| A game from the mid 2000s had the best set of emojis I've seen so far, and they were all 3D animated. I never got used to modern text emoji and would rather use emoticons instead, though some of them can be kind of creepy. Sad thing they don't appear on all devices :( |

I actually years back made a Clannad themed emoticon set mainly consisting of dangos by editing some images pixel by pixel to do the details though i probably should have did it from scratch i was trying to make it match with an icon someone made. |

I'm not sure, but I think those were original. The game was called Myth War and it was Chinese (also had a sequel that used them), but the servers were shut down eons ago. What I really liked was not just the art but that there was always an emoji that matched your mood despite their small number. When I scroll through line/discord/whatever emojis these days, there's hundreds I'd never even consider using and I can never find one that matches the way I feel. For example, (assuming that #0 is top left and #8 is bottom left), #61 and #62 are almost perfect when animated. The first is usually used sarcastically to blame something or someone when in reality it's your fault, and the second is a mix of feeling sad and having bad luck (hence the rain with the small umbrella being pretty much useless). I haven't been able to find anything that good even in LINE's premium sticker collections. #46 is also great since it shows an upbeat face looking left and right, searching for something far away in the horizon. (That's perhaps my favorite and I've never seen a similar emoji anywhere else even though it was one of the most used ones back in the game). #67 is also the perfect representation of the ^^ emoticon. It's a real shame that some people will never get to see those animated. |
