The episode managed to make us become attached to the characters and gave us insight into the show business world allwhile keeping the mainplot with the twins relevant.
While being able to be so successful at that in only the first episode is already incredible, we also can't forget the amazing visuals and the music that helped strengthen the emotions in the harder hitting moments.

Didn't think much of OnK when I clicked on the 1st ep... it took me even a while to realise the length of the 1st episode!

The story started off rather plain yet still interesting. Character design and artwork seemed real good.

And drastically the pacing picks up and takes the viewer for a ride. The suspense keeps building up but only slowly.

The boiling point however, really took me in. Disturbed me even a bit. But I fell in love with the whole concept of the show and even forced myself to catch up to the manga. Or rather, I couldn't stop at all.

This is definitely an amazing take on the genre and the topics covered.

Must watch/must read for me.

Wow it starts with a song.
I used to be a Kpop fan for a while, but this is an anime idol, the first time for me.
Wow a doctor is a huge fan
This reminds me of Miku...
ok poor girl
The doctor seems like a nice guy, but he's weird.
F_ this, it's Ai, I don't know what happened but if I were Ai's fan, I would have a grudge against anyone who dares to do something bad to her, was she raped by someone?
Does this doctor have a head problem?
What is there to talk about in this matter, are people planning to kill two babies? No.
And what's wrong with her eyes? The other characters don't have those stars in their eyes. Does they have magic?
Sorry everyone, I'm also a fan of Kpop idols but I have to say this: the thought of wanting to be reincarnated as a child of an idol is really weird. The world of celebrities is not simple. It's full of pitfalls and pressures. Not to mention the thought of wanting to come out of an idol's belly... well it's unnatural thought.
I totally understand Ai but if this is a real-life thing, it's no way she can hide those babies.
This doctor is so talent. Both neurology and obstetric examination?
Why is this doctor so naive, telling the truth to stranger.
RIP
Ok so the doctor will become Ai's child?
Yep. Damn, this funeral picture is weird
Hey what about the doctor's family? Yo? Who is the villain in the hoodie?
I see that the members of this group are also not close, no one visits Hoshino when she is about to give birth.
Who's the a*h made her pregnant? I'm pretty upset.
This anime is so averse to the showbiz, they're not that bad.
Yo the doctor remembers his past life since he was a baby?
I think I know who the newborn baby girl really is.
When will the two children learn the truth about each other?
The director's wife is easily fooled.
The director's wife should have panicked and told Ai about the talking babies thing.
I want the other members' stories to be told as well.
Why does Ai keep thinking about "lies"? Isn't being an idol her dream?
Wow I love this, I mean TV behind the scenes thing
That dialogue was really weird. Is this director acting weird, confiding in a child about work?
I think there is something mysterious behind this reincarnation.
Ok so she had a boyfriend before.
The new apartment is so beautiful. It was strange that the mother had no doubt that the two children had been talking so strangely for 3 years.
The director's wife also did not behave strangely. So boring.
Confessions with piano sound really effective
Hoshino must have a mental problem. But the thing when an orphan without outstanding talent growing up to become a famous idol is an unlikely thing in real life.
I feel like something is about to happen.
Damn, how can she talk so much after being stabbed in the stomach?
Little Doctor, save her pls.
Can't believe it. So hard to watch, so much blood
It hits me so hard
Why does Ruby care so much about media? No need.
Damn don't do that Aqua... don't revenge, let's live happily, like your mother's desire
I don't want to see the revenge journey. Is there anything brighter?
Can't belive this anime's so dark. I thought I was watching a love drama

I went in without knowing the hype around this show. And tbh had tears rolling throughout the major part of the episode. This series deserves all the praise it gets. It has the right amount of twists and turns to bind users in but is simple enough to convey the hardships in the idol industry. Pretty excited to see what happens later, which is hard to say for a lot of other anime that I've watched recently.

The first episode is really the peak episode for this series. The decisions to "kill" Ai in the first episode is, I must say it even tho I don't want to, is a good Idea. Because the Main Character of this series is actually Aqua so if they let Ai have more screen time, the viewers gonna be so attached to her it actually make it a lot more sadder and probably will make them stop watching this anime because she's dead already. If you want a more in-depth explanation about this series, just watch Gigguk.

Holy shit, and I thought the prologue was good in the manga. They did a fucking amazing job adapting it. Like, it’s been a while since I’ve been this stunned by a first episode. Honestly would’ve watched this sooner, but the hour and a half runtime was a little hard to make time for. But better late than never.

