If anyone didn't cry or at least tear up while watching this, they are not human. Personally I cried a ton. This movie was a masterpiece.

Just finished watching it for the second time. And yes I did... for the second time.

Revisiting this I noticed how dark the anime film is from the very beginning. By the time I got towards the end, near the fireworks scene I knew Id be overwhelmed by the build up. Its a very sad watch, but with a sweet ending.

Just rewatched the movie and holy crap the entire last half hour is a non-stop tearjerker, it's absurd how good this movie is, easily my favorite anime movie of all time. This definitely deserved higher box office numbers and critical acclaim than Your Name got when it came out around the same time.

Manga made me cry, movie didn't because it rushed through the plot.

Sure did. The scene at the end where the crosses over everyones' faces fall away while Kensuke Ushio's score swelled up was incredibly powerful stuff.
Take care of yourself

I did cry during the jumping off the balcony scene. With the fireworks and the music, it was hard not to cry. I can totally relate, so it was easy for the tears to flow, even overflow.

A better question might be "how many times did you cry/tear up?" If you didn't ever cry or even tear up while watching this I would be deeply concerned about that person's mental well-being.

I tear up at the drop of a hat. Anyways, the movie had a lot of great moments, though I thought it was a little long winded and heavy handed, it could have been cut into 90 minutes and been perfect. 130 minutes is a long runtime for constant drama.

I'd tear up throughout but when Ishida broke down at the end... seeing him cry... man, I broke down too...

Thankfully it was a happy ending so in a way those tears were of happiness ;)

I didn't cry actually and didn't felt a lot emotion. I was just confused like how is this story shaping up and this movie missed the spot for me.

It was an emotional movie, and i did really love it and feel for the characters... but nope, not a tearjerker for me

If i told you which are the anime made me cry my fucking eyes out you'd probs ask for most of them "why TF did you cry at that??" haha

Not even once. Why? Because of the extremely hammy and "oscar bait" performances. I'm actually very easy to make teary eyed, but the way this film overdramatizes everything is genuinely so awful, it made me laugh at the dialogue more than resonate with what the dialogue was attempting to convey. If they actually spoke and acted normally? I probably would have.
