"I fixed up an old abandoned shrine, once. Seemed like the right thing to do. No idea what god the shrine was for, but it was probably just a minor deity." Yeah... Rentt stumbled onto the shrine to some ancient primordial creator being, and it's been looking out for him ever since. I'd put money on it.

Homeboy really underestimates himself and his support network/significance in the community. I'd like to see more of the church in this world, just to see how accurate his concerns are, re: burning the abomination. 'Cause Lorraine's protecting him, Sheila's protecting him, the townies who recognize him seem hurt that he hasn't reached out but they're not putting him on the spot. Yes, he craves flesh, but Lorraine has proved this is a manageable condition. They've told us what a dangerous position Rentt is in, but I don't feel like they've shown us.

Not a deal-breaker, though. The explanation of the three powers and how they mix was interesting, as was the sidequest to save the village. I couldn't tell: did Ryuntus not go through the guild because of the time constraint, or because he had no money? Not that Rentt wouldn't have freed the town pro-bono. It's how he charms so many.

OP: AAHHH MY EARS

ED: ahhh... relax.

In today's episode we have: human trafficking, thanks to these villagers being kinda dumb. They should've just relocate temporarily or something, just to see what would happen if the 'lord of the lake' didn't get a sacrifice. While they all did have sad faces, they seemed a little too ready to give up one of their own- especially the girl herself, who almost seemed like she WANTED to be sacrificed. Also with the first girl who was 'sacrificed', they all seemed surprised when the monster, the 'lord of the lake' ate her up. Like what were you expecting??

They don't even show them, but those poor trafficked girls man. This festival happens once a year right? Which means that there must be several girls who were cooped up in that shack across the lake for many years. Speaking of, why did those 'merchants' (ugh so many quotations amirite) keep the girls stored so freaking close? Do they WANT to get caught? Or maybe they knew the village was dumb asf so they just took the risk.

Also I'm surprised that those villagers allowed Rentt, an outsider they never met, and the BROTHER of the sacrifice, take the girl (I forget her name) out to the middle of the lake. They didn't run away, but wouldn't they suspect that the brother would want to save her from being sacrificed?? They were kind of just like, "yeah sure you can do it no prob!"

Getting kind of nitpicky now, but that lake seemed to not be that big. How did those merchants keep quite a sizeable ship there hidden all this time. Or maybe it was just there all this time, the dumbass villagers probably just thought nothing of it. Maybe it was engulfed in fog all this time, even during sunny days?? Also how did they even GET that ship IN the lake? Did those merchants just build it there without anyone knowing? Or did the SMART villagers just see them build it there and said: "oh wow, big ship in small lake, nothing wrong with that!"

But you know what, it's all okay, because we get to see Rentt go all out and beat down those merch- oh, he just jumps in illusion and then it cuts? Oh... okay, that's fine.

All jokes aside, still really enjoying this. And even if there may have been a bit of nonsense in this episode, it's all worth it for the kiss that Rentt gets in the end. <3

Some more plot holes to this utterly ridiculous episode:
1. There seems to be at most 30 houses in the village. Maybe about 150 people at most. If they've sacrificed several young women already then that's basically the entire town's population of young women, at which point you'd doubt both the sustainability of the town and the sanity of the townsfolk. Like seriously these people should've just abandoned the village.
2. On a related note, couldn't the merchants have just burnt the town to the ground. They seem to have had a damn army on standby and the villagers had to go outside the town to find one bronze adventurer to slay the supposed lord of the lake. Instead of committing simple banditry, they spent months orchestrating the kidnapping of all the town's young women with powerful mages on the ready, while leaving plenty of room for things to go wrong.
3. Why TF were the villagers all cowering in their home EXCEPT for during the sacrifice festival when they got all friendly with each-other.
4. Finding that many greedy, skilled warriors of whom none would leak the conspiracy is not just unbelievable but a dangerous idea to put in people's head.

I feel like I must be forgetting something. I know there was something major that drove me to these forums.

The festival is just a re-enactment of what is presumably a myth. The lord of the lake may not even be real considering it didn't save the villagers when the sacrifice festival was attacked by pirates.

I think they offered sacrifices more often when the "lord of the lake" started demanding them. Still it's an absurd amount of time to keep the humans you're trafficking at the scene of the crime.

They explicitly showed that the fog rolled in only once they entered the lake, so it's not that.

I thought I will see Rentt use that triple magic on an actual monster soon but maybe it's a little too early for that

As good as usual, although it was lame that they didn't show a rather important comat scene and essentially glossed over it.

That was a pretty good twist with the lord of the lake actually being human traffickers all along. Those guys had no shame trying to get the villagers to buy stuff from them whilst kidnapping its members.
