There was no reason to be massacred by them using just shikai knowing they cannot make it without their bankai, Byakuya said it quite well. It was either try using bankai and figure out how the enemies did their business (and maybe discover how to counter it) or die in their hands without even trying because they would "seal" them anyway. Nobody with that reasoning thought they could actually steal and use them against the shinigami, now THAT would be stupid in case they actually DID know. Their course of action was the most natural pragmatic decision.

while you have somewhat a point with Renji and Byakuya, I dont see how the other three are stupid? None of the lieutenants on their part had a bankai to sacrifice for.

Why I said somewhat regarding Renji and Byakuya is because that's something Mayuri would've done. It would be too out of character for Byakuya. They had no idea the bankai's would be stolen too, from a tactical point of view, sacrificing the strongest one would mitigate the damage since we know Byakuya was the strongest one out of the two and Renji would still have an ace up his sleeve if more intel got released by themself or from Mayuri or other captains instead of being just useless after his bankai would be "sealed".

So far the adaptation is great, with each episode that passes you already want the next one to come. The only weak point I see so far is that the episode ends very quickly lol

Literal chills, seeing Yhwach animated. The infiltration was 10/10 into the soul society.
I loved every minute of it and eagerly waiting for the next episode.

It was stupid for the other three because at least Byakuya's faulty plan was "at least we'll still have Renji's bankai. Rangiku, Marechiyo, and (presumably since he learned it at some point) didn't have a bankai to fall back on so they just threw their bankai away for nothing.

Thats not a good explanation why it's stupid tho. I think your whole point fauls appart because you're judging their action while knowing more about the quincies. In the same scène, it was also already established that waiting for Mayuri was a bad idea because Mayuri was working with basically no information beside the small encounter they had when they first appeared. Ishida's intel were too outdated.

Really enjoyed this one. Wish Bambietta got a little bit more screen time to show herself being worthy to be used Bankai on. I mean every other character too a full force attack and tanked it. She just clashed one and used a technique that can't be blocked.

Hope the next episode makes up for it.

also great teamwork between Byakuya and Renji. Why didn't we see the other vice captains put the same performance?

Curious how the next Episode will turn out.

Just a minor thing, but they really did Mask De Masculine dirty in this episode. Not only did they reduce his dialogue for some reason, they also gave his scenes crappy animation compared to the other fights in the episode. Also Kyoraku's eye injury looks like his eye was slashed rather than shot, which was a little strange imo.

Buahaha, right? Major clliffhangers, recaps and weird pacing - they really want to show the weaknesses of weekly airing Shonen anime for ol' times sake

The episode itself was pretty solid, the panic of the shinigami graspable and the entrances of the Sternenritter awesome. I adore the logic of "Let's pray Kurotsuchi finds a solution within a day". All of seiretei is really banking on him. And did they reall have to sacrifice 4 bankai at once? If they required a showcase for research purposes just decide on a single one to be stolen...

Step 1: Do not use your Bankai - these quincy can seal it away
Step 2: Appeal to some weird sense of honour and use it anyway
Step 3: Congratulations your sword powers have been stolen
Result: 4 captains with this face
