He also said that his predictions are always correct, why is he now saying ratings dont matter anymore, i wonder what happened. True Frieren fans seem less rabid with the score thing which I will commend them for.

| I generally rationalize it as men and women enjoying it although for different reasons. It is impossible to get rated high on average if you only focus on catering to 1 sex though I prefer lower rated anime for that reason. Top rated anime means it was safe enough to not offend any group. Kind of the gross corporate endgame of esg. It is appealing to the least common denominator. |

@Okeanix You’ve listed clichés as negative but in the same post listed that there is no foreshadowing, also as a negative. Use and overuse of foreshadowing is a common cliché, especially in Re Zero. I’d also like to say that using IQ as a measure of intelligence is highly flawed and there are plenty of research papers and entire books written about the subject if you would like to actually increase your own intelligence rather than belittle that of other people for subjective views.

Re:Zero is a very complex and well-written series that not everyone has the capacity to grasp, unlike shounens (Frieren, Demon Slayer, and such). Shounens are always more liked compared to seinens. Re:Zero will never be higher rated than Frieren since 100% of people can understand Frieren, while Re:Zero is a very niche, complex series that requires patience and dedication. They also call me a Mushoku Tensei hater, but Mushoku Tensei is much, much better than Frieren. |

Like the company's adventures in LOTR, the story thinks about what happens afterward. What happens after Sauron is defeated? Returning to a casual life and reminiscing. But a character outliving the whole party - seeing the entire rise and fall of evil, the impacts of just a few people on the world even decades later? It's a good concept. The fantasy anime genre has been lacking a modern high fantasy setting that DOESNT include harems and fanservice. There are very few that actually take themselves seriously. The genre needed Frieren. Frieren does a lot right. A logical magic system, characters with actual consistent personalities, world building. I can see it's flaws. There are repetitive scenes and moments. The biggest thing it does right is that it's a romance without being a romance. Frieren is only realizing decades later what her party members meant to her. It's teaching us to be present in the moment and enjoy every second. Also to pick up on hints. Your reasoning for disliking the series seems pretty shallow. You should also recognize that your opinion isn't the end all be all, and being different doesn't make you quirky. |

The relationships are beautiful indeed, but they are not really the "mc". Frieren on the other hand is a very fresh, endearing, and captivating MC. And I suspect everyone who loves the show has fallen in love with her so hard that they watch the anime with "love goggles". So I can totally understand the ridiculously high ratings, cause for me Frieren is Über Alles! |
