Anime that use older, existing J-pop songs as OPs/EDs?

Kind of a weird question but eh. The other day, I was watching the anime ‘Kuuchuu Buranko’ where both the OP and ED were done by Denki Groove who I think also did the Devilman Crybaby OP.

While the OP seems to be made for the anime, I was quite surprised that the ED was a song that they had originally recorded all the way back in 1997, twelve years before ‘Kuuchuu Buranko’ even came out. It was even a top 10 hit for them apparently.

Technically it was a more modern remix of the song (with a less bass-heavy mix) but nonetheless, it got me thinking... usually when an anime uses relatively older pop songs for their OPs/EDs, it’s usually a song sung in English (like Jojo = pretty much every ED, Evangelion = Fly Me to the Moon, Cyberpunk Edgerunners = Franz Ferdinand etc.). However, I’m wondering if anyone has an example of an anime that uses a relatively older Japanese pop song for its OP/ED, kinda like Kuuchuu Buranko?

I’d think there’d probably be a few others (maybe some anime movie EDs?). Admittedly I’m not the most well-versed in Japanese music - perhaps there are some obvious ones that I am missing xD

(Btw I’m not looking for insert songs or anything, nor am I looking for stuff like VN adaptations where the OPs/EDs were originally part of an older game).

Hinoi Team's Ike Ike was used for the ending of Strawberry 100%, this was done at the peak of eurobeat and bubblegum j-pop.

The only stuff I can think of are, well the first example are the covers but it's still an older song and that is Paripi Koumei, OP and ED are the covers of older songs [By older I mean it is older than the anime by at least few years], the second and last example is Great Pretender which uses for ED Freddie Mercury song.

Below examples [for Paripi koumei next to it's op/ed I'm posting originals]

One I can think of is the ED for His and Her Circumstances which is a cover of the 1973 song Yume no naka e by Yosui Inoue. Not sure if it's a pop song though. It actually appeared in Suzume which was how I discovered that it's an oldie lol

You seem to have watched that anime series too. At least you know about this now

If I look hard enough I might be able to find more but the one that comes to mind is the OP of Erased by Asian Kung-Fu Generation since it was originally just a song of their second album Sol-fa released back in like 2004.

Very interesting topic. The 2016 anime ReLIFE has a different song for each episode's ending, and I believe all of them are previously released J-Pop songs. I can guarantee episode 7 ending is Porno Grafitti's single "Saudade" released on 2000.

@Zayvex Funnily enough, I had a gut feeling that an Asian Kung-Fu Generation song would be an example. Glad to know my suspicions were right!

Brave Witches ED is Little Wing by Lindberg:

Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu ED is Momoiro Kataomoi by Matsuura Aya:

And airing now, Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san ED is Gakuen Tengoku by Finger 5:

Also EP6 ED in Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san S3 (actually many EDs for that show are covers of existing songs):