The visuals for this was insane. Like, really insane. It looked amazing. And I love the attention to detail on their eyes. One of my favourite parts about the manga and they’ve done a brilliant job animating it. The voice acting from everyone was really good all around. Especially Takahashi Rie. She really brought Ai to life with her voice.

I am very excited to see the rest of this series now. Even more so now that I’ve watched the first episode.

Honestly, the first episode is a pure masterpiece.

The anime is beautiful, Yoasobi's song is amazing, the episode was excellent and above all Ai's death was unexpected and very emotional, I was shocked.

 It's perfect

4.5/5

One of the best premiere in recent memory. I went in blind with this one, having my doubts on its sudden exponential viral nature and expecting a fairly generic idol story but imagine my surprise when it quickly transforms into a revenge thriller with consistent jumps from various genre tropes & a realistic storytelling all unfolding into a heartbreaking climax at the end. Definitely a MOVIE QUALITY experience, this one!!

Ai catches viewers attention immediately with her hypnotising eyes & charming personality. Our protagonist, who is a doctor, seems enamoured by her and knowing the idol industry, this is pretty normal in the Japanese society. Imagine his surprise when Ai turns up pregnant in his office and asks for his help. Torn by his obsession for her, he accepts it promptly but it is revealed later that he got into her because of his former deceased patient who was a huge fan of her. Protagonist is determined to deliver her child safely when disaster strikes. He is ambushed by a mysterious hooded guy (who we found out later as the stalker) and knocked off a steep cliff. He slowly drifts out of consciousness wishing inadvertently to be reborn as her child, if he could and luck would have it, HE ACTUALLY DID!!! I was a bit turned off by the fact that it suddenly turned into an isekai but any semblance of doubts were quickly dismantled by what followed next

I can ABSOLUTELY get behind Aqua & Ruby's characters. They are funny, quirky and pretty cunningly written..as to not piss off some casuals and im already more invested in their characters than i should be which is really astonishing considering im very critical of character exposures & it's implications. The fact that they both knew each other in their previous life makes it all but interesting. They literally had me chuckling and relating throughout the runtime with their infectious lovable personalities. Ai is a very stand out character in her own rights too, let's not forget. Strong yet Caring, Liar yet Lover, Powerful yet Gentle... everything comes together perfectly culminating into one of the most hard-hitting & tear-inducing moment in recent history. I had grown so attached to all the characters in less than an hour that i didn't even realise it myself until it suddenly HIT in that moment and it's aftermath. The lifeless still body of Ai, laying there with cold blank eyes but still some reminiscence of life in her bloody smile is an image that has been imprinted in my mind forever. She needs to be avenged!!!

Masterclass in animation & OST variations too. Even the side characters were indulging and had a fairly big part to play considering the ending of the episode. Aqua quickly deduces foul play and is whole-heartedly determined to catch his idol/mother's killer and brings close to the prologue

Like i said, TOTALLY RIPPED ME A NEW ARSE HOLE the night I watched this. Had me contemplate life for a bit. When a piece of media does that to you, ya'll know it's gonna be something special. Hopefully, the rest of the season can keep up this momentum throughout it's run

I don't know how many times I said "oh shit" during this. I teared up both when the doc died, then a tiny bit when Ruby was thinking of her struggles as Sarina too weak to do much, and teared up quite a bit with Ai getting stabbed then dying. I actually even felt kind of sorry for the stalker too because he felt remorse, he probably went through a lot to become so mentally off. Really tragic.

Never actually thought that it would be this great. I just started watching it considering the hype. And man it was just the best one I had ever seen.
I think that I would have dropped it if it would have been a normal 20-24 minutes episode. I think it was the best decision to make it of 1hr+

So am I in the minority that didn't enjoy this? Like at all? It was melodramatic as fuck and in a bad way, the jokes were out of place, the reincarnation thing done in a millionth time. Ai's character only getting some sort of development just before she gets killed didn't hit at all. Kinda disappointed tbh, very surprised how this instantly becomes #1 ranked anime on mal

I guess I'm in the minority too, I shut it off after the 30 min mark because the whole thing is just way too absurd for me, I knew the premise and everything and I tried to go in with an open mind, the animation and character designs are gorgeous for sure but the premise is too absurd for me to take seriously in a "dark" series like this, and the creepy idol worship was hella uncomfortable tbh. The whole "dark side of the entertainment industry" trope is nothing new, it's been done a thousand times over, aside from pretty animation it's really nothing special imo
