the past 12 eps....
I have no idea if I liked this show or not. I was cringing during the first half and deeply invested during the second half. And then while watching this episode I had a permanent frown on my face. I can't believe this has a score higher than 7. What a stupid ass cliffhanger, ugh.
No, you cannot just leave me hanging like this. I want a S2!!!!!!!!!
Overall, pretty OK anime. Quite fresh for a villainess genre. The opening kinda give it away that Alicia is special too with that black rose. Can't believe I binged everything in a single night. What a time to be alive.
I liked the long hair version better (or maybe like in between the new and old hair length)
+ having both eyes... since the OP'ing always showed a older Alicia with long hair and both eyes. But we know Alicia never had those scenes from the OP'ing as she gave away her eyes almost right after the time skip.
(then at the end of OP'ing it shows Alicia with only 1 eye and longer hair than current overlooking the city.
.
Tho... I am still confused about the part where you can only leave the country if you're exiled... it sounds like some sort of extreme North Korea bullshit where people are not allowed to leave... Why did they even do the plot like this?
.
Also... Alicia get "forced on" yet again... since the beginning when she was just a loli... she never had a "choice" (even if it's consensual) (there are RL court cases of people being coerced to be "consensual" and it still counts as illegal activity if it wasn't their natural choice)
But then again, this goes way back to human culture across the world, where "domination" is part of natural order in life, even in Love. Lots of people loved to be "forced on" by the people they're attracted to. And views these type of "forcing" behavior as "romantic".
.
And well... since this is last episode, the series is obviously not finished... I wonder if this series will actually get another season.
And in a way... Alicia mentioned this is her still following the game setting where the game Alicia was also exiled, so whatever happened can be considered as some sort of hidden extra story if the game dev did any, lol (sometimes they do, do this)
However... why did they have to blindfold her eyes? was it some sort of top secret passage to be exiled? LOL
Not to mention... it looked as tho even with the blindfold... Alicia can still "see". As she literally stopped right at the line before continuing on.

I love Villianess series, but this one seems to be having quite an amount of issues here and there... so I am not enjoying it as much as say "Bakarina" or even the "narrator villianess". (The MC is fine, I like her. But the problem lies with all other characters and setting that feels so stupid at times that I get pissed off and had to skip parts of an episode...)

Nothing Written Here But Us Anime Bunnies *boing boing boing*
This show had great eyecatches. I don't see those often enough in newer anime. This one in particular made for an entertaining time. Alicia doing her best to live up to the standard of a "villainess" by doing good acts in her own way was amusing.
As far as finales go, this one made sure to tie up the roana plot it was working towards and hinted at a new plot thread for a potential season 2. I'm happy with that.
Also I'm glad Duke was just faking the amnesia. A duke not thinking about Alicia 24/7 is like an Alicia who doesn't care about being a villainess. It's inconceivable...
