After the terrible episode 19 and episode 20 this show returns to the previous formula of Maomao tackling random meandering cases. Also this dude really has the body of a modern bodybuilder or a fucking greek god in the Tang period of Imperial China lol. Jinshi, also known as "Bland Love Interest" is jealous because her quirky waifu was bodychecking the white anime version of Ronnie Coleman. Maomao is a femcel, Jinshi, she isn't going to do anything at all and you should know that at this point. Also more boring parts with the useless doctor whos name I forgot. These moments where Jinshi is jealous are so cringe ngl; and the fact that it is being treated as a funny quirk bewilders me.

Anddd why did the little girl appeared along Pairin when Maomao was talking about Pairin's talents? Weird scene.

Yea that scene wasn’t in the light novel or in the manga at all so the fact that the people behind the anime decided to add it is pretty questionable

Lihaku wants to buy out Pairin, and asks how much she would cost to Maomao. She checks out his body to see whether he’d fit Pairin’s taste. Jinshi happens to come at the time and misunderstand as usual, but then Maomao clears it in a blunt way.

Jinshi offers to help Lihaku with money to buy out Pairin, but he declines it. Jinshi seems to have a good understanding of him now.

Lakan wanted to buy out, but who? Maomao or her mother?

The interaction between that quack doctor & Maomao is adorable & fun, neve know that the doctor is quite wholesome.

Lihaku is a good man, I hope he end up with Pairin. Rooting for them~

Much enjoy whenever stories briefly expand the lives of their minor characters. The eunuch doctor is largely been a joke character. Giving him a scene about his background adds so much to all further scenes with him.

I love this episode for a personal reason, even if nothing happen but there are so many details.

First of all, we know that Pairin is not a virgin, despite that she manage to be the top three of the brothel which mean she's crazily good at other aspects (anyone can guess). There are so many evidences but the most solid that is she's able to breastfeed Maomao, which suggest that she get pregnant around that time. She has no child though I don't want to conclude that she get abortion but it wouldn't be that strange given the context of her situation.

Second, and the most important information for me, is that Lihaku doesn't seem to go all the way with Pairin yet, and that's why Maomao want to get that measurement data to report to Pairin. Lihaku is my most favorite character so I almost hate Jinshi when he interrupt Maomao's examination. I'm sure whoever marry Lihaku will be the luckiest person in that world, and I want to be that person. But since I just can't jump into a fiction, I can only hope Lihaku stay innocent as long as possible.

This episode got me in my feels. Lihaku is such a likeable dude, rooting hard for him. And the way Jinshi is always looking out for his Maomao... GOALS

Some lore about the doctor Maomao hangs out sometimes, she casually solved the issue with the paper production of his people haha. When Jinshi found Maomao and Lihaku was very funny, a misunderstanding like that time when he thought Maomao have slept with him. Some lore about Maomao too, she was raised by the courtesans and even Pairin breastfeeding her, lucky Maomao hahahaha. Besides from Lihaku wanting to buy Pairin nothing happened in this episode.

I feel like this anime lost its luster in the 2nd cour. We are 21 episodes in, and I feel like almost nothing is ever happening here so for the most part, this feels like a nothing burger; it feels so darn generic with the same formula of having Maomao resolving cases because she's apparently MacGyver and can solve everything, then we have the same dumb generic comedy with the chibby faces or Jinshi getting jealous because of a misunderstanding, and worse of all, that guy in the 1st cour was kind of interesting, but in the 2nd cour he's looking more and more pathethic.

This anime had such a great start, but sadly I'm getting bored, when something serious happens it quickly return to the same Slice of Life bullshit in the very next episode and honestly, by episode 21 I expected better and something more serious. I will finish this season, but if this is how the 2nd season will be, then I won't be too hyped about it.

What a shame, but this anime degraded to a 7/10 for me now, I'm just getting way too bored and tired with the same formula here, they are overusing the shit out of it and I feel like the payoff isn't worth it.
