| Art is subjective, no one's taste is superior nor inferior to anyone elses. If you can justify your scoring of a show other than saying "it's bad" or "it's good", then no one should say that their taste is "better", nor force their opinions on you. Unfortunately, this is not the case and is getting old real quick. |

Get real. This isn't an appendage you were born with. This isn't some double standard. You choose what shit to watch. You choose what shit to plaster all over your profile and what shit to say in your posts and reviews. You can be criticized for it. Basically, if you feel like you're being "taste shamed," maybe you should ask yourself why you care so much if someone "shames" your taste in the first place. Is it really such a big deal to be made fun of over your anime taste that we have to tack on a term like "shaming?" Being called a shounentard is not really comparable to being called, say, a slut. It's just your hobby... or isn't it? On the other hand, ya, I agree, just insulting someone is not a substitute for thoughtful criticism or argument, if that's the register of the conversation; and it's ridiculous to, the minute someone starts arguing with you on MAL, go to their profile, see that they liked MHA or something, and call them a shounentard off rip because of one stupid meaningless detail like that. I was looking at something on your list to shame you, because this post makes too much sense, and I like some good-spirited shit-flinging... But that's a really good list. | I don't care about them. I'm not going to change my ratings/watch animes I don't like just because others are vulgar against my tastes. I watch what I like and give ratings by my own feelings. It's said that for each 1 supporter there are 10 haters so :D |

| It's generally not a good idea to get personal in discussions about something unpersonal. Especially in the anime community, I have witnessed that many are either gatekeeping or putting others down for their taste. And I don't want to offend anyone, but anime is also only a show/show genre. There is no need to attack someone personally because of their taste. It just doesn't make sense. |

| Taste shaming is for low-lives. It’s one thing to debate the quality of two anime, and it’s a whole different thing to wholeheartedly believe that there’s an objective hierarchy to taste. The latter is just idiotic and narcissistic. There is technically no such thing as a superior art style or genre. |
