Finally.. Watching yuusha gokkō (playing as hero) is over 😑
Normal good anime for killing time 8/10..
Not that epic / good, also not that bad / boring..
Also easy to forget.. (Except for the blonde girl 😍😅)

THe first season was better, though only decent, but this one just seemed pointless...luckily the animation and look was still pretty good. THe coloring and shading too. THe intro wasnt as good, but w/e. Worth the end! solid 6/10. MOVING ON TO MORE SLOW LIFE lol

New illustration to commemorate the final episode.

@ARK-13 Nice, Rit deserves happiness.
And thus, they lived happily ever after... .

All those frustrating moments of that ignorant hero and obnoxious fairy..

Despite every mess, those fluffy Red-Ritt moments, Ruti & Tisse, The new ship between Albert and Theodora, Danan airheadness and much more.. were real treats for the heart.

The end episode suffices and pays off wholesomely at the very least.

Wishing for a Season 3 with more heartwarming SOL content.

PS: That S1's OP, "Beautiful Day" by Yuinishio was a fine touch.

I quite liked this series. I expected season 2 to be lesser quality, and I was correct.

I really loved season 1. They handled the relationship between Rit and Red very well. All the characters are fun and likeable. You can understand why they're doing what they're doing. It was satisfying watching Ares die and introduced a lot of mysteries about the world, which has way more world-building than I expected. I was also pleasantly surprised that the action scenes were decent. A lot of times in these cozy wish-fulfillment anime, most other elements get sacrificed for atmosphere and theme. In trying to elevate beyond that, you lose bits of that here and there but gain in other areas.

There were so many loose threads and open-ended questions after season that it's unsurprising they didn't know where to take it. On the one hand, we're largely ditching Rit and Red's relationship because their story is over, and we're just waiting on hallmark moments. There's still a very real opportunity to develop their relationship further, but they didn't want to chip away at that blind love. So instead we're spending the quiet moments with Ruti and Tisse, who are also heartwarming but not as deep. I was worried that the other characters would largely be absent from this one. The townspeople were, which was a clear loss, but we still got to spend time with the main cast.

Van is an obvious paradox in this show. On the one hand, the world literally NEEDS a hero to take Ruti's place. On the other hand, Van is a theocratic genocidal maniac. It feels like Van should die, but killing him would force Ruti back into the hero role. So of course he's going to eventually be somehow redeemed because the rules of the world demand it, but it's not exactly very satisfying. The action scenes didn't feel as impactful, the pacing wasn't as strong, and it really felt like we were wasting a lot of time by the end. I didn't expect to get answers to the mysteries in an ongoing story, so that didn't really bother me.

Ruti is definitely the biggest disappointment here. She's extraordinarily cute. Near the beginning she proclaims that she'll be Red's "Number One Lover" (as all good imotous should), but that really doesn't go anywhere. We're setting up a natural rivalry between Rit and Ruti. Red is Ruti's entire world: her surrogate father, her older brother, her best friend, her confidante, her guide, her mentor, her protector, and at the end of season 1 her savior from her fate. It is understandable why she would feel this way. The natural expectation is for her to demand more and more attention from Red, trying to force him to choose between Rit and Red. It really feels like the story should revolve more around this than anything else. Even at the end, Ruti wants to be his second wife (I was waiting for her proposal). This is the obvious way to grow and develop all of these characters, but I honestly think the writer didn't know how. I can forgive everything else in a wish-fulfillment anime, where the whole focus is supposed to be rebuilding your life after losing your purpose, friends, and family. I really can't ignore this, especially since I wanted to see it so badly. Instead we get a lot of love monologues from Rit, and those almost always come off forced and cringey in stories. Less is more in these cases.

Even so, the show still had enough charm and whimsy that I quite enjoyed it. 10/10 for season 1; 8/10 for season 2. I would probably rate it a little lower on a future watch. There's a lot of ways to move the plot forward, but I think the focus would be forced to switch to action and mystery.

P.S. The subs I was watching changed Tisse's spider's name. I really like season 1's Mr. JumpyJitters over Crawly Wally-san.
