@SabreDrago They should also have cut short the episode length to 15-20 min. Dont agree, i was really enjoying each of the episodes, and i didnt want them to end.
@Hrinka i really felt for the relationship between the Shogun and the ex-Monk. I had the same feeling, about the 1st half and also the end was to quick and flishy. @AestheticLaifu Yeah you know that but because u read the manga? Anyway from a direction point of view, if you are going to put the scenario at X time and then set it -150 years from X i think there are better ways to do it.
@Stormgoddes it happened the same to me "How did I complete this in one night?!"

@Floral_soap
Yup, and the "incoherence of life" he, who wanted to go back to another place since the start, in the end remained. Not his disciple though. Also, Kasuga who killed his friend and forced him to stay there, was in his final moments with Arikoto cause he decided to care for her!

I'm surprised O-Natsu and O-Tama were able to leave under the guise of Monks though, that's good for them, I suppose.
I really thought they will not be leaving for any time soon! Thats a good way for the show to have a "happy ending", in a realistic way, even upon the death of Kasuga they still should have stayed there.

Its a slightly wierd ending considering the beginning of the show.

The show started from what could be described as the present of the show with the reminiscence/depiction of the past event from the written record that described the situation of present.

But the story came back to present. It ended in past itself.

I don't know what source material contains but in my opinion they should have skipped the entry of Fourth Shouganate (technically Fifth) part & bring the story back to present for a better ending afterall some changes were to be brought in present due to struggling financials & need of time in general.

The ending was a bit abrupt

I'm definitely planning on reading the manga

This anime was depressing to watch. I feel so bad for the characters. It felt like no one was allowed to be happy. Arikoto should just end up with Gyokuei criesss
I really loved the first half but then it got kind of boring towards the end. Honestly, I was far more interested in the present rather than the past. Also, Kasuga was 65 when she died?? Woman looked like she was in her 70s.

RUNNING returned to me in an even more beautiful form.
Can one man be so blessed?
